I recently ran across a discussion about NMS elsewhere on the internet, in which one person was proclaiming that limits on the number of base components make the game ‘unplayable.’

Unplayable is an extreme exaggeration due to a particular player’s fixation on being Bob the Builder. It sounds like he never read up on the game, never watched build videos and subsequently bought the wrong game.

I mean, if he’s used to satisfactory or something, I can perfectly see where he’s coming from. Of course that’s kind of like calling Baldur’s Gate unplayable due to the limited size of your army. Most games become unplayable when you try to play them as the completely wrong genre…

Unplayable is an extreme exaggeration due to a particular player’s fixation on being Bob the Builder.

I had to laugh at this, because a lot of people might describe my style of play as “Bob the Builder.” I have pretty much developed a reflex response of “I ran out of X, I will build a mining base and that will never happen again.” Even in my current play, which was supposed to be a permadeath run just to get out of the galaxy…I found a wrecked ship yesterday, and despite the fact that I probably could have sprinted through the plot and ‘finished’ today I “had to” build a dioxite mine and a paraffinium mine.

There is also a limit on certain items like the rolled up map in the canister. I was going to fill a cabinet with them on their side so just the map part was exposed and the game limited me to something like 10. I was very disappointed

Really demonstrating my commitment to getting out of the galaxy ASAP…the Paraffin source was in the water, so of course the ‘simple mining base’ ended up with a fishing deck.

Gas giants and space nebulae can line up for some delicious photos. Remember, before lighting a match, always check for gas

Sky being reflected brings so much to the environment now. Water worlds can be very cosy as a result
