BEACON update šŸ„“

That’s pretty funny. I see some amusing caption errors from time to time on YouTube.

Well, the polyphonic core multitool upgrade detects the old Autophage settlements (you have to charge it with atlantideum) - I would start with that, but on dissonant planets.

I tried scanning for a settlement on a dissonant planet and it said it couldn’t do it due to interference

They have their own unique settlement charts now, you can buy them with motes at the same place you get autophage parts etc at POI sites that have autophage  These should send you in the direction of an autophage settlement more to your liking, or if not, then maybe the next one will. Ad nauseum. I look forward to seeing where you settle your settlers.

I’m wondering are we going to need a new pictures thread called ā€œMeet the Settlersā€ or a ā€œKeeping up with the Jones’sInterlopersā€ to house any curious fellows we meet and wish to share, or just odd settlement requests that gave us a chuckle.

It seems like glitches/funny pics is already cut out for the challenge, I also can’t think of a funny enough pun based title to warrant ones creation. I’ll leave it to the committee :joy:

I chose to put the findings back into the settlement and they celebrated with a fireworks party.

I wonder if they would have done this had I chosen to be greedy? (this was actually an expedition I had said yes to, back in April when I last played. Its conclusion still got the new makeover)

Well duh…the one place I did not look. :upside_down_face:

A post was split to a new topic: Settlement Mission Stuck

I just visited an autophage terminal - they do sell the charts, but they’re not cheap. This one wanted 1,499 void motes per chart. That’s an awful lot of odd jobs.

If you happen to already be at an autophage settlement, there is a terminal beside the central pillar in town. It is just as expensive. So far, 444 motes is the most I have gotten for a quest

While the metal buildings look awesome with the rusty streaks, the clay walls look undefined and unresolved…I have yet to check out the wooden structures.
I also noticed these new looks do not affect bases.

I received the Autophage settlement invitation, and travelled to their location. When I got there, there were no Autophage, and the contact point marker was underground.

I saved the game, shut down NMS, and restarted. Now there were Autophage walking around, and the terminal contact point was at ground level.

I tried to apply to be overseer, but the option was greyed out. I clicked on it anyway, and got the message ā€œSettlement request denied - insufficient dissonanceā€.

I have 96% standing with the Autophage. I’m not sure what this means, what I’m expected to do, or whether it’s just bugged, and anything I do could make it worse.

I can talk to the Autophage, but they have no conversation options - when I speak to them, the only option is ā€œLeaveā€.

I guess they don’t have enough problems to consider subjugating themselves to a foreign entity?

Ugh, yeah, my first randomly chosen settlement is also Australia-levels too hot. Are there any better ones?

Do settlements exist on non-stormy Paradise planets or exotic planets?

And, is it still the case that we should wait to reach the maximum number of settlement buildings before building our own? So they don’t overlap?

I have to say, the grating metallic effect in the voice is my most hated feature. I take off my headphones every time when starting a new game/expedition (and often I rip them off midgame as well, when it starts whining about something). Let’s see what the alternatives are, muting might be my best option, thanks HG for adding that.

Do these squadron stats have any noticeable effect? I don’t remember what I picked. I want to play this in a way where I pick the ones that sound interesting and have a cool looking ship. I’m not minmaxing them. If something was ā€œredā€ and another candidate did not have a ā€œredā€ value, I picked the better one. The squadron flies around. I take some shots. The battle ends. In short, I don’t see their effect to a degree of detail that I could tell whether their stats are actually better or worse?

Are you not dissonant enough relative to the mundane world to be accepted by them? Or is the settlement not yet dissonant enough to require your help?

I have been assisting the Autophage for a long time, and have built up 96% standing with them. They have invited me to this settlement to become overseer. When I talk to them, they address me as ā€œThe Disruptorā€ - but they have no conversation options. I can neither assist nor learn from them, and the the option to actually become overseer (at the settlement terminal) is greyed out.

If they won’t accept me, why did they ask me to come?

They do have cat-like features on some Autophage. I suspect that, like cats, they can sense your dislike of settlements.

Currently updating onto Switch 2…

Then to add Switch to my cross save…

You need to have 300 Atlandium in inventory. Freighter inventory wont work.
Then you need to build the main office building.

That worked. Thank you.

I guess I just have to sit at my old settlement and wait for an autophage request…but what are the odds it will be on a planet I can’t stand…and am I ever going to get said request…

Glad it worked out. Only 3 things I hate about this update.

  1. Still no turrets
  2. No buildable Energy dome to protect storms
  3. Time Gates.
