This is a picture of my first gas giant base. I apologise for the picture quality, but that’s as good as visibility gets here. It’s crude and functional, but it’s only intended to be a starter point for further exploration.
My reason for posting was that while inside the building, an extreme wind event picked me up and started throwing me against the walls. That was inside the building.

Seems to be the way.
I chose Korvax, flood and horror.
The system I was sent to didn’t have payload y (horror/infested planet) but it did have a planet marked as Payload Beta and the system was a Korvax system.
It seems if it can’t point us to a nearby purple system that meets all our parameters it does it’s best to get as close as possible.
Such a smart feature, pat’s on the back for whoever’s idea this was at HG <3
@BoomstickJoe
Ps5 has been a buggy bee, guess it’s why it took so long for it to arrive compared to other platforms, whatever way certification is checked they probably hit the weather effect masking bug immediately. I know me and @Mad-Hatter did
Hopefully a fix soon, seems like an easy remedy (I think the fix is already available in experimental mode for PC. How exactly do the steam community test for PS5 fixes
)

Something odd seems to have happened to build mode. I go into build mode, I start building, and the game drops back into regular mode for no obvious reason. It’s happened numerous times over the last few hours. It’s almost as if they’ve introduced a timer - you’re only allowed to spend so long building, then you have to stop? I don’t know. I’m on a gas giant, and there are extreme events happening around me - maybe they’re affecting it.

This happened to me a lot these past few months, I always attributed it to some unseen creature or force moving my character and disabling build mode for some reason.
It can be annoying at times
Blame the wind, I feel like it’s been happening ever since they introduced wind direction.
Come to think of it, the frequency it happens might be related to how often the wind shifts direction.
Or it’s just the gas giant storms screwing with you
Which is still the wind. Stupid wind, making life possible but also making life miserable depending on altitude.

The creature interference is very real. If there are any flying creatures in the area, they can push you out of build mode.
With all of the gravity-defying rocks etc… introduced in this update, it could now also include the ground pushing you out of build mode.
Just re watched the deep dive.
Trillions of new planets added
Each time they push the engine in LNF, they want to share it with the NMS community…so there we have it.
Official.

I found my first gas giant, decided to visit it’s moons first.
First stop was a paradise moon with water.
I found a trading station upon entering Atmos and landed there.
It was on a slant. I’ve never seen a poi generate on an incline and skip flattening the ground around it to be in line with horizon.
Was very noticeable, hopefully screens capture it aptly.

I have seen those slanted planets and moons before. It seems to be due to the really small size of the planet.
Here is my first gas giant. What a rush!
A lightning filled rock-nado. Terrifying
Liquifaction? But it retreated as I approached…

I wish we could take static screenshots where the gas giants still animate. The stills don’t get across just how beautiful they are in motion…
Or how big. It took me a loooong time just to get to a moon on the other side of one.
I also love how they appear on th galaxy map, just this huge off centre titan with orbits around it <3

I hopped into a cave for a break from the ravages of the surface. The cave kept descending, deeper and deeper til it finally ended here
No idea how deep I am but the silence is in such contrast to the surface. I can hear dripping and echoes of unknown origin. This is one of the coolest features of this update. The difference between surface and depths in both the ocean and land.
And I finally found a use for the custom markers. I want to build a base here but my BC needs to be on the surface so my ship does not spawn 5 miles below the surface

Oh wow, what a wonderful find. Can’t wait to go spelunking in the new terrain generation.
I landed on my first moon with water, a paradise planet.
Because it was a high and hilly terrain, all of the water is below ground since the surface never goes low enough to make a coast.
This led to a unique situation where the only water you find is in the cave systems. Flooded cave network
If you’re on the lookout for a moon with vast bodies of water you may have to search for one with flat land and valleys
Guess I’m putting my headphones on 07

On my current gas giant, I had to enter a cave to find cobalt. I was immediately impressed by the comparison between the near impossible conditions outside, and the peace in the cave.
If I’m going to buid a serious, permanent base here, a really big cave seems to be the ideal option. You can put your base computer inside - so long as you put a landing pad just outside the entrance.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a moon full of ruins in the first gas giant system I reached during the story mission
(glyphs are for galaxy #50, Teyaypilny).
And speaking of the story mission...
Not sure if anyone else has posted this already, but I noticed a nice little nod to previous story clues in the initial hail that starts the mission: The hex displayed on the center monitor in your ship’s cockpit just says “AUTOPHAGE”

Warped into a purple system, trying to find one of those non gas giant titan planets they mentioned exist, normal planets of the same scale and surrounded by moons.
No results yet but I did come across this frozen planet that was a lot of fun to explore.
It caught my eye immediately as it spawned in without a visible atmosphere. I thought it might be a frozen planet with no atmosphere.
This turned out to be a glitch as there were clouds and atmos present upon entering.
The whole planet was blanketed in a sort of dark purple rocky substance, almost web like in its texture, it gave the impression of rolling waves frozen in motion.
This rocky icey surface would occasionally give away to small droppings of snow covered areas dotted with small forests, a place were life is permitted to grow.
Oh and giant acorns for clambering on
