Hello all.
So, I completed the milestone saying I had the base computer plans- but can’t build it, looks like when I land in my corvette the system thinks I’m “in” it, even if I walk a few dozen clicks away.
Want to build a base- what am I doing wrong?
(Btw-also says I have to place the portable refiner “must place in corvette”??)

Yes, the game sees the Corvette as a base. So it seems, from what you described, you will need to walk a good distance away from your Corvette or, call in a regular ship instead.
You can walk while holding the Base Computer until it turns green. That will show you how far away you need to be.
Also, I moved you to the correct topic so we can get more thoughts on this problem.
Playing the main story will be interesting after building a Corvette. Normally, a person would have already done all of the missions before reaching the point of Corvette building.
There may be a series of conflicts due to you already having a Corvette.
As for the refiner, the game is walking you thru a tutorial, more or less, so it wants you to build a refiner so it can show you how to use one. It should be possible to set it anywhere and have it count but I would put it in my actual base just to be sure.
In the top corner when in build mode near a corvette it should display a button prompt for changing to regular build mode and vice versa. Can’t remember if top left or top right, no need to move away.

So this is something I have not noticed since I have not build a base with a Corvette in tow. I don’t actually like Corvettes for planet exploration because of getting up and walking out and the gravity shift when entering and exiting.
I have all I need on my Freighter which has been and will continue to be my main base.
Yeeep.
That did it. Changed to expedition provided explorer ship, landed away from corvette and “bam💥” building a base.
