Well, it sort of is… It was a made-up word in the 1800s, used for humorous effect, because it sounded plausible but ridiculous. It has since become an actual recognised word through frequent usage.
You haven’t had any crew disappeared lately have you. That guy is Sus, I think you just caught that guy ventin. I picked this up form my kids, I don’t even think they play “Among Us” anymore.
Now I got stuck in my other save. And I don’t have a teleporter in that save. It took me a while but I glitched out by laying a bunch of parts down, like beds, lockers, lights, etc.
I believe the issue is the broken controller I’m using that has a permanent walk to the right. Or perhaps the whole freighter is listing to starboard.
I had issues with 2 of our older controllers (continually pushing foward or right) making life difficult. Seemed to encourage glitchy things to occur more often.
My lovely wife surprised me with a brand new genuine controller in camo pattern after hearing me grumbling.
Since using it I’ve much less glitchy, jerky, stuck in walls weirdness.
FWIW there’s a not too complicated procedure for opening up a PS controller, opening the joystick pots, and cleaning them. You will find two clearly defined positions expressed on the internet. One, that this works great…pretty sure those are ordinary folk like me that have done it. The other that this could endanger your playstation, the electrical distribution grid, and the security of the free world…and of course is very likely to kill you. Pretty sure those are people who work for Sony.
I’ve pulled the PS4 controllers apart before without death, destruction or causing a pandemic ( maybe)
But I have shied away from the PS5 ones because they feel tacky & brittle.
I’m actually unimpressed with a lot of the PS5 hardware quality.
That being said, now I have a replacement I may take a chance on ‘fixing’ a PS5 controller & if I break it, it’s less of a concern.
Disclaimer: If the world ends, it is not my fault.
Tim told me to do it
I got a couple kids that are gamers, I’ve taking and cleaned these several times. Time to clean them again, I guess. Mysteriously a trigger disappeared on my controller that doesn’t have the drift. I am using it without. I will eventually look for it.
I have worn out several Xbox one controllers on PC. Drift was the first sign of death. Then came this disconnecting/reconnecting. I have switched to an Xbox S controller.
I have never worn out a controller on console. Ever. And I used to be a console exclusive player.
I think maybe it was the Xbox one controller. Idk…
Oddly enough, the more you use them the less they wear out. Constant movement of the sticks tends to keep the pots from developing any crud, while my console controllers pretty much need cleaning every once in a blue moon that I actually fire up the console because dust and oxidation has collected on them.
It’s most definitely the XBONE. One of the most disastrous hardware debuts in gaming history, (if we ignore x360 red ring death ratio) came to the plate with stuff nobody wanted, then told us the ecosystem was built around it and they couldn’t change it. They said and I quote “it’s not like we can just flick a switch”. Wouldn’t be surprised if the xbone controllers were not built to last.
Six months later when sony ps4 pre orders were ten times that of the XBONE, they removed all the always online DRM non sharing isolated system experience and major nelson announced they “flicked the switch”, then fired the spokesperson who’d been peddling their nonsense and put all the blame on that guy. The guy who was following their script.
Sony were doing a big show and dance about how you can just share your games with friends, how they’ve done cross console library sharing and streaming to any Sony mobile device since 2011 and it’s not big news etc and it’s all about the games etc.
Sony this gen… Well they’re under new leadership and they feel a little today like Microsoft did then, resting their laurels on a high horse. Sony playstation leadership right now worries me, the previous heads had a genuine love and joy for games and tech. Despite that they’re still the only one between Microsoft and Sony that are actively encouraging creative risks and the love of the hobby. (Nintendo are doing their own thing, as always, I never include them in a war they want no part in)
Which I’m only bringing up because I wanna talk bout dual sense 5 and stick drift. I’ve been using Dual shock since the original analogue controller (the original version minus the vibration feature) on PS1, on every playstation console right up to the current one.
Maybe I’ve just been lucky but this is the first generation where I had to deal with stick drift.
First dual sense I got was for PC as I had no ps5 at the time (2021). I got it second hand in CEX (fun fact, Charlie Brookers first job in the nineties was designing their logo, they still use it) so it getting stick drift eventually did not surprise me.
I bought one that was new, I wanna say 2022, and I take good care of my accessories, always make sure they’re placed flat and no cushions or blankets cover them on couches etc or put unnecessary pull or weight on them.
Within a year then right stick was drifting.
I think they may have gotten a handle on it with later models though. Because I got a PS5 last February that came with it’s own controller.
Then I got the 30th anniversary edition controller in October just gone.
We mind kids aged 8-10 and they regularly use my console/controller to play Minecraft.
The latest two have gone longer than my previous two and right stick is doing fine.
Worried I’m manifesting destiny by typing all this out… Hang on I think I smell burning pla- oh my lord all my Sony devices are inexplicably on fire!!!
Ground tessellation on PS5 is having a bit of a time of it.
That or it’s the universe singing/dancing in celebration of her return.
(Ugh, why is the ps5 controller mic on by default on boot up? I thought I’d set that to off I was watchin the yootoobz)
Looks like it might unlock that boundary break
Because the game uses SSR for objects close/high lod terrain and then renders a low lod double of the sky and terrain mirror that doesn’t use SSR for water reflections…
You can check what the view of the sky is like if you’re in a cave with some water.
Just move the cave walls etc out of frame and as their reflection vanishes you can check in on how the outside world is doing.
It’s still night time… Yes my visor has a clock. Why do you ask?
Yeeeeeeeeee-HAH! Ride em cowboy!
Ps5 froze while saving, had to hold the button down for a reset, spawned back in like this (the camera spawned in the correct place I had saved…)
It’s like you are riding a pet starship…
