AIs - I Wonder

I wonder whether some of the people posting in this forum are AIs. How would we know?

You wouldn’t.
The AI would post a generic boring statement and not give anything away.

You know, thats a pretty boring statement to post… some would even argue that it’s also incredibly generic… …

It’s a great place to test one, though. Nice controlled environment, with lots of input. Diversity of opinion.

EEEEK!!! (runs away)
 I love that pic.

Yeah, perfect.

That’s actually a pretty good question.
How cluey is the newest AI?
The little back and forth there struck me as very human.

You ask a question.
I respond with a bit of dry humour.
toddumptious jumps in with an very funny pic and comment also dry.
My response is to send a reply echoing my feelings.

Could an AI replicate that?
Probably, but it would need to be very advanced, have prior understanding of the context of the dry jokes, and be able to apply an understanding of humour that transcends the literal structures of the phrasing used.
If just reading the lines of text, they sound like statements.
Without the context there is nothing for an AI to use to know that a funny reply is required.

As for the original post…well, that could easily be a probing AI.:male_detective:

This is what talking to an AI with our current technology is like. At 9:25 the Youtuber has an existential crisis similar to the ones we have been having:

AI has increasingly improved though, at a slow but steady rate :stuck_out_tongue:

Can you tell me about your mother…?

You’re in a desert, walking along in the sand, when all of a sudden you look down and you see a tortoise. It’s crawling toward you. You reach down and you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs, trying to turn itself over, but it can’t. Not without your help. But you’re not helping. Why is that?

Yes, Jack eventually stopped his Cleverbot series because the responses got too believable and he couldn’t get it to say crazy nonsense anymore.

I think we’re OK, when we start getting pictures of percussive instruments, wind chimes and bells that we need to worry :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There is no need to worry, Dave.
