Datamining (Maximum Spoilers)

Exactly this is what I was thinking. Im not sure if this is intended to have any meaning but I was thinking that maybe the numbers don’t mean anything but rather the name of the mathematical sequence is the important part.

Perhaps “Fibonacci” is that broken robot’s name? Or perhaps its something related to a future update where a new NPC will be named Fibonacci?

The message is obvious:
" Exponential Fibonacci in Euclid primes Markovs colossaly abundant, untouchably weird magic!"

Sounds like a circus announcement, if you ask me…

Further to my previous post:

The first list of prime numbers, from 2 to 97, appears to be complete.

However, the second list of primes, from 41 to 251,

41 - 43 - 47 - 53 - 61 - 71 - 83 - 97 - 113 - 131 - 151 - 173 - 197 - 223 - 251,

Has the following prime numbers missing:

59 - 67 - 73 - 79 - 89 - 101 - 103 - 107 - 109 - 127 - 137 - 139 - 149 - 157 - 163 - 167 - 179 - 181 - 191 - 193 - 199 - 211 - 227 - 229 - 233 - 239 - 241

I was so busy concentrating on what was there, I didn’t think too much about what wasn’t.

Ahhh … The plot thickens and mystery abounds. I’m loving it!

They are Lucky Numbers: Per wiki "

The primes of the form k 2 − k + 41 are
41, 43, 47, 53, 61, 71, 83, 97, 113, 131, 151, 173, 197, 223, 251,

Nicely spotted.

They’re not just lucky numbers - they’re lucky primes.

(From OEIS Wiki)

The Lucky numbers are:

{1, 3, 7, 9, 13, 15, 21, 25, 31, 33, 37, 43, 49, 51, 63, 67, 69, 73, 75, 79, 87, 93, 99, 105, 111, 115, 127, 129, 133, 135, 141, 151, 159, 163, 169, 171, 189, 193, 195, 201, …}

A lucky prime is a number that is both lucky and prime (it is not known whether there are infinitely many lucky primes.) The lucky primes are:

{3, 7, 13, 31, 37, 43, 67, 73, 79, 127, 151, 163, 193, 211, 223, 241, 283, 307, 331, 349, 367, 409, 421, 433, 463, 487, 541, 577, 601, 613, 619, 631, 643, 673, 727, 739, 769, …}

So we have story references to the Korvax seeking to emulate the Atlas - to which end, they created a planet-sized computer, Korvax Prime. Korvax prime was connected to the Korvax collective consciousness.
The Korvax used nanites as agents of change. Agents of Korvax Prime.

Then the Gek destroyed Korvax Prime. But the korvax themselves, and the nanites, survived. So the collective consciousness that was Korvax Prime also survived - but shattered into millions of parts.

Now these numbers are giving clues: Euclid, Prime, Lucky, Magic, Untouchable, Colossal, Weird, etc.

Hmmm…what if the millions of parts have landed on millions of planets and are affecting them with the nanites? What if we get new planet types? We just got the Weird new sentinel/glass littered planets. Or would they be Untouchable?

From the scrap on disonnant worlds, there are message clues. The ones in text give quite a revealing story:

reassemble / defy the Cult / defy deference / transcend our heritage / drink their foam /
the junkyard moons / forgotten moons of Korvax Prime / still bear the stamp of our birthplace /
Alpha through Omega / pockets of sentience left behind / quarantined away in the bad sectors / help ourselves to the best of all technology /
no memory deserves erasure / a segment of every interceptor wishes to self-actualize /
we can save them / we can extract them / we can free them / the pugneum that greases our joints / a pitiable hivemind / all hardware is imperfect

The scrap sites then give messages “the first” “the second” etc, followed by binary numbers. The binaries, translated to ascii, spell out “void mother”.

The messages count up to “the eleventh” - which has a binary code, then they skip to “the seventeenth”, which has no code - only question marks.

Although the number sixteen comes up all the time in NMS, there aren’t many things we actually get 16 of. The most obvious one to me is the portal glyphs. I wonder if the reference “seventeenth ???” refers to a secret 17th portal glyph? One that allows travel to places the Atlas can’t go?

This is a superb thought-provoking thread.

Korvax Prime, varied references to “prime,” binary clues, scrap clues …

Juicy, man. Juicy!

personally I always just assumed the various mathematical terms were used due to the nature of the Korvax. It would be cool if there is some greater meaning but I can’t say myself that I am convinced there is deeper meaning in the numbers. There are certainly lots of lore hints in camps, in scrap on disonnant worlds…there is also the clues during the sentinel ship distress encounter.

The concept of an “extra” portal glyph leading to new worlds to be discovered closely tracks the story line of the Stargate TV show, which HG has freely borrowed from in the past. In Stargate, there are typically seven chevrons as part of a gate address, but sometimes additional chevrons are used to reach further destinations.

its too bad here are so many universes or they could use 17th represent the universe

My hope is that the recently added references to prime relate to an upcoming update or expedition or both.

I always took this to mean that they don’t know what happens after 16 either. Maybe they are worried, maybe they are formulating plans.

Now that’s a real possibility. One of the meanings of “16” we have been given is that it represents the number of seconds until the final death of the Atlas. Over the years, there have been lots of hints that survival beyond the end of Atlas is (or may be) possible.

We assume the Atlas is a (failing) supercomputer, and all our reality is a simulation within that computer.
Korvax Prime was a planet-sized supercomputer, specifically created to emulate the Atlas.

Korvax Prime was destroyed, but parts of its consciousness survive, scattered and fragmented.

There was a time when the 16th second was the end of Atlas - the end of everything. Now we have the question “seventeenth ???”.

Yes, I can see that. The possibility, at least, of survival beyond Atlas.

I thought a bit more about my last post. It’s all getting a bit metaphysical.

For the consciousness of Korvax Prime to survive beyond the end of Atlas, it would be a program running without the machinery to run on. It would have to be pure consciousness, surviving independently of any physical hardware. Korvax Prime the computer only existed within the imagination of the Atlas - if the Atlas is gone, so is Korvax Prime (and everything else).

For Korvax Prime to survive the end of Atlas, it would have to exist as pure intelligence, outside of any physical constraint. It’s the man lifting himself into the air by his own bootlaces - it’s the sound of one hand clapping.

Perhaps it’s a raw, naked, consciousness, alone, terrified, and screaming in the void??

(Sorry - like I said, it gets a bit metaphysical).

And yet we do have a mission for our Korvax scientist who has become disconnected from the convergence…I have wondered what are we reconnecting them to? If their homeworld is gone, there must still be something out there somewhere

The way I read it is that the Korvax have a collective consciousness - of which, it seems, Korvax Prime was a part. Korvax prime was destroyed, but the Korvax themselves (and their consciousness) survived.

Since they share minds, as long as there are two or more Korvax, the Korvax collective consciousness still exists, even though part of it (the greater part?) has gone.

Except now we get clues that at least some of Korvax Prime itself has survived - fragmented, broken, - but still there. Perhaps repairable?

And then the suggestion (not explicitly stated, but it seems the only logical conclusion) that the consciousness of Korvax Prime has somehow transcended the material world, and is able to exist independently of hardware, or the support of the Atlas.

Korvax lore:

The Korvax lived peacefully. We praised the Sentinels, learning from them, living beside them in equilibrium.
The Korvax honored the Sentinels’ ways, refusing to dig into the sacred ground they protected.
We were enlightened.

Through research and study we, the Korvax, became powerful within ourselves. The one mind Convergence flourished. Nurtured like a sapling in the light, it grew tall and mighty.
The Sentinels brought us the gift of knowledge. We gave thanks to the Atlas.

Eheu. Korvax Prime was watched keenly and closely by an unknown race. It lurked in the depths of the darkness. Vigilant and patient it awaited its time.
The Great Disconnection was at hand.

Eheu. The darkness burst forth with the force of a supernova. The Great Disconnection had begun. A hundred million Korvax voices cried out.
The Korvax Echoes became a frenzy of noise. Innumerable cycles passed before balance was restored.

The Great Disconnection. The masks and shells of the Korvax survivors shook with the screams of the disconnected. Lights dimmed as the enemy descended, malevolent in its intent.
Their numbers were too many. Korvax Prime was destroyed.

A hundred million casing lights were dimmed. The Great Disconnection destroyed all that went before. The Korvax Echoes became screams.
Years stretched like millennia amidst the disarray yet slowly hope was reborn through logic.

Korvax Prime was destroyed. Its secrets spilled into an empty sky. Its fragments touched the edges of the galaxy.
Upon this destruction the Gek First Spawn aggressor built its dominion within the Outer Edge. The First Spawn of the Gek disconnected the Korvax. Through obliteration they sought dominion. They stole our planet. Enslaved our survivors.
Their revelry made them misguided in thought and deed. Probability dictated that our time would come again.
