Confused Oldcomer [Poll]

@Clemm stumbled upon and revived an old thread, responding to a comment that itself led to an old poll from the Waking Titan years. @DevilinPixy Rightfully closed it down for replies as old threads are generally closed and archived around here to keep things neat and tidy.

I enjoyed seeing the old poll so I thought it would be nice to start a fresh one :slight_smile: Hope you don’t mind me taking the reigns @kyle-culver

With A new ARG in full swing, and the user base up from the ol’ regulars that haunt the place, it seems fitting to revisit it.

Crazy to think back then, the game wasn’t even out on XBOX and it would be a full 2 years before the Universes, seperated by platforms, would be merged into the cross-play behemoth we know it as today.

Following on from the original polls ethos, it’s entirely optional and the identity of those who select options, will be hidden.

When I was YOUR age, (cough cough) we had no fancy no man’s skies, we had to build our own spaceships, out of wooden rulers, rubberbands, and inkpens, and we had to draw our own colourful planets, with crayons on paper, because everything was black and white! And 2D! And we were happy. You don’t even know how good you have it with all your fancy 3D 4k RGB! Voyager flew uphill, both ways, every day, just to take a picture of the gas giants for you, and what do you do? Explode on the launchpad is what you do, how embarrassing!

Remembering the buttons is my biggest issue swapping between games, or more often, between PC and Switch (I do swap the A+B on switch though). However It’s been that way for as long as I have been gaming, so not age related in my case.

I play e.g. Minecraft, Space Engineers, and No Man’s Sky. Guess what the buttons do? Exactly, the opposite…

Placing or deleting blocks or cancelling? I dunno, it’s either left mouse button, or maybe right, let’s just see what happens… :sweat_smile:

Middle-mouse-click to pick a block in creative mode in Minecraft… repaints the ship in Space Engineers… Oops :person_facepalming:

Pressing Z to start building in NMS - switches jetpack modes in Space Engineers and drops me out of the sky… Will I ever learn? :laughing:

Any platform vs Switch is difficult. After all, the Japanese read right to left and top to bottom so I have to make my brain flip the thought process.
When I have a game on Switch I am playing, I tend to stick with it til I am done. Then I can make the change back without needing to flip again any time soon.
