An interesting video that documents an alleged “leak” of version 4.0…
leak…wild guesses based on community desires and most likely upgrade path. People have debated this numerous times…Myself…I think its bunk.
I have seen some more recent specific “leaks” that might also be very good guesses (not gonna share) but I have yet to see something from left field that couldn’t be guessed by experience with this game.

The only reason I posted this is that the video claims that the source has been reliable in the past.
I can’t verify more than the sources past “leaks” levering in the video.
It had entertainment value if nothing else.

Okay so FriendlyFire | EU | PC | mods and I did some wild theorizing and we have more potential alignments which may or may not explain HG’s new Steam branch. To summarize:
- A new NMS internal Steam code branch bejryy was created this morning. (they’ve always just had Internal and Experimental branches until now)
- Using a Caesar cipher this name decodes to Orwell (credit: Hypr)
- Orwell’s famous book “1984” was published on June 8
- Apple’s developer conference is June 5-9th this year, which is widely rumored to introduce their AR/VR glasses
- Apple’s famous 1984 commercial introducing the Macintosh was a play on Orwell’s “1984”

Huh… I’ve never heard ROT13 being referred to as a ceasar cypher before, but I guess it makes sense…
I wonder what people get so hyped up for nowadays. I mean, back then you had rapidly advancing computer technology, and a market open to relatively small companies with crazy ideas. There was actual room for surprises. Nowadays you know pretty much exactly what you’re going to get, and people somehow still get excited about it like it’s going to be jetpacks and hover cars…

My Update Predictions.
Possibly:-
- New ability to grow plants, fruits & veges for boosting Health & Shielding. Maybe the introduction of ‘anomoly’ plants that provide power source goodies.
Out on a Limb:- (pun intended)
- Apple = A pull. Introduction of new tractor-beam technology for bulk harvesting asteroid fields & other space debris/items.
Most Likely:-
- The previously suggested Apple Mac platform stuff.

Well other than the most likely scenario of NMS coming to Mac. Im going to throw in some fun guessing too:
A new cosmetic for MacOS will come. Probably something basic like a starter multitool or the starter ship with a color scheme on the mostly all-white side.
Im sure several bug fixes and maybe a few QoL changes will come about while introducing a few new bugs.
And I think we’ll get an expedition a few days later.
I dont think anything big is coming this time around, but if it does, that would be a great surprise.
