I had a pirate hunt 3 times in a row but today, I exited out of the menu then clicked on the mission board again and it gave me a different mission.
Last night I was in with a friend. Neither of us got mic audio from the other. Base loading for the visitor was also a bit janky. The whole base would blink in and out as a complete unit. We often ask for variety, this was certainly different
I just had to build a base. With cylindrical room, glass corridors, glass cuboid rooms, bed, coloured lights, and message modules.
Dearie me, the single player has to work hard for their 250 quicksilver these days.
I think that Iāll stay with eliminating the 14 noxious weeds and 31 monstrosities.
I had to find rare bones. Found some on the 3rd try. Easy mission. Interesting that we all get different things to do. I like that.
Yeah, especially since you have to do it in one sitting. I feel like I would really enjoy the base building missions, even alone, but I just donāt have enough consecutive time.
I got a similar mission yesterday for my quicksilver but nobody would join me, so I had to go it alone.
The nexus actually sent me back to the system I came from as it had all the requirements needed on one planet.
The mission was to build a base, but underwater, and my system happened to have a frozen biome water planet. Lots of glass for the making!
It might be an issue related to underwater base missions or maybe you experiences this with the regular base mission? When it came to placing coloured lights, the only colour that added to the counter were green ones
If you donāt like the quicksilver mission on display you can wait until someone else takes it and it will change, or you can take it, start it, leave it and it should change, but not every time, so it could even be on a timer when it changes. Not entirely sure. Ive done the monstrosities one by myself too many times now I try to skip it. I love love loooove the bones mission, fun by yourself and with others.
It actually keeps sending me to the same system/planet for the bones mission that it sent me to the first time I tried it with the āgroupā of six which is kinda neat
The base mission annoys me a bit. It assumes you have access to all sorts of esoteric raw materials, and full command of all the tech trees.
Now that stuff doesnāt bother me - iāve been playing this game a long time, and Iām careful to max out my technical skills as early as I can - but newer players can find themselves locked out of the missions, because they donāt have the necessary abilities.
Only allowing the most experienced people to earn quicksilver is a bit like the way the banks will only lend money to people who already have loads, and donāt need it.
Actually no. They assume that a group of players have or can acquire the necessary tech and materials reasonably quickly. Which I honestly donāt think is too much to ask for. If you have four players, having two of them go on a quick salvage data hunt to go back to the nexus and buy up any tech that youāre missing, and the other two to acquire missing materials, I donāt see this taking much more than 2 hours. I think itās a fair bar for missions that are meant to be done together.
My only frustration is that having to complete them in one sitting makes it extremely impractical for even advanced players to solo. And even with that I wouldnāt have a problem, if base building missions were available from the normal mission board to do the normal way (I donāt really value quicksilver. HG has done a good job at making sure that the game is fully enjoyable without it). Really, the only thing Iām sad about is that I canāt play a part of the game that I think I would enjoy without bothering with other people. Which is something I think I wouldnāt enjoy.
You still make glass from frostwort? Just dig a hole and throw the silicate into a refiner!
Oh thanks, had no idea this is a life saver and a slot saver, Iāve so much excess silicate
I am surprised at how many people have not figured this out. It also can be used to refuel your TM.
Right? I mean it was basically written into the patch notesā¦
Today, I was given the assignment to build a base. The mission sent me to my base. I guess this was a lucky break. It meant building a round building, 6 L corridors, 3 cuboid rooms, some decorative planters and 3 flags. No mention of a door or windows, I mean who needs that stuff anyway. It did briefly flash up Bio Dome, but I already have 3. It must have taken what I already have into account.
Out of curiosity, do those building missions have preference for the good 'ol āprefabsā or do they include the newer building parts as well?
I donāt know, but Iād assume it would be a lot more difficult to check whether you build anything actually sensible with them and would therefore expect a strong leaning on prefabs.
The above pieces is all it asked me for but, I think it took the things I had already built into account. So I can not really answer that question. As @jedidia stated, I just set them out and it kept a counter in the bottom right. It only cared about quantity.
I also noticed you can delete the placed elements. It wonāt ask for them again. This might make it easier as you recuperate some materials if Iām not mistaken.
For me it was all prefab. A square building, door, 4 curved corridors, 4 glass cuboid, some lights and planters. I watched a couple of videos on YT and they didnāt use the basic components either. Of course that just means that Iāve only seen it request prefab, procgen is sort of unpredictable.
