Future Update Speculation

They are so cute and well programmed! :joy_cat: Someone at Nintendo must have had a fit (and then went home and secretly played it).

This is more like past update speculation, but are these new? Newish?

I am trying to complete my glitch collection in this save, and I found a foaming planet so I stopped to get some glitch bubbles, and ran into these. It’s a fairly typical two legged striding thing…but it’s a bubble! You can see bones and some other stuff inside them. The planet guide claims there are five different fauna, and I managed to scan three of them, but the three at least all look alike. Definitely different, because one is bigger and is a predator that tends to stand around crowing, while the two smaller species do a lot of very fast running around while getting killed, but they are all the same model.

Anyway, I tend to be a compulsive collector so most of my saves I have eventually landed on foaming planets to get bubbles, and this is definitely the first time I have seen bubble creatures…so…is this a new thing?

Not new but I think it is pretty rare.

I encountered some see-through critters on what I believe was a regular planet some time ago.

Funny. They are usually neon colored but the monochromatic planet has stripped them of color.

Current Redux - system Useiyoshi XVII, planet Bory IX.

Huh. The current Redux is Titan, and the foaming planet I found them on is actually a moon of a gas giant. Were these introduced with the Titan expansion?

They came with the first Worlds update, along with a slew of other strange critters.

I think they’re most common in purple star systems, if not exclusive to them. I don’t think they are though, I feel I’ve seen these guys pop up in other systems. They might have a higher likelihood to appear on Exotic planets.

There was a very green player looking for one the other day online after seeing them in the expedition, I sent them on the path to unlocking the purple systems in their main game (portal address to purple systems fail if yet to be unlocked). They also didn’t realise steep inclines meant infinite jet pack/climbing or about the melee jetpack launch. Somewhat envious of their fresh eyed experience.

They showed up in data mining a lot earlier too, seeing the translucent strider led me to think there would be a bunch of translucent variants of existing creature types when they arrived but we just got the strider for now. Hopefully they get some translucent pals soon.

Did they actually have these black pixels on them, or is that a rendering bug? I have seen similar striders without black pixels, but they were quite rare.

The black markings, I think, are the monochrome planet version of the neon green markings on Temp’s creatures. They were definitely part of the creatures I found.

I think the shimmering fat black pixels appeared more recently. I don’t remember seeing it before, but all the ones I’ve seen during these expedition reruns have it. Looks like a shader bug.

A Redditor says today he saw the pixel outline fixed on the experimental branch.

Based on the the patch notes, it sounds like the fix now made it to the official branch?

Yup. Same planet…

As a side note, I am intrigued with the fact that the monochrome planet actually monochromes me!
