Voyagers Update 6.0

So the Corvette has some tech already installed. The same you get in a regular ship. I am finding they cannot be moved because they say they cannot be installed in the tech slots.

These pieces do link together with other modules of their kind.

It is making it very difficult to arrange my tech slots efficiently.

Is this a bug? Does the pre installed tech do anything? I assume the hyperdrive is needed.

Yes it can’t be moved(for now), I had to use the starship upgrader to upgrade the class of my corvette to then add more tech slots just to give the immovable slots some breathing room.

All other tech you install that is classically in a starship, can be moved after installation, unlike the ones built-in (pulse engine, landing gear, warp drive, shield, pulse cannon).

The other issue is, after installing fresh tech on to your corvette, after some time it will re arrange itself and even make duplicates of the new tech modules (cockpits, habs, engines, shields etc) in empty slots. A restart will clear these duplicates but not fix the rearrangement.

I’d say it (immoveable starship starter tech) will be an issue fixed in a recent enough patch.

Here’s a shot of my current tech load out with my corvette (minus rearranging bug or duplicate bug).

If I catch a snap of it changing later I’ll add it here for comparison sake

The reactor and the cockpit modules also link up for adjacency bonus however I have them separate as they’re both on booster slots which separately works out better than them being together with one booster slots. By a huge margin.

Should be noted that way back in 2018 there were a lot fewer platform options. No way to measure outside of HG’s servers, but they probably already have the biggest peak user load they have ever had.

Ay. But I bet they wouldn’t look like the pirate one showing at reddit.

I’ve been on the lookout for a crashed corvette.

I didn’t expect that the first one I found would be my own.

The most obvious thing to do is fly it out of there …

But I can’t. The cockpit is full of soil. I can’t get into the pilot’s seat.

OK, easily solved. I just need to find a nice open, flat piece of land with no obstructions, and summon it, right?

Wrong. It refuses to be summoned to land anywhere on this planet. Probably why it crashed when I teleported in in the first place.

It’s fitted with mag thruster landing gear. It should be able to hover, level, on any surface - but it doesn’t. Instead it’s buried itself in the ground like a dead whale dropped from 10,000 feet.

I guess you’re just going to have to… Corvettabouddit.

The piracy is infectious

Terrain Manipulator doesn’t help?

I’m gonna bet it doesn’t work. It doesn’t when near a regular starship.

Just a note (if no one has mention it yet) removing a rotated or flip corvette part will return it to inventory, but it will be unusable. If you look carefully, you should see the part in a separate stack that cannot be merged in your inventory somewhere.

Sadly, @sheralmyst is correct. My multitool won’t operate anywhere inside (or near) a ship.

It’s quite the puzzlement. Looks like I’ll have to use some jiggery-pokery.

(Edit)

The solution I settled on in the end was to teleport back to a space station, which brought my corvette with me- then to summon one of my regular ships.

Doing this put my corvette in storage - but at least I have a ship I can land.

The update information says that corvette parts can be found in crashed freighters. I have now thoroughly investigated 5 crashed freighters, and I haven’t found a single one. If they do exist on crashed freighters, they’re vanishingly rare.

Given that salvageable scrap always gives corvette parts - often multiple parts - I’d say that searching crashed freighters was a waste of time. Don’t bother.

There are certain parts I have yet to find at all. Mostly the streamlined parts and many of the decorative pieces

According to @DevilinPixy ‘s data mining, there are 107 construction parts, plus a handful of interior decoration parts that don’t show up in the purchase / trade lists.

I have been collecting scrap, and storing it in storage containers at my base - I’ve done this to spare my backpack inventory, although it has the added benefit of keeping most of my collection well away from disappearing part problems in the build menu.

I take only the parts I think I will use to the space station for building. The rest stay out of harm’s way at my base. It’s long-winded, but a lot safer until the bugs are worked out. The corvette I showed earlier was built entirely from scrap - I didn’t buy any of it (thinking about it, that’s possibly why it crashed  ).

Having tried a number of planets with salvage, I’ve found one with reasonable weather and geography, minimal sentinels, and plentiful scrap dumps. I only do my scavenging there, now. I’m pretty confident I’ve found all the available parts - and most of them came from a single planet.

Well deserved player peak for HG!

I had the same experience with those bugs (ship module slots, very few corvette modules in crashed freighters, confusion about modules returned to inventory).

I was showing (discord streaming) the update to someone on discord who was considering reinstalling NMS, and I noticed that all NPCs are stuck to one location. Is that a new bug? In my freighter as well as in my settlements, they used to walk around. Recently, they just stand there and turn in circles. At least it’s no longer three of them turning in circles in the same same spot anymore, as it was before the update.
When I arrive at a certain settlement, it’s always this friendly guy standing at the teleporter, who gets right in my face!

PS:

I walked away a few 100 metres and returned after a while, and some NPCs in a settlement freed themselves and managed to find the way out of their stuck path finding loop! I don’t know where their spawnpoint was, maybe they spawned in a better location.

Exp patch just fixed the immovable tech, however, a lot of it was rearranged…

These have been added to the Anomaly

but my hatch is broken now…

I can confirm I have found corvette modules in crashed freighters, I have only come across two and one of the containers on both contained three corvette modules.

I either got very lucky or you’ve been very unlucky.

I’ve also tested out the other methods of getting corvette parts.

Derelicts guarantee them as an end reward, not sure if they can be found searching containers on board yet but so far no joy there.

I wasn’t getting any on frigate missions, but I was sending out organics with the fleets.

I tried the latest batch without any organics to stop some of the pool been taken over by psyonic eggs etc, and I was lucky to get a Corvette part from the pool on that one.

So if you’re trying this method, increase your likelihood by keeping the squids at home.

Oh, I have yet to see them as loot from pirates (is it regular pirates ? or pirate freighter reward maybe?)

Nor have I seen them as a mission reward but I have not been actively checking or taking on missions that much at the moment

Did they add even more steam? I feel like I should not be standing here.

It ended up at around 93,000 on steam for the peak Sunday hour, got closer to 100k than I was expecting.

Maybe that secret society of discord leaders could try push their communities to go full on guerilla marketing and try get things past 100k for the expedition weekend :face_blowing_a_kiss:

I found one in a parked starship inside a derelict freighter, but not in the other containers and lockers.
