Evacuated System

So I found an evacuated system, and don’t recall if I have ever seen one before. The station is abandoned, buildings are abandoned; this is as you would expect. The weird thing…well, a weird thing…the planets have no animals, which is pretty creepy. Sort of lends itself to the idea that whatever scared off the people proceeded to eat everything that moved.

One of the planets is the coveted temperate planet with green grass and blue water. Sad.

Another is listed as ‘Planetary Anomaly.’ The most anomalous thing about it that I could see was nice weather and dioxite deposits coexisting. The weather was listed as ‘inverted superstorms,’ which I might hang around to see if my patience holds out.

In case it doesn’t, anyone know what an ‘inverted superstorm’ would be? If no one knows, anyone wanna take a guess?

Well this is strange and unusual. Never encountered anything like it myself. Does the inverted superstorm suck you into the ground?

I dunno. I’m starting to wonder if the ‘inverted’ applies to the ‘super,’ and they are happening without me noticing. I’ve been hanging around for what seems like it should have been long enough. We seem to think opposite, as I was sort of worrying that the inverted superstorm might mean gravity and blow me into space.

Things to report:

Even though there are no animals, there are fish.

The ‘small settlement’ that my chart led me to was abandoned though not listed as abandoned. The landing pad worked. The terminal worked, sort of (all the prices were marked with variations of ‘data missing,’ except the trade goods which seemed normal enough…maybe even discounted more than usual. Machines still cranking stuff out and no one to buy it? I dunno.

The merchant building was full of slime and was surrounded by eggs. The bio horrors seemed normal enough.

I didn’t pick a fight with them, but the sentinels seem pretty ordinary.

I have been slowly working my way through all the galaxies. I am currently in #118 - Jasinessa. In the last few galaxies I have found systems devoid of fauna. In #112 - Hansolmien I built a base on the plant because it was the first time I had seen a system completely devoid of fauna. However, it was weird and creepy. Personally, they are novel, but I don’t really like them.

Yeah. Until they were gone I didn’t realize the effects that things moving around provide, even if they are just distant green dots. No fauna is definitely creepy.

As to the ‘inverted superstorms,’ I wandered around that planet for a long time, and they never happened, so I have no idea what they do…

So inverted can mean opposite arrangement from usual. Usually, superstorms in NMS are very violent events. Lots of wind and lightning. So perhaps an inverted superstorm brings extremely calm conditions.

It is an Abandoned system, usually infested with plenty of whispering eggs. No NPCs/dominant race, as they evacuated, but no fauna either.

It is just one of the ‘Normal’ weather names it can get for a Blue biome (planet). There will not be any ‘Clear’ or ‘Extreme’ weather. It would be interesting if those names would actually correctly describe the weather present…

A sentence uttered only by NMS players: “Inverted superstorms that bring a lot of calm weather are completely normal!” :joy:
