Datamining (Maximum Spoilers)

What they’re saying is, procedurally generated beings are mostly born out of mathematics

If the audio spectographs really were left as a breadcrumb, then I wonder if it’s a warning about the new Autophages, perhaps the Robots we build will unknowingly help out the Abyss, much like how we fed it and helped it grow during the Weekend Missions, believing that we’d been keeping it at bay…

Another theory I’ve heard about the eyes are the Station Cores, since the “I See Her” dialogue came from those cores, and the fact that the center building at the camps are disabled Station Cores. Maybe taking over the Station Cores allows the Abyss to control and perceive more of the simulation?

And we already have our doubts about little Laylaps

With the station cores also in the camps, I think it likely wants infect them, but I feel they might also be a way of keeping the infection out.

Not sure though. I do feel we are going to get some heavy lore implications though,

Definitely Atlantid/Abyss/BigMamaVoid/KorvaxPrime. All the other messages have referred to her in such ways. “I see her” was the most recent one from the space cores in a korvax system. Now the message is about the Abyss staring back <3

Any perception of an enemy is false. This is all a part of Atlas plan to break their own reality. Just needed to make and contain a very powerful enemy like a pressure cooker.

Still sticking to my end game plan ' We’ll see how well it stands when the Void Mother plays their hand.

Edit: Where are my manners, double posting, out of practice here. How do I merge my posts agaion?

It is fine. We forgive you.
I double post all the time

MacOS Only Build Afaik. The Steam BuildID Is Definitely Not Gonna Be A Foolproof Versioning System Now

I hadn’t listened to the audio before. Expected it to be something “generically creepy” like Jupiters magnetic field, with the message hidden somewhere in the high or low frequencies.
But this… Ooof! Now, it’s still possible that they grabbed some suitabe sound assets from somewhere and mashed them together, but to me it sounds like they might actually be sounds they intend to put into the game.
Now I’m imagining some desolation-esque dungeon but with corrupted sentinels and disturbing nanowank design with those sounds for atmosphere… Ugh. Though shall not hype!

During Waking Titan, they regularly hid these messages within music files. There’s no reason why they can’t be regular sound effects and secret messages.

wasn’t there some during Desolation?..sware I remember that.

Yes. There was a teaser video of the desolation update video. It was distorted video footage and eerie sounds and later the images and eerie sounds were in the desolation update trailer. This sort of sounds similarly eerie so there is a good chance that this next update is going to be a similar update to Desolation.

Its just, “to what extent?”.

I get the feeling this Evolving story is going to take place over this years updates and expeditions. Hello Games giving us a common foe for the year? I sure hope so

I’d be happy with just one expedition and story evolving through minor updates too but waiting a while for the next chapter with content updates would be idyllic scenario <3

To think the void mother was first teased as being very present in the exocraft update. Six years in the making with nothing but glass to chew on and corrupted water to wash it down with. I’ll search for the bit and post it but it’s towards the end of their base mission

Edit: Okay a google search used to pull it up pretty quick but I cant find the Exocraft Technician Mission Transcripts. Essentially it was the first time the game hinted that something lovecraftian or unknown might be lurking, watching us, always just out of eye sight. The abandoned buildings at launch gave us the foundation but this mention of something feeling not quite right in the Exocraft update made it clear that there is a present and unseen threat (or super best space mom friend? lets wait and see  )

I just hope the lore does not come through the expedition alone. New people or people who missed an expedition really can’t follow anymore.

Yeah, the transitive nature of expeditions makes them ill-suited for core storytelling… But so far, the important stuff has not been directly tied to an expedition, I’d expect them to keep that pattern.

Maybe it’s due to the fact that last updates didn’t really pull me in any more. I might have missed the lore.

Expeditions tend to be more a fun narrative based around a theme or experiencing new content if present, any story elements introduced via content are within base game (sentinal sites, autophages, etc)

I think the only one that had lore that’s really hard to get now (I randomly got one recently) is the Skinfolios and the cult of the worm that were easily attained during the Expedition. But that’s a super focused narrative thats more an homage to Dune than part of the greater NMS lore. (The team must have been really hyped for the film :3 ).

Edit: Now that I think about it, one thing I wish we could get a record of within game is the weekly community events that were the precurser to Expeditions.

Polo would send us out on missions to trace signals or track some funky business about the place, all sort of teeing up for the arrival of some changes to the nexus and stuff like that. (Or the disappearing Iterations and sussy-Ariadne )

Now that we have a trapper keeper for our lore in the Catalogue tab, it would be nice for new players to have a record of this little bit of Atlas Rises plot post-script.

One of the things I find fascinating abut the expanding lore is the premonitions of new community interaction and how these changes are explained through boundaries between iterations become blurred as we get closer to 16.

When we were bubbles, ghostly travellers explained we were seeing them because of the iteration bleedover. And one even claimed to be existing in a time when we could see and interact with eachother. Polo’s community missions were also a part of that teasing/premonition stuff so would be nice to have it accessible again somewhere to read <3

That was the in-game way of telling us that crossplay was coming. Now that I think of it, the brain emoji could be Ariadne? Maybe now that mac and switch players have joined NMS, and since there are many who weren’t around for this part of the story, they might re-release it. There is a good reason to do it too since its “new content” to many players and HG doesnt need to do too much to bring it back in.

A sort of re-worked story gameplay that isn’t a weekly drip-feed of story content like it was back then but instead its more like Atlas Rises.
