Among functional interior components, there’s at least a refinery, 10 cargo containers, garden, mission terminal, a kitchen, a ladder – the ladder was hard to find, because the interior and exterior build menus are subtly different. What other non-decorative components would you add?
I didn’t see any interaction on the health terminal.
Functional seating would be nice (currently it ejects you into space lol), or “laying in bed” to recharge health.
I managed to plant two resource flowers in the garden thingy, but they haven’t grown yet. I have the impression, if you do the interior design while parked on the freighter (not the station), then you get full access to materials in your cargo?
I saw a ladder and windows (which didn’t look transparent from all angles, maybe that was only a glitch). Are there also doors to go into other horizontally adjacent habs?
And all the other exterior pieces are just structural? Because the second found part I used happened to be a hab, too, it was just not named such. But then most others were just struts and covers. Are they supposed to add attachment points?
Removed parts seem to go back into inventory. I don’t think it functions right now.
I was hoping to store parts there.
But it seems it is supposed to hold reclaimed parts which seems to mean we are supposed to be able to scrap corvettes. But there is no options for that.
Maybe they wanted to work out some kinks in building before turning on scrapping..
I’ve come across an odd version of Damaged Machinery which I think may hint at salvageable Corvette sites in future.
Sometimes, on salvageable scrap planets I’m sometimes encountering a typical Damaged Machinery ‘lump’ but with an additional dual cog icon hovering above it called ‘Debris’. They are always fairly centraly located in those little flat ‘base’ areas near a location save point pole and (a couple of boxes or barrels). I also noticed they are always accompanied by a slightly glitchy Burried Technology module that can only be accessed from above.
I’m thinking a more complex salvagable crash site may be in the works and these are a placeholder.
Having built my first corvette within an hour of the download, I’ve spent the rest of my time searching for scrap salvage - but while doing that, I’ve also been on the lookout for crashed ships, on the basis that there may be crashed corvettes.
I’ve found lots of regular crashed ships, several sentinel ships, and a few crashed freighters - but not a sniff of a crashed corvette.
I assume that they don’t exist yet, or they’re very, very rare.
I think it is something that is yet to come but the unused terminal for Corvette parts at space stations & those odd ‘base’ areas I mentioned in my earlier post are good indications that there is more under development.
Well wasn’t talking ships, but bases but in regards to ship:
10 cargo, we have these in various versions already
kitchen, refiner. same
med unit , bed can’t be used.
So only thing is really the door and mission terminal. We could have actual air systems, water, sleeping, engine rooms, scanners, teleports, storage tanks for water/air. Like more immersive systems.
BASES?
Terraforming, water, air, power based on air/water/lava/ , shield generators, turrets, terraforming. Air purifiers for toxic enviroments. Acid rain, Lava / Earth quakes…i could give you tons.
According to the patch notes this is the function of the storage area by the corvette terminal
So it acts mostly as a safety net if you bulk buy some parts with a full inventory.
The ships can be upgraded at the regular starship terminal, as well as dis-assembled.
I’ve yet to try this though, so I’m not sure if it refunds all parts or just some, but this is where you would do it.
I might just make a quick peice of jank ship and test this out now
Nevermind, the salvage analysis reveals the corvettes cannot be salvaged from this terminal.
It seems the only way for now is exchange a corvette for a regular ship and then scrap that. But you won’t get anything back so… Wait until they patch in a corvette disassembler I guess.
I was thinking about this as well as NPC Corvettes. They would either need to have some presets it can draw from, or have something in place that can proc gen a believable ship design from the parts available.
I don’t think they have anything like the latter in place, but if they can pull it off it’s definitely now very high on my wish list.
The windows look like they have things covering them up when building but will be transparent when constructed.
Doors are added automatically when habs and hallways are joined.
After exchanging the test corvette I had built for destruction to an NPC, there was still an icon where my corvette once was saying “previously boarded corvette”. But no sign of my Corvette nor the Gek taking off in it.
I decided to check the corvette module refund box anyway, just in case the game is nice and refunds some of the bits when you exchange for a regular ship (wishful thinking).
There was however a new option down the bottom, that said “Buy and Add To Collection” with a price too. I cannot activate the button but it seems to be implying the invisible corvette that now belongs to a Gek NPC is purchaseable from this terminal.
While this is clearly a gui glitch or error, it might hint that there may be more function given to this terminal in a future update. Perhaps NPC’s will start landing in Corvettes we can purchase?
Going into future update speculation here…
We can upload our bases, wouldn’t it be neat if we could upload our corvette designs?
The game could pull these designs from the network to randomise the corvettes that NPC’s arrive in, and maybe even keep track of how many people purchased your design from a random NPC. This would eliminate the need for coding in a proc gen corvette builder for introducing NPC corvettes or keeping them to a handful of presets.
I played Spore and Little Big Planet a lot so I would love for something like this to happen <3
We do open the community up to grief though, mass reporting phallic or hate symbol ships would become widespread in those first few weeks/months for sure.
I’m wondering: Should you have a completely full suit inventory AND design a much smaller Corvette than your previous one AND you finalise the new build… Is this when the unused, ‘refunded’ parts end up in the overflow cache?
Has anyone ever seen anything end up in the cache? I’d love to know how to utilise this.
Fixed bug that made “dis-assemble Corvette” button invisible on all platforms
patch note any day now
The corvette missions are handed back in where you accept them from (Corvette Mission Radar) so this seems like an odd error or bug.
A heads up to anyone who hasn’t tried them yet, and a mistake I’ve made twice now They must be completed in the play session, saving and leaving will also remove the mission just like Nexus missions.
The quicksilver missions on corvettes are also linked to the same daily cap as the Nexus, so no increase on daily allowance with these but definitely an easier trip to make for QS than going all the way in and out of the Space Anomaly
edit:
Some thoughts on recovering what you can from a corvette you want to get rid of.
You can edit a corvette after assembly, but you cannot save the corvette if its not a functional ship.
It’s a bit of a long route around but, if there are pieces you want to retrieve you will have to go in and take them out manually, leave the ship in a flyable state, save and exit. Then exchange the corvette for a regular starship with an NPC and scrap it.
You can even buy some of the basic modules and replace the cockpit/landing gear etc to retrieve those too while saving, as they are parts that must remain in order to save the build without it reverting.
Well it kinda sucks that it is for overflow purchased parts. I need it for salvaged parts. My pockets are running over and I still don’t have the parts I want. Not being entirely sure of what I may want later, it is difficult to let so much go for trading…I need that extra storage.
I have built a large corvette just for storing corvette parts, I switch over to it in the space station when storing/retrieving new bits and then switch back to my starship or the corvette I’m using/tinkering with.
My exocraft are already full of dino bones and starship parts.
Not sure if anyone else is encountering this, but I just noticed that I will have a corvette part, place it, remove it, and it disappears?
Its in my inventory, but its no longer selectable from the build menu. I have, for example, 8 thunderbird corridors, 5 cockpits, maybe 20 wings, a variety of boosters….
…but they are not selectable in the build menu, only 1 wing and 1 booster show as available.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? I have my pockets full with parts I want to place.
