Came with the last update. But it seems the improved lighting is making them even more vibrant in some systems
Canât wait to see if my old GTX960/4GB still lets NMS run.
Update: takes a while to initially load in but reasonable after that.
I really need to replace my old system and get a video card that meets recommended specs for 2024 Riven.
But I want ALL the reflections!
(Was at work late yesterday and havenât even downloaded it yet ) For VR on an older PC, would it help me to load up the planet normally first, and then quit and restart in VR? Or does VR have a separate cache? In case anybody knows.
Next month, AMD will release new CPUs, and Iâm planning to pair them with a new RTX, and then everything will be shiny.
It⌠seems to run better than before, to be honest. Though at first it had looked absolutely awful because all anti-aliasing was turned off, but itâs still running well after turning it back on, even with volumetrics somewhat turned up (all the fog and dust and particle stuff really adds to atmosphere, I have to sayâŚ)
Nah, shadows and reflections can both stay at the minimum. Theyâre the things my brain just filters out without giving them any consideration whatsoeverâŚ
The surface reflections set to low in nms new water meshes are very depressing and best left to off, but Iâm still gonna leave em on cos see AdaRynins post. About reflections. And all of them. I bought an RTX card my CPU and mobo have no business speaking to just so I could ray trace my Minecraft. I got lighting bias
Shadows and Reflections are the life breath of everything around me. They breath life into every setting. Nothing but ULTRA for me.
Got my first brood hunt nexus mission last night, my ship got stuck in the nexus and couldnât land on return. Havenât seen that bug in a loooong time. I had to abandon the quicksilver but progress on brood stompin and the rewards that gives were saved so it wasnât a complete disaster crash.
For anyone wondering how to find the brood in the wild, there are some signifiers. A scanned planet will tell you there are brood infestations in its descriptors, similar to ancient bones, etc. I spent my first few hours going planet to planet scanning and scouring before I realised this
It does not need to be a worm infested planet either, seems most planets can have brood infestations.
There are unique rewards already available for defeating broods, but I wonât spoil what those are here
Carry on discussing all the wonders of Worlds here.
Itâs not even the weekend and already active player count on steam is 21,947, looks like theres a lot of returning and/or new players coming in for Worlds
If memory serves, steam player counts been usually sitting around 12-15 thousand just after an update drops and before the weekend highs.
Sundays 20:00 UTC usually record the highest player counts so will be interesting to see where it goes. The sunday after the previous expedition arrived, the player count peaked at 20,000. The weekend of the free update, player count peaked at 23,000 on the first sunday.
I think the last time they had this many players on a thursday after an updates release was September 2020 (Origins!)
And this is only part one guys! Very happy for the team and the apparent success of this update <3
The screenshot says 1â45â', how do I read this? 1 foot is 30 cm. 45 inch are roughly 115 cm? So 145 cm? But 145cm is ⌠5 feet or so. If they mean 5feet why not say 5feet?
I thought the same thing XD Did they print them out on a scroll? Took me a moment.
Iâve noticed the ps5 version does not have SSR for the water so it plays as if reflections are turned off. The water still looks lovely but now I know why i was getting Outcast vibes from it.
So if a world says it has a vile brood, how do you go about finding it? What am I looking for? I donât see anything in my visorâŚ
It will show up as a red icon on your visor, a little white grub on a red background. Similar to hazardous flora symbols.
I canât recall the name of them but its âsomething grubâ.
Once you collect the grub you use it in your inventory
There should be a white on red diamond icon with a gub on it. Looks similar to a worm nest, but the grub is curved over like a C instead of standing straight up. You may need to wander around till you find one.

Sometimes they may be buried. Use the terrain manipulator to uncover it with no issues.
Anyone find a world with those floating islands and waterfalls? Been system hopping for about 5 hours now and still nothing.
Planning to start the search tonight. I think I recall the patch notes saying it was happening on paradise planets but not sure if limited to those or will be a specific new biome itself.
edit:
Just double checked, it says
Gravitational distortions have warped some lush and tropical worlds, shaking loose floating islands that now drift in the atmosphere above the planetâs surface.
Those particular planet types are more common in yellow star systems which might help the search. I need to find one in a green star system, but might widen the search just to see one.
