Oh dear. My ship decided it wouldn’t land anywhere on the planet I was searching. Every spot I tried was “landing area not clear”. So I flew back to the space station. I flew in through the entrance door, right through, and out the other side. Now drifting in space, none of my controls were functional. My only option was to quit the game.
This is how I’ve been getting corvette modules since the update.
I just keep the ship at a suitable speed and set autopilot to maintain course, then wait for something to pop up into my scanner and jump out the back when it flies near, then take the teleportar from the surface back up to the ship after claiming whatever it is I’m scanning for.
Sometimes landing near buried things will delete them so it also eliminates that accident from occurring.
You can also build an interior stairs straight to your ships roof, so long as there aren’t any exterior hull parts blocking the exit/entrance, which can be a little closer than your entrance ramp depending on ship size.
You can also just switch Network to Disable
I have crashed twice with an error code. Zendesked.
Otherwise, things are smooth except for not being able to land when I enter a system for the first time. So I jump out then call the Corvette down. After that, I can land
This is the exact opposite of my experience. Out of two wives and two long term girlfriends I haven’t seen one who could “just grab her purse and go” if she was going any further than to pick up the mail from the mailbox.
I just tried to buy a trader ship in the space station. I couldn’t. Message said “This ship cannot be purchased”.
Correct. You cannot buy a ship. You must build and fly a corvette
Maybe I am weird.
Well the Internet is down over a wide area. I blame all those NMS players. Don’t they have anything better to do?
On balance, I’d rather do most of the mission with a ship that’s a little less buggy, and a bit more reliable - and just use the corvette for the bits where it’s needed. Plus there’s a smuggling mission coming up, and my standard way of dealing with them involves two ships.
ATM, I’m on the lookout for a crashed ship to restore - but I don’t hold out much hope.
You can still claim a freighter
Freighters are nearly as difficult to land as the corvettes.
At this point, I wouldn’t want to try
I’ve seen lots of landed freighters. The problem doesn’t seem to be landing - it’s taking off again afterwards.
Well, at least we could raid our own wreckage for corvette parts.
It took a whole week of searching for scrap and building something from the bits I could find and a few hours of an expedition centred around the whole affair to make me realise the Corvette ships represent the Autophage in the same way the other ships represent the other races.
I can finally stop having imposter syndrome around those guys when they ask me if I assembled my own shell.
I completed the first phase, almost the second. But with my Internet down and several crashes and I will be gone in the morning, this one is moving slowly.
I have tried several times to sneak on board someones corvette and hide behind some boxes. Only once did I not get asked to leave before a warp. I came out from behind my hiding place and did a dance for the pilot. They got up and asked me to leave. It was in a language I did not speak but the message was quite clear. I dove out the back and waved goodbye.
People really do not like stowaways
I have built a base in the second RV system called “Rideshare Milestone Meet-up & Exchange”. A simple little place that might by chance lure like minded travellers looking to hitchhike across the galaxy for a spell.
As we used to say in the submarine force, “maintain number of surfaces equal to number of dives.”
Unless they had equipped their Corvette with a pole this was a predictable outcome.
