Expedition 20 Breach

Which may be one reason that Hello Games doesn’t want to offer permanent access to past expeditions.

That’s how the Positron Ejector part from the last expedition worked too. After claiming the part, I built & deleted it - which just returned the ingredients not the part itself. At that time, I was NOT able to select and build it again from the corvette menu, even though I still had the ingredients. I ended up reloading an older save, and duplicating the gun part a whole bunch of times so I wouldn’t accidentally delete them all in the future.

Hopefully that has been fixed for all these expedition parts like @toddumptious said. I haven’t tested the gun again since encountering that initial bug.

If you set the crafting to free in the difficulty modes, you can add any corvette part. That can be used to get back the lost part if you end up in that situation.

They are selectable in the corvette construction menu when you have the ingredients even if you no longer have the part. You do not craft them in your ecosuit though you can duplicate them there

This is the part that’s really confusing me. On my PC, this is just not happening. There is no parts build option within the corvette construction menu, regardless of what parts or components I have.

The option to duplicate wthin the exosuit inventory doesn’t always come up - and I don’t get any build option at all within the corvette construction menu.

Did you pick the plans up from the QS bot?

AFAIK, the QS bot didn’t offer me any plans. It gave me a small number of Aeron corvette parts (which I am able to duplicate), but no plans.

Yes. That is what I meant. Parts. I am able to build them as long as I have the ingredients needed.

It put the blueprint into my Corvette build menu

Regular parts to be traded for

Atlas Blueprints

So, it seems the regular parts can be traded for with salvage and the Atlas parts can be built with the needed ingredients, with salvaged glass being the main one.

They’re not built or crafted, rather the option to place them becomes available when you have the correct ingredients. You can then delete them afterwards to have physical items of them in your inventory.

The QS reward gives you two things, a physical copy as one free placement, and a recipe to place as many as you like from the corvette parts selection menu, so long as you have the ingredients.

If this isn’t working for you as intended then it seems like you may be experiencing some bug related to your legacy save ( I am also playing on a legacy save from 2017 but having no issue here, I am playing primarily on console though.)

Well after a delayed start I got into Xpd.20 with MP off nearly the whole time. Waterword (depth) mission caused me some grief & I got a bit fed up jumping systems (& continually making warp cells) looking for a floaty creature to adopt. Those atomic looking things don’t count; it has to actually fly about).

Can’t say I loved this expedition. Just felt like a grindy fetch quest with minimal law & no real theme.

I’ve been trying to design an aeron themed corvette but so far I’m not satisfied with what I’ve come up with. I don’t think the aeron theme is finished yet. I believe Hello Games will release an aeron cockpit, aeron reactor, and aeron habitation in the future.

An Aeron/Atlas focused update does seem like the kinda update we might get in early 2026, I feel like any time we have gotten a crimson themed update/Expedition it’s been early in the year (Sentinel, Outlaws, Fractal, Interceptor, Orbital, adrift etc)

When I started this expedition, I saw a friend online and joined their game. I saw their name floating somewhere but we didn’t ever actually meet. And this save is now separate from my main save, correct?
Does that mean I cannot take anything from there back to my main save? Or can I put stuff into the expedition terminal and still fetch it from the other save?

If you didn’t start the expedition from the terminal in an existing save I have not found any way to bring items that you gathered (like ships, multitools, etc) back. However special milestone rewards are available from the quicksilver bot for any save, including future saves. I always start the expedition with a new save to protect my main save and only replay if there is something I want to gather (usually extra ship slots or similar.)

You join a friend with an existing character from a save, anything you do in there will be tied to that character.

If you made a new character for the expedition instead of starting it with your current main character, any progress will be tied to that new character.

For example, you cannot join your friend in an expedition with a normal save, it will be greyed out when choosing which save to use.

If that normal save joins the expedition from the nexus, it will no longer be greyed out when trying to join them.

Any items picked up or milestones completed will be retained. However if joining a friend in a system you’ve never been to and you don’t warp away from them, your position in this multiplayer session will not be saved, and you will find yourself back where you were before joining them. It will however save system discoveries and show recent space stations in the list.

Glad to see it wasn’t just me. Sort of felt like “do everything there is to do outside of building a base, in no particular order for no particular reason.”
