Corvette Expedition 19

In all the expeditions I did, by the time I got to the Anomaly, I didn’t need the stuff in the expedition storage anymore. :face_with_tongue: And the limitations (such as not reaching all colours of systems) are not an insurmountable obstacle, so I stopped taking anything.

Why do you recommend to start a new save, due to a specific bug, or in general?

You served on subs? That must be a strange life. Back in the 1970s I spent several weeks putting out a fire on board a nuclear sub (well, to be honest, a couple of days putting out the fire, then several weeks making sure it didn’t staart up again). I spent a lot of time talking to the crew - they had some stories - things you don’t see in the promotional TV shows - like, a week into a voyage, everything goes mouldy.

At the first station I wondered, have enough people read ahead to realise that taking passengers / being a passenger is a milestone? I saw another player walk into a finished looked corvette and followed him. We both sat down visibly near the entrance, we wanted the owner to see us. I also stood up and got out of the way when I thought he was trying to interior decorate.

I was in a strange session, usually it’s people who speak the local languages. This time, it was many different ones, Portuguese(?), something Cyrillic, and “unicode font missing boxes” (which is often Chinese). Nobody was really chatting.

Instead, I used the emoji menu, hoping they would show up localised. I made three gestures while the owner was inside (I don’t exactly recall their names: waving, ready stance, ready and waiting). In English, waving appears in the chat as “over here”. Sigh. Fnord knows what that got localised as internationally (by translators with machine translation who cannot review the output because they are typically not even informed that this is for a game and in which situation the line appears). But apart from that, this could be a perfect situation for communication and gestures. Those are very important in international games (think of Overwatch, where communication became an art form). What should I try next as greeting?

By chance, I encountered one of those observatories that gives me a location marker. Should I go check if there’s an actual ship there?

It would be handy to know whether they exist in the expedition. Normally, most planets have them. In previous expeditions, HG have sometimes nerfed them - but they forgot to remove the crashed sentinel ships.

I suppose I could always build a second corvette - but that only solves half the problem.

When I signed in to the first rendezvous point, it identified me by name.

I don’t think that’s ever happened before. It was a bit spooky.

Not a specific bug rather, because I have never encountered so many bugs in an update.

I was immediately glad I started a new save with the bug I got as soon as I arrived at the space station. I was able to delete that save and start again. Had I been in my main save, I could get out of the expedition, yes. But I would not be able to complete it with that save file.

My Internet is back. :tada:

Travelling to the second rendzvous, I encountered (as expected) a space battle. The pirates were duly defeated, and I claimed the freighter. Unfortunately, the next jump I made, I encountered another space battle - and that really messed things up.

My corvette disappeared, and I was floating above the second freighter - but my jetpack was stuck in planetary mode - only usable for short bursts. I had no access to a teleport, and I couldn’t call my ship.

Had to reload.

I have been left floating in space a couple of times, but the quick menu now has a button to call for emergency pickup. It works very well.

It is not the one you use planet side. It is a different icon. Will try to catch a screen when I jump in.

That’s why I call this the No Mans Sky Over Here update, because of the Hello waving emote.

I was lucky it has the same syllables as Voyager

I might start submitting zendesks about it, this over here nonsense for hello when there is also an over here gesture has gone on far too long. I think @Polyphemus was a young man fixing a nuclear reactor fire on a submarine when he first pointed it out to me.

I’ve decided to start trying the thumbs up emoji for hitchhiking later, if they don’t want me there then maybe I’ll get a thumbs down. It’s also the classically done gesture for hitchhiking.

They need to add a hitchhiking gesture :head_shaking_vertically:

I felt the same, that was fun. There’s a community milestone we are all contributing to, it was at 42% already when I last saw it.

Judging by how we got a communication from ourselves(iteration “4642?” Or something like that) at the start regarding something about remembering ourselves or becoming whole again, it seems we are all merging towards this.

It makes me recall how part of The Void Mothers plan or one of the prophecy’s about the travellers is how they are all a piece of the creator and one day they would merge to become whole. Paraphrasing because it’s been a while since I read any but it’s relating to 16 if memory serves.

I’ve been taking screens of the interactions etc, will upload when I reach the conclusion with blurry spoiler vision in place :+1:

Might have to wait for that optional community milestone to complete first or I get there before it does.

If the conclusion of that echo merging is an optional milestone it could lead into something in a later update or expedition (major theorising/wishful thinking for some new lore content on my part)

One of the boundary failure logs said something to that effect:
”Before this finishes, there will be no concept of you and I, no concept of us and them. We shall all scream as one. ”

I am determined to only snap on the required pieces and any that I need to make room to snap them to.

I know the feeling, I just about found a spot for the final reactor it wanted from me.

I also feel they’re leaving me with no choice but to return to my main with my expedition corvette and keep the ugly thing for sentimental reasons. This must be how my father felt the day I was born

I just got the corvette weapon reward from the expedition.

What makes this one unique among all corvette parts is, it’s built with ingredients. As long as you have the parts for the recipe you can just place them as if they were a base part.

Looking into it further instead of just parsing memories together from last night, here is what the Traveller Imprints are for according to the mission descripton

Restore Sentinel/Traveller neutrality

The Atlas/Aeron Surveillance Uplink has been compromised. Sentinel authorities have become actively hostile toward Traveller entities. Starship trade has been forbidden.
A cross-reality collection of Traveller signatures is required to reconstruct the Sentinels’ definition of anomalous entities, and restore neutral Sentinel/Traveller relations.

Complete the Resist milestones to contribute your unique iteration signature to the database.

Universal Traveller imprint progress: (currently 64% as of typing)

Once imprint progress is complete, return to a Space Station and inspect the Station Core.

So it seems we get our (optional) conclusion and 1,200 QS upon returning to a space station core once the community progress reaches 100%

edit:

A traveller entered my ship while I was away typing this message, so I took them on a trip for the milestone. They’re stuck in my engine now from a glitch. They’re inside the walls!!!

My North “N” compass marker has disappeared. S,W,and E are still there - but where N used to be is just blank.
