Games and Game-Related old and new

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Atari classics, but this makes me scratch my head once more. Guess I’ll stick to the true classics, or do the same on PC without the new design and ‘official logo’.

While most of us (me included) are deep within No Man’s Sky - Beyond,

something incredible happened … after years of silence.

Homeworld 3 has been announced!

The original developers of Homeworld have banded together as BlackBird Interactive and made the incredibly immersive “Deserts of Kharak”, a prequel to the Homeworld story.

They started a fig-campaign (similar to kickstarter) in order to fund the project. More about their ambitious project here:

To everyone unfamiliar with the series, here’s a few trailers:

Homeworld (1999), remastered in 2015:

Homeworld 2 (2003), remastered in 2015:

And Homeworld - Deserts of Kharak (2016), a prequel to the original:

The release for Homeworld 3 is set on the 4th quarter of 2022, so it’s a long wait.

I am sure it will be absolutely worth it though. BBI has proven to stay true to their original, and I trust them to deliver in every aspect.

So, any other Homeworld lovers around here?

The Outer Worlds is coming soon, might be worth trying it out when it comes. Not sure about the exploration, but probably worth it for the story- I got my NMS fix in the Outer Wilds instead, hahaha

Looks to me like a grittier rehash of (RIP) WildStar.

Yeah, in the context of a dating sim, that slogan somehow gets a bit of a different vibe…

I will be taking a break in March. Cannot wait for this remake. Even if you do not understand Japanese, you can understand this video. Different modes of battle are available. I prefer the more interactive mode. Yes, I will be playing in Japanese with English subtitles ( Let’s hope the translation is done in house)

And Sept 20…

But if you play in Japanese, how will you ever know if this guy are sick or not?! Also as a European, I must argue that Aeris is a superior name than Aerith. The latter makes me feal like I have a lisp. I love my badly translated ff7 <3

Is there an option to have no voices and just text boxes? None of the characters sound like they did in my ten year old head. Why is Barrett Mr T now? Will we ever know? And I always imagined Cid with an Australian accent

Also Links Awakening is the sole reason I’m buying a twitch. God dammit! Breath of the wild can feck on. All that’s needed now is a proper port of Windwaker. Original aesthetic. None of that gross lighting thst did not fit the original look please on the wiiu version

Thanks for reading my critiques Nintendo.

Edit:

Okay watched the whole video now and it looks like they actually did what I’ve been saying the should do this whole time. Just do what super giant games did with transistor. Real time with a button to switch to active time battle turning the battles into a puzzle. <3 wll its not identical but its close. This is what I really wanted to see in ff7, something akin to transistors system. I thought it was madenning they weren’t doing it, it made so much sense, so happy to see they have…

Transistor is one of my all time favourite games and I’ve always argued it had the same impact on me musically as ff7 did musically. And aesthetically. I love that game and Darren Korb as much as ten year old me loved ff7 and Nobuo Uematsu. Now it seems ff7 has a little bit of transistor in it (I know it’s not the first game to do a real time with a paused strategic mode battle system but it set the benchmark for me :stuck_out_tongue: none that came before had a humming lady and a talking sword!!)

So here is some interesting news
From Wired
“While it’s not announcing the news explicitly, the PS4’s cross-play efforts have officially moved out of the beta stage, meaning that the console can support cross-play on any titles that studios provide the functionality for.”

Seems like I have been waiting forever for this. Hope I have not forgotten too much of the story.

Hytale is a new procedurally generated, voxel-based game that is still in development. Many people are cheekily calling it Minecraft 2.
