“included 6 years of updates” said like that, sounds good.
Above tweet: Translated from French by Google:
The death of embargoes (and of my bank account).
From what I can see on Reddit, I think I’m one of the first in the world to have Nier and No Man’s Sky Switch boxed…
If we’re already seeing posts like this, might HG not be too worried about the contents, because it features nothing more than what already is? Might the contents be awaiting a day one patch, featuring the real 4.0? Also, the above could be self-printed, stuffed in boxes and plastic warped, featuring nothing more than air.
Keep in mind the listing allover the net say the same…just with a caveat:
Include 6 years of updates (Certain features and content like Multiplayer, cross-save/play, settlements, etc. currently being explored for free post-launch updates).
That makes me wonder… What if those post launch updates refers to a day 1 patch? Maybe 4.0 for Switch would be a “1.01” in a sense, including a lot of those features, and the base disk edition would lack those features but still be a full game?
The point of the post is the juxtaposition with Nier, where it says “Includes the contents of DLC some weird number”. Next to that, NMS’ simple but sweeping “Includes 6 years of updates” does indeed sound good (let’s not forget that Nier launched only one year after NMS).
So it appears that, at least for the PS5 physical edition, HG shipped out Outlaws, not even Endurance. They’ve definitely learnt from the Xbox launch Next leak lol.
Yup couldn’t recall what site I read it on, but it implied it would come with outlaws, and no mention of Endurance. But I figured that might have been also written before announcement of Endurance…u just never know, so it nice to see it has been confirmed.
So, HG sent Bandai Namco the ‘product listing description’ and ‘game files’ for NMS after Outlaws, but before Endurance. This would have been nearly 5-6 months in advance.
Either…
B.N. requires this much advance notice.
HG just aren’t taking any chances with 4.0 leaks.
HG are just (as per usual) super on top of it.
Granted, 4.0 is not on these physical editions, so HG aren’t even concerned with leaks. Thus, either B.N. requires this much advance notice, and/or HG are just (as per usual) super on top of it.
There was a few things to chew on in that article. Grains of salt and all that.
TLDR:
New details on their new game:
its further along than NMS was when it was initially announced. Which is further than I imagined.
Details about 4.0:
-Everything but settlements and multiplayer will be coming to switch.(edited out “missing” sorry)
-Keep expectations low as it wont contain much content in 4.0. mainly tweaks to the fundamentals and design of the game. Specifically quoted: “balance, difficulty and structure”
-tweaks to reduce grind
-Tutorial/early game will be streamlined further
-bigger inventories
-level up ships and weapons further
-New “Relaxed mode”
-Tweaks to Survival mode to make it more challenging.
-new “custom” game mode
-Tweaks to inventory management.
-a “whole bunch” of future content updates are lined up and coming still
It did not mention anything about an updated UI but im guessing its implied since the UI could be streamlined further still.
Huh… That could mean almost anything. Those are the things that can fundamentally change the experience, instead of just throwing some new things in there. It’s these things I’m always looking out for the most.
noooooooooo
First we had a backpack. Then we had a truckload. Then a boatload. Currently we have several boatloads. What the hell more can you add to that??
Meh, I do prefer finding better ships by exploration while bumbling around rather than grinding for upgrade parts.
Meh. Where’s the “Absolutely-not-relaxed-constantly-pressed-for-money mode” I requested?
Hmmmm, maybe this is it…
Ohhhhh, now there is some potential. Depending on the options one can play around with, obviously. I hope there’s going to be lots!
As part of that goal, 4.0 adds a new Relaxed mode (playable with either a fresh or existing save), which Murray calls a “very fun version of No Man’s Sky where the focus is on exploration, less on just surviving and grinding, [where it’s easier] to see the six years of content that’s there” @TravelEcho rejoice!
It’s under “Quit to desktop > Shut down > real life”
Didn’t the modders find a screensaver mode where you just float passively from planet to planet? That’s what I would consider a cool relaxed mode.
Yeah, I think this sounds promising as well, plus
I understand the story in the beginning needs to be there to introduce new players to a million possibilities, but after the four-twenties-eleventh time I would like to fast-forward. Let experienced players skip blueprints, or receive them in a different order, or even skip the story, etc…?
“Sean Murray: Oh yeah, it’s quite a large update for all platforms. So it’s about design, and it’s about the fundamentals of the game. But actually, this update is more focused on the other platforms than Switch in some ways, really.”
