the change has come to the requirements to get to the center … it appears warp theta is needed to get to the center now.
One nice change in v1.34: You now also can teleport from space station to space station.
Well, my base terminal has my current system listed twice and no matter which I choose it keeps bringing me back to my base…
This might sound like a stupid question but have you teleportd from the station to your base yet?
Yes, a couple of times. After the last update I noticed the current station listed twice.
@William, @Xion4012, @Wyo …so it wasn’t just me, now even more excited!!! Yes, they are listening, here feeling ever-more encouraging towards weather extremes like this and of all kinds…now wanting to storm-chase…maybe one day
must now try to capture a lightening flash on camera…
I might add that last night, one would take me to the station and the other would keep me in my base, today they both kept me home. Had to fly to the station but was able to warp back to base. !
So while my mission to capture the lightening continues, something new I have heard more than once is a definite variation in creature sounds. Anyone else? I had been enjoying reading the wishes thread where this was mentioned where to one, the high-pitched mewing was a thing most fond of but to another, akin to a baby crying! The subjectiveness of sound…me I find the mews very cute but feel actual distress if one is suddenly loud as thinking I must’ve trodden on one or something…though my Katana 7.1 headset (bought last year specifically for this game, though transfers perfectly to my PC as well) especially doing its surround thing certainly contributes to how intense that feels. Still, getting back on track, yes last night I found a dream planet, forest-type with oceans, nice climate, low security and various types of bouncing mushroom creatures who when they bounce past me, give a sound in my ear like a windy horn, and of differing pitches too I am sure! It’s so amazing! Needless to say following a recent happening and being adrift for a while planet-to-planet, I have made this my new home (there is also a very hostile small blue crab who if I dare go near his cave on the beach, he scuttles out at me, loudly which makes my skin shiver, though I mimic his sound perfectly but still he does not accept me…will keep trying).
Same as you guys. At the start of a storm I’ve seen the flash. Would be very cool to have that during the storm too.
So there is hope for the masochist wish of maybe soon being surprised by a storm in the middle of a “field”, seeing a flash, and then staring at a black screen with a quote from Nicola Tesla… Cursing and swearing to pay more attention to the weather updates of my exosuit, next time… Weird wishes, I know…
I think so, yes…could even fade to black with a crackling, sizzling sound as we meet our crispy end, the Tesla quote emerging through the final jet black screen as we reflect, in shock, on the shock…
…endurance trophy for standing in said field, waiting? Although the post-strike grave photo-op would be all the temptation I need!
I’ve not been online since 1.34 has come live, so still playing on 1.33… And, if wow… Just realized! Sorry if it has been noted, and already, but but… I’m in awe! Atlas stations and space-station actually rotate! And so does the backdrop. I think the planets are all still static in reference to each other, but just KUDOS for that ninja-feature!
I’m not in the mood to be killed outright by anything, nor to see any tornadoes or hurricanes. The Sim is hazardous enough as it is. If Team Mercury is ever crazy enough to put such devastation in the universe, they can rightly push it off to Survival or Instadeath Mode, thank you.
Fair enough… But take a look at our own solar system! The Mercury Process is like an all-included five-star vacation resort of a universe compared to real-life conditions…
;0; Do they rotate while viewing from a planet? That would be amazing! I was only thinking yesterday I don’t see space stations from a planets surface as often as I used to, turns out they were, turning!?
Are they turning on there own axis or orbiting the planet or both?
Tornadoes, lightning, rain storms, more variety in the weather would be an awesome and welcome change, and add to the exploration aspect; but you’re right about being killed outright. We don’t need to be killed outright by anything. Instant deaths just feel cheap and unfair, even in survival mode.
If you want mechanics that will kill you instantly while exploring a new and hazardous world, may I suggest Don’t Starve?
They indeed orbit the planet from surface view! But since the backdrop does too, the feeling it gives is of the actual planet rotating… But then you look at another planetary body in the sky, and it stays fixed, the impression goes back to being the station that orbits.
*edit: Atlas stations, too, now orbit the planet from the surface.
Well, the chance of deadly effects would not be “universal”, and in my mind, only an unprotected player would perish right away… And even those could actually pay attention to the exosuit warning-system… Chance for better/sooner weather prediction technology… C’mon Emily! All those bells we uploaded sure helped you to know when it is going to rain before the drops hit the sensors of our suit!
