Base Building

nearing completion

@toddumptious Did you put in a special request?

I’d been asking advice and mentioned I was just about to finish my first one (mid section of mako reactor, which I linked later when he responded with some advice on triplets) and I guess it inspired him to do the main section ;0; Dude is crazy good <3

Edit:

@sheralmyst

Oh wow, nice tip. I forgot the cave creeper was an expedition reward so my console playthrough missed it during its hiatus. I’ve been meaning to visit the base on PC and add some but I feel guilty about having two machines running at once so I try to limit that. Thanks to this now I don’t have to worry about that

Returned to one of my expedition bases and added a few things.
Critter house for my companion.

Oh I must return to check it out now that base visibility is working properly for me again. It was Eardog Sigma?

I have one on Eardog. That is Waterfalls Terrace. This one is on the RV 2 planet. Dusty Flats base
pics and coords
Just a little shack where I am busy gathering and hiding away all printed books for preservation

I was starting to wonder if maybe we got a different RV 2 so I decided to use the portal glyphs. That’s when I found out the long way that we don’t have portal glyphs given to us on this Expedition

I did realise that in a pinch when you have no tech to find Monoliths and no race item to find a portal, you can just check the Space Station and if there is one, a “photograph a portal” mission will direct you straight to one.

I never thought this was a thing now because originally they did not give mission guidance.

When I return to the RV systems now, none of the ones I go to are marked as discovered by the Vanguard (HG). This is the first time this has ever happened. So I remembered later and took some pics with coords. Hopefully they work…will have to see which planet I am on.
Edit: yesterday no planets discovered by the Vanguard. Today, all discovered by the Vanguard

We’re going to need more save spaces for our bytebeat players with the rate and quality Artisan does these at.

I think Yes we have WiFi is more or less done, I’m sure I’ll add some more deco here and there but this is it for now. It also houses my bytebeat take on Hard to Stand on Two Feet. For now it lives on Expedition but will be coming back to main iteration with me when completed.

I have two neighbours but one of them is my steam-iteration, supplying power via an underwater hotspot.

I also just realised the suns never actually sets here, it never becomes night time, I thought I was just getting lucky on my visits.

Someone built another epic cyberpunk city in nms. On Console with glitch building and 3000 pieces ;-;

Which just demonstrates again that we need to be able to populate bases with actual NPCs and services as in Starbound.

For Expedition 12 I saved as many Bipedal creatures to my Wonder Projector as I could just to make the cafe I built seem busy and trendy. Hoping some silicon valley type will buy it up before they realise the majority of our users are bots.

Made a video tour of current base for fun

also just noticed the “video” tab in your youtube uploads dashboard now says “content”. I hate how reductive that word is. “Books are great cos they sure hold a lot of content.” They’re trying to turn the arts into the produce industry :frowning:

“CEO” mentality tainting everything. Some people don’t seem so bothered by the term “content” and for younger generations it’s just normal I guess but I find it gross and weird.

Came across this player base on my travels through blue star systems nestled around the Expeditions RV points.

I could see the circular room silo before I crested the hill so I was expecting the usual player base of circular rooms, planters and portal.

I love being wrong

Blue Bayou was the base name :+1:

There’s lots more to it not pictured and uses the landscape very well in its design <3

Extra nice but where is the lightning? Shoulda built it on a stormy planet.
Now I want to build Paradiso with the rooftop bar and the slummy employee quarters tucked out of sight

I had a spare biodome as I’d built one too many, my new friends suggested I put the place up for rent on AeronBnB.

Very quickly I had two new residents and they made themselves at home before I’d even memorized their names.

They seem very keen about keeping visitors out and get quite uppity when I ask what they’re growing… Whatever it is I just can’t figure it out… As you can see they’ve concealed the entrance with carpet and even graffitied the floor outside…

While I have stopped building and adding to this base myself, construction has not finished.

The big guy on the right claims to be a sculptor and a religious devout and I think he’s the kind to act first and ask for forgiveness later because he’s just started making the grow hub his own outdoor gallery. (And let’s not forget the spray tagging!)

I’ve heard of AeronBnB horror stories and I’m worried I’ll end up in one, but they pay on time and don’t make much noise.
