Iâve had a couple of visitors stay (like the old system). Iâve also had the count go up twice without explanation or ceremony. And Iâbe had two children born which I have not found and forgot to look if they counted.
For some reason, the 5.72 update downloads halfway (2.4gb) on my ps5 then it just sits there. I tried rebuilding the database and clearing the cache, but no luck. I canceled and deleted the downloads and other game/apps updates were downloaded afetr with no issue. But NMS gets stuck halfway. Anyone else have this issue on their ps5?
Got mine updated. Seems to be working.
Iâve had various issues like this over the years.
Often right at the end where it decides it canât install/validate.
Typically, I find ensuring Iâm using a strong internet signal that isnât via rooftop satelite reviever as I have access to both satelite & telephone network⊠NMS seems to object to the satelite version.
I also find resetting the modem has helped; not just turning it of but doing the paperclip reset.
Due to our poor reception, I generally hunt about & make sure the PS5 is the only thing online during a big download as sometime sharing the signal is enough to mess things up.
Probably the most obvious one is to check the PS5 actually has extra memory available as they donât seem to like being even close to full.
Sinister AI Overlord? Sounds like you need less Grok and more Grah!
My settlements can run up debt - but I donât see any way for them to make a profit.
If my settlers make a successful expedition, I can choose to donate their earnings to the settlement reserve - except there doesnât appear to be a settlement reserve - the money just disappears.
If a settlement incurs expenditure, say, for a party or an expedition, that outlay is translated directly into debt. Thereâs no allowance for a reserve buffering the expense.
When the setttlement goes into profitable production, it can only store very small amounts of produce - like 1 quantum computer, or 175 radon. Once that limit is reached, production stops. The settlement canât sell it, and it canât make any more until I take the existing stuff - but I have to take it - I canât pay it into the settlementâs reserve.
It feels like the settlements were originally intended to have an extra layer of economics, which somehow got left out of the final product. As it is, the settlements are designed to fail. They canât ever make any money - they canât even be self-sufficient.
Its only the nms 5.72 update thats having the issue. Other
Multi gig game updates work fine, even the ones that were pending behind the stuck nms update once I cancelled the nms update. I have plenty of free space, and its definitely not the internet.
I noticed the preview panel for that settlement still shows increasing debt but it is actually decreasing right now.
Some tinkering seems needed.
And none of those settlements has asked me to build anything. Just the one landing pad in my Autophage settlement
Yes, they can increase debt, and they can decrease debt - but debt is all they can have. They never make any profit - they never have any cash.
You can make a (very small) profit by taking and selling what little goods they have - but to be honest, youâd need a thousand settlements to make as much as you can from farming or mining.
Left to their own devices, itâs not possible for the settlements to make any money at all.
Which shows that despite being enhanced, settlements still need some work.
I credit the success of my pre update settlement to the chocolate cake and clocks. Everyone knows when tea time and that slice of cake is coming.
For days now my settlements have been falsely claiming to be under sentinel attack. The alarms sound, screen warnings appear, settlers run for cover - but there are no sentinels. If I leave the planet, when I come back, the alert has cleared, and everything is back to normal.
So I wasnât bothered to teleport into my Korvax settlement, and find sentinel warnings operating. Except this time there really were sentinels - a group of five dissonant quadrupeds.
They would stalk me, but they wouldnât attack -Laylaps stared them down. Then my AI minotaur destroyed one of them. I didnât know that could happen - Iâve always found combat between two NPCs to be too underpowered to actually do any damage - but it happened, right in front of me. Even if it only happened once, it was very satisfying to have a companion that could actually fight.
I destroyed the rest - I discovered that they would attack me, but only if I fired first - it seems Laylapsâ magic only goes so far. The sentinels are all dead now. I look forward to more.
A leftover piece from an Expedition I think. I have one in storage with the other oddball pieces leftover from other expeditions
Used to find living frigates?
The trick is to upgrade each building focus on everything but houses.
You donât see the B>A benefit until after upgraded. It only shows the current affect.
Most costs wont change from upgrading buildings, just how productive they are.
Expedition money donation is a waste of time until out of debt. Better to skip these when it debt.
You will get option to build better buildings if you dont have construction always taking place, so leaves houses to later.
Eventually your production will out perform expense, and then debt will begin to fall.
Once falling then update everything to S
From the No Manâs Sky Wiki:
The Dream Aerial in No Manâs Sky is a special curiosity item introduced in the Omega update.
Itâs a shimmering, rainbow-hued device that tunes into the wavelength of the unconscious mindâvery sci-fi poeticâand itâs your key to discovering Organic Frigates, also known as Living Frigates.
With all these weird items needed for upgrading buildings, I wish the rocket that carries our good to sell, also worked the other way around.
Thatâs right.

Not only are they weird, they change randomly. At one point my buildings were all requiring superconductors (which, fortunately, I knew how to make - you canât buy them) - but then, after 3 or 4 upgrades, the requirement flippped, and they all wanted mind control devices.
Itâs fetch quest make-work, and quite annoying.
