The internet was a mistake

I know during the weekend missions it was controlled by the NPC Spawn Table, that what you were monkeying with?

Yea, wanted to spawn em abundantly to put together a lil Pak for others to check em out too.

If I can’t sleep tonight, I blame you.

Maybe there is a reason for this new robot to be in the PlayerCharacter sources, fully capable of taking over NPC crew tasks without issue. Fully animated as well, other than the legs possibly needing some extra work

Not datamined but definitely a spoiler

Is that Hirk on the right?

So the staff will just replace the blaster and be upgraded like a gun. So the new parts are character body parts for making your appearance robotic…so just more robot parts, variations on the expedition parts.

The question I have is the new race appearing at camps, or new locations? Or do they spawn in when we preform something with all the echoes we harvested???

I hope he speaks through his staff like a sock pocket.

“I’m robo-hirk, and this is a staff I made out of Nal’s remains after I pushed him. Say Hi Nal!”

New freighter type and something is happening to the Atlas. Looks like the poster we got not long ago. The Atlas is going mobile. Lifting from the planet it was abandoned on.

lifting, or falling apart?

Beside the obvious robots at the center of the image and the freighter battle, There is a space station in the upper right with a red plume (smoke?) coming from it and surrounded by rubble or asteroids. I’m probably forgetting but I don’t remember the space station making an appearance before. Still old styling but maybe something got updated.

Though what i notice about the station most is probably a compositing goof, the station is drawn as a mirror image. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Probably just artistic licence.
The artwork has always been ‘representative’ of the content but rarely a perfect match, due to its older 1970s book-cover style.

If you look at the posterised shading of the asteroids around the space station there looks to be something behind it on the left.
Problem is I now keep seeing crooked bunny ears behind the space station

Not too sure if they are pieces falling off it or not as they look kinda like those large atlantid ore crystaline bits, almost like they’re crashing down on to planets or “falling before the atlas” to symbolise their history.

The image compression is so bad around the smaller details, so its hard to tell if the sort of strands that arch out from underneath the atlas and towards the camera are just part of the ghosting of the three large figures behind it or if they’re small ships or tendrils coming out of the atlas XD

For example I think on the right side of the planet, what looks like an eye glaring out is the bicep of our staff wielding friend.

The thin silver one in the middle actually kinda of reminds me of a traveller grave viewed at an angle, but again I might be just seeing patterns in the serverside image compression

Well, I don’t see holes in the Atlas so I am going with lifting off. :upside_down_face:

The space station is not an abandoned one since it shows the blue entrance force field, but smoke and seemingly missing chunks from the station could indicate an ability for players (or pirates?) to damage space stations (shudder).

My impressions from the Echoes title picture is as follows.

Firstly, it looks stylised & not necessarily an exact depiction of what we might see in game.
The centre triangular area shows what looks to be a classic orange anomoly traveller on a common coloured world but with details (such as distant mountains), altered for depth.

Above them, suspended in its own space is a lavish blueish ‘glass’ Atlas, glowing from within and with what I interpret to be ‘dribbles’ of aged ‘energy’ draping from the overhang, like vines on an old ruin. (A bit like a floating citadel from other genres).
In this misty, falling, essence, there appears to be broken pieces captured & held in place as if entangled. I think this image is mostly artistic & pays homage to the many similar ‘suspended Atlas’ imagery weve seen over the years.

Most prominent in the centre are the 3 robotic-race beings, the middle one recognisable from the Sentience expedition, while the others are completely new.
On the left the being grasps a familia multitool whilst its carapace is reminiscent of other technologies within the NMS universe.
The being on the right however is very different, with their cyclops robotics intertwined with what appears to be brass coloured stone or fabric.
The staff they wield looks to be powered by atlantium filled chambers while it is shrouded in static energy discharges. The head of the staff looks to incorporate a helmet of some kind.
This being also has a new shoulder scanner while the other being’s can’t be seen.

To the right of the central triangular area appears fairly generic examples of a Space Station among asteroids, a living ship & a settlement. All look to have the same stylistic approach but I can’t see anything I’d mark as ‘new’.

On the left side there is a new looking freighter doing battle with what appears to be another regular freighter and its cargo & frigate fleet.
This new freighter is using orange ‘enemy’ beam weaponry & it looks like it is a completely new freighter with a pointed bow, huge angled fins/rudders & a light layout like we haven’t seen before.

Finally, below on the left there looks to be a small starship of a style I’ve not seen before. At a glance, it could just be a stylised ‘sqiddy’ but it may also be something completely new.

I think the centre imagery with the three beings is the main focus with the peripheral artwork merely suggestive of imagery we already recognise (except for the freighters in combat).

It’s interesting that Hello Games decided to merge the Next box art (central mountains) with the current background they’ve been using since Origins. Even more interesting is that they decided to use the old Atlas from the Release Box art too instead of just the triangular outline we see right now, which would’ve fit the theme they had of the Atlas getting closer each update. There’s a single lightning flash to the right which I can’t remember or find in older similar update art but that might just be a stylistic choice. The space station is what throws me off the most since if we were getting the TypeB stations, HG likely wouldn’t have the old ones drawn on the cover. Since the end of Singularity was basically a teaser for Echoes, I feel like the story content connect to these robots, or the expedition HG might launch with Echoes, will have teasers regarding the stations for the final part of this arc, and that’s why HG is drawing attention to the stations here.

That’s kinda where I am. If they were coming in this update, it would make more sense to show the Type-B versions.
