No chance…those were from at least 11 months ago…no way they’d have put bit.ly links in there that far back. Plus 12 characters would have to include bitly as the first five characters and some other letter or two in there…so no there’s no way.

Had a dream last night the brainwave option meant ps4 and Pc players would get the update a week early at the end of the countdown but we didn’t because we were all so desperate for a trailer and chose video.
What was witnessed was mutiny not seen since launch day, the official NMS reddit became a Mr robot fan page again and an audible sigh was even heard from NoMansHigh this time (the only safe, chill haven on reddit in August 2016, hence the nipnip bud).

The usual routine with trailers and patch note breakdowns like that is they land on the day of the update or just before depending on geographical location.
I don’t expect this time to be any different but will be pleasently surprised if it is, in fact I’m praying to every deity I can think of that this time is different, before some people here get twitch stream madness.

Well…I mean that’s how it’s been before…but this is quite different…this is an entirely new launch on two major new platforms…there’s a very solid chance this may not and it REALLY should not play by the same rules as the other updates. It really makes no sense to tease a minor tidbit with a 48 hour stream about nothing…and it was about nothing as it involved waiting around for 12 hours to get a small audio clip with a bit of fiction about a character we’ll likely never find more than a small log about in game.

I still feel out the loop with the last few days, lots of reading to do to catch up but from that sentence in the email, I got the impression something significant was going to happen then.

That’s when the ARG ends…there’s nothing that strictly dictates there must be no trailer or patch notes before the end of the ARG…granted it would have less of a carrot to get us to stick around for the end of the ARG but frankly that’s three days away…it won’t really impact the ARG that much. They could hold back like one bit of the the game to be revealed by the ARG or something but no big difference for the ARG regardless.

Extraction is on twentieth yes. I suspect its the earliest we’ll get any major reveals, if the biggest reveal, an official update trailer, drops before the final event, then what would the final “prize” be in the ARG?
Last year we didn’t even get a trailer for the end of the ARG, we did get an actual in game screenshot of the new ships they’d been teasing though and a launch date for the update (thay may have come earlier though) so I’m just gonna assume a similar form of delivery this time, any other thought just leads one to expectation and then angered entitlement from my experience on the interwebs.

But why the two day countdown timer?
Tying content reveals for a new launch exclusively to an ARG that literally nobody on the new platforms knows anything about is a REALLY dumb idea. That’s like literally ONLY showing a trailer to the people who already own the game…most of which own multiple copies.

Sorry I’m just a little confused as to the Extraction date, 20/07 and this countdown thing that’s going on, (more info on this would be nice)
To me it seems that its expected that we’ll get something from this countdown where I would say its more likely we’ll get something on the 20th.
Maybe we’ll get both who knows.

Lol you pretty much just summed it up. We know that the 20th will be the extraction event. That has been stated clearly.
This countdown event started when we unlocked Element 6 on satcom. Since those elements reveal things related to gameplay, some of us are expecting a trailer, screenshot, or something like that when the time runs out. Buy really, no one knows.

The countdown will lead to something definitely, just don’t know what but I’m not expecting anything crazy like a trailer. Could be a video instruction about developments from Emily and how to proceed with the upcoming extraction and maybe another glitchy tease at upcoming game content as with previous elements.
I’m not ruling out the possibility of an early trailer, just not pinning my hopes on one either
