Future Update Speculation

Sorry, only now somewhat catching up, but I still have this survey in images:

Thank you for that. I wasn’t too far off the mark - the wording is slightly different, but the meaning is the same.

When I made a post on reddit about a “return to BeachHead” line being added with The Cursed update a few weeks back, someone made a point that the PS5 Pro also comes out on N7 day which is the big mass effect celebration day every November 7th.

Internal update was 5 hours ago, we know an update is coming for PS5 pro but also no Emojis so can’t be a big thing dropping at this stage.

I’m starting to think maybe that poster was right, we could get a Beach Head repeat to tie us over until the redux (I was thinking it would be part of the Redux )

Cursed expedittion ends today. It was much shorter than usual.

We may not get much for N7 day though:

That also implies a beach and water. Hmm.

I cant see HG dropping any major news this week mainly because the US presidential elections is sorta headline news right now. Moreso this year than other times because of who the candidates are. I can see them waiting a week after it. But then again, algorithms are what effects news coming to americans anyways so it might not effect HG much if they drop any major news this week.

I personally think HG should plaster the US air waves with a huge Light No Fire ad.

I liked the mass effect games, but wasn’t aware they were anywhere near the kind of material that warrants a named day of the year for commemoration… :person_shrugging:

Doomsday Clock…that’s what I see but maybe that is just my current state of mind manifesting itself

The re-cycling of the Mass Effect expedition ties in quite nicely with the idea that HG want to connect the ending of the current No Man’s Sky story with the launch of Light No Fire.

HG had planned a series of updates and expeditions, leading up to the conclusion of the story, and the release of Light No Fire. Unfortunately, Light No Fire is delayed. HG don’t want people to lose interest, so they have to keep the expeditions coming - but they’re not ready for the big reveal.

Consequently, they’re having to pack the gaps with fillers, padding, and recycled material.

I was fairly convinced cross save would return with ps5 pro at the least, wasn’t so sure about the beach head redux happening on N7 day but woah, what a nice surprise.

Now to try out something I’ve been curious about with cross save.

I have all expedition rewards on pc, missing 2 expedition on console.

Will transferring a save from my pc into a free slot in my playstation save, also apply it’s earned rewards to the overall save unlocks on PS5? Or will the save once transferred be restricted to using the playstation unlocked rewards until I transfer it back over?

Watching the cross save trailer has me convinced now that HG have hired an in studio media team or are working with a local team externally, to film and document. This and the worlds update breakdown tells me it’s something they’re actively pursuing now and I fully welcome more of it.

So redux into Feb. Looks like we will have to sit back and relax for a while. Maybe they are throwing everything at LNF…

…and maybe the whole team has gone on a 6 month sabbatical, and left the caretaker in charge. “All you have to do, George, is every 6 weeks, you press this button…”

Let’s hope not…

Every 2 weeks presumably, to cycle through the expeditions…

When HG introduced the ability to enter expeditions from your main save in the anomaly, I wasn’t convinced. However, having tried it a few times, I’m now sold on the idea - so I’ve been updating my main save. I’ve just run through the whole of the Artemis quest, the Atlas Path, the Purge, and then They Who Returned.

Running through the whole of the new, revised storyline like that puts things in a certain perspective that I don’t get from reading datamined text dumps. One thing, in particular, stood out to me - so here we go:

The Atlas is a supercomputer. It has a real. physical existence on a real world, somewhere. The Atlas was built to predict the future - which it did. It even predicted its own destruction. Whether because of this, or for other reasons, the makers of the Atlas decided to leave “for the stars”, abandoning the Atlas, alone, to its fate.

Some have said the Atlas is being consumed by a Black Hole. I’ve seen no direct evidence of this, but there is reference to an “extreme gravitational event”, which would fit. The Atlas can find no way to avoid its own destruction.

Within the Atlas’ simulation, there has appeared another data entity - the Void Mother, or Atlantid. The void Mother believes it can escape the destruction.

Therefore we have a conundrum. If the Atlas is destroyed, all that is simulated within the Atlas will also be destroyed. The Void Mother will have nowhere to exist, and will simply vanish. How, then does the Void Mother hope to survive? It would literally have to create itself out of nothing, in the real world.

Physics provides one example of this - the Big Bang. There was nothing - no space, no time, no matter, no energy - and into this nothing, everything that exists exploded, from a tiny pinprick to the entire universe.

Sounds pretty ambitious, yes? Nevertheless, I’m fairly certain that’s what the Void Mother hopes to do. In fact, she says so:

And somewhere is this space opera comes the choice we made, the Atlas or Void Mother?
We still have no idea which won.
And what exactly does that mean for the game?
I voted for the Atlas.
