Recent rain & humidity has made for good conditions for some fungi pictures

Spooky wizard fireball.

It’s actually a phone pic of the recent lunar eclipse as viewed from the southern hemisphere.
Heavy humidity plus the inability for the phone to focus properly resulted in this rather cool image.
In person it was very dark red & evil looking but even with the phone camera on nightmode, zoomed in & held very still, I was not able to get ‘good’ image & instead got this lighter, wispy image.

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: thanks! It is a large mouth bass, for those not from around here. Bass fishing is a big deal. There are tournaments every year. My grandpa participated in tournament bass fishing in the years before he died.

Some people love the challenge. Bass fight fairly hard once hooked.

The video below reminded me of the Metal Earth kits, but this is on another level …

I would not be amazed if it would actually run and drive!

I don’t know how people work out things like this in their head:head_shaking_vertically:

Spice Rack

Working on a little project that will be laser cut out of 5mm thick plywood. I designed it for use with square glass herb jars I have collected for some time at my local grocery store. I think I am satisfied with the design result so far.

Measurements are 250mm x 440mm x 65mm (W x H x D)
Some quick Blender renders

I’ll likely be doing the laser cutting coming wednesday.

@DevilinPixy Wow, that’s so cool to have the skills to do this kind of work! I admire this kind od DIY because I’m absolutely hopeless at it. :smiling_face_with_tear: Nails, hammer, screws andd screwdriver—that’s about it for me, haha.

I saw that you assemble model kits (Enterprise) in your spare time. Nice piece, do you paint them aswell?

@sheralmyst : Crochet, analytical drawing! The Fish is sick, wow!

@Mad-Hatter I see that you also like the find mushrooms old friend. Well I think I might just have a few pictures for you that will blow your mind! We found so many last season!! Tbc

For my part I think I have a decent level of skill in traditional collage, and sometimes I post a few of my best ones on Instagram!

For those of you who are curious, and for those who use Instagram, my username is Arpodraw!

I’ll give it a go and leave you with a little preview here!

@arpoja Thank you! I am pretty handy at a lot of things and not scared to give anything a try. I do have a background with woodworking and furniture making, as well as interior design.

I have only done one of them so far, not gotten to the others just yet, but I do plan to make those too. I actually like the bare metal, so I am likely keeping them as they are. There are actually Metal Earth sets that come in coloured metal, the ‘premium series’.

Update on the Spice Rack:

Laser cutting done! Only took 17 minutes. Had to slightly upscale the SVG result to match actual dimensions in the machine’s software. Glad I checked to verify!

Fits very nicely together, so I sanded it down on the top/bottom sides and glued it together. Next week I’ll make a second one, before giving both a coating (varnish).

Very happy with the result so far

Ohhh, almost forgot!

Glass Engraving

This was my first small assignment to get familiar with that same laser machine. The laser is old, so glass engraving is not super anymore, but still pretty cool.

I love it! The shelf and the glass.

I found some more mushrooms. There has been so much rain lately.

Those are pretty cool! Those particles on the second (apparently) third image shroom, are those part of the shroom? So evenly spread and stuck to the cap? Looks really interesting and makes me wonder about some sort of purpose to it.

Somehow there’s nothing that feels more scifi than talking about an old laser that has seen better days…

The yellow shroom? Yes those are part of the shroomy. There are some leafy bits on there but the little white colored and brownish spots are part of the cap

Oh wow, I didn’t realise the same machine for laser cutting wood could also be used to engrave glass, this is amazing!

That ACSD cup looks like it would go great with coffee in it

At first I thought that said “Powered by ETARC” :joy:
