The Unique CSD Identifier

Ah, I’m ‘shrimp’. I don’t even like shrimps : (

You’re probably right about it being just a unique identifier, and I guess that’s why some people may be getting stuff that doesn’t quite match up with characters. Maybe they started with Chinese, or something else, and just cycled through. Depending on how many people/unique addresses were participating they’d run out of characters eventually.

I liked mine, I guess I was lucky

(hm, not sure how to reply to multiple people in the same post. I guess that’s what the tutorial is for…)

Our codes all have 10 hex digits, I believe. This can of course somehow be translated to Unicode, but there is no single logical way to do so. Unicode has a huge range and contains characters from many languages. Large chunks of Unicode are empty as well. Depending on how the 10 digit value is interpreted, this will yield many different results. For example, using the DuckDuckGo converter:

  • 12345ABCDE > 볞
  • 12345 ABCDE > ⍅볞
  • 1234 5ABC DE > ሴ媼Þ
  • 12 34 5A BC DE > 4Z¼Þ
  • 123 45A BCD E > ģњ்

As you can see, there are many ways to interpret this 10 digit hex value. Depending on your own code, you will often end up with characters from different sets of Unicode as well. You could have characters from different languages combined. I truly doubt this our 10 digit hex value has anything to do with Unicode. It is in my opinion, nothing more than a unique identifier assigned to each individual who signed up. You may even want to keep this ID to yourself, as I am not quite sure how it is being used. In some of the emails we received, it is part of URLs assigned to us to be able to tell who we are.

didn’t really follow the post so Apologize if I come with something out of the ball, but even if now everyone is invited to be a CSD, those who did the pre tests (notably the shipping afresse) will be those who will maybe get an Atlas V4 @home?
What do you guys think?

My han symbol means Fountain or Spring

How poetic

Is the unique CSD identifier located in the emails here:

“Hello, Citizen Scientist [ xxxxxxxxxx ]”

??

Oh, that’s an obscure one… I’ll look it up in my handy physical dictionary…

and it’s not there, which means it’s pretty obscure… other reliable online dictionary comes up nothing, although it seems to be used in Cantonese…

Well, you got an interesting one, I can say that much

Yes, that’s what I meant. Not sure if there’s a better term for it.

OH, C’mon! What was yours?

That’s a valid concern. I’ve been unable to divine my ID from the translation I pasted here, but maybe someone with a bit more savvy could.

Think this thread poses a security risk?

Comparing emails that for example link to those Typeforms for user questions, only differ with ID, so knowing someone else’s ID, could potentially allow for someone to fill in the form that is linked with that ID. It will not do any real harm or pose a true security risk. It can however mess up data being collected for the ID used, so I prefer to keep mine private.

I think those are fair points. I’d make another point, which is that the pessimist in me believes that we’ll soon see a wave of trolls coming to these forums… So keep everything private and only share sensible information with regular users via direct messaging.

Yes with the HG’s mail now public we can be sure that many more people will be there.

At least 712 accounts have been created.

The CDS classes will become relevant at some point according to the Q&A that was had with Bob on Reddit the other night

I think it was Bob I could be wrong there, but Bob also confirmed that there was an alternate ending if we had made some different choices

Mine translated to . Which is a symbol on cameras. I think it may just be luck or something else. lol

My thought was that they are tied to whatever access/ effect the Atlas 4 passes have in game. In this theory, each designation type would have different benefits and tasks that may be tied to the ARG that just completed.

Took me a while, but mine translates to “Go”.

I think the names themselves are arbitrary. It was just another fun puzzle to solve.

:drooling_face::stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I’m totally joking, btw…
