I’ve been thinking this same thing. I posted a rather long speculation on that which could have been more concise like yours. But I think I’m suffering mold allergies, getting yuckie.
I’m thinking that Atlas’ creation and/or seizing control of the universe and/or making that time bubble at the Atlas Foundation has caused a huge splash in the timestream, and it’s rippling into the past, causing effects like these. We still have so many clues unsolved… we might be losing at this contest.
It’s an endurance race, not a sprint. We’re still on phase 1, after all.
