If only we had directions nationwide before we reached 110F heat index. Now it really is difficult to wear one outside. Now, if people will just pull the thing up over their nose…
And summer in most US states is hotter than in Europe, I bet. Now I’m glad that we did the whole shutdown in March/April already, when it was only (European) spring!
The only good news I can give you is, you get used to the masks after a while. And you can stick a wire across the nose edge and shape it to prevent glasses from steaming up.
You could look into face shields, too, or are they not allowed as an alternative?
Some are wearing shields but usually only in medical or sometimes restaurant situations. It is hard enough to get people to just wear a mask.
CNN: Study confirms new version of coronavirus spreads faster, but doesn’t make people sicker.
Having a 'pulling my hair out" moment.
My mom’s best friend’s husband died in her arms this morning. Not from Covid. Naturally, my mom put on a mask and went over to console her from.a distance. When she got there, both their grown kids, who are waiting test results because of exposure, were there. One was inside and would not wait outside. I can at least understand that. His dad just died but then the local volunteer Fire Dept amd medics show up because they all knew him. They were not there to help because they were not the ones who respond to a death. NONE of them wore a mask. NONE. The daughter is a Nurse Practitioner…awaiting test results…no mask. My mother had the only mask. And now she is quarantined for 2 weeks…she is 82 and I am so angry I cannot find words. When the actual responders showed up, they were suited up like hazmat. I hope it scared the crap out of the rest of them.
This is a truely disturbing turm of events. I fear the data will be distorted and people will be misled into a false sense of security
Totally agree. If the gov had said “copy CDC” that’s one thing (though still not good IMHO), but excluding the CDC makes future announced data suspect. (sigh)
What a complete arse
CBS News: Georgia Governor Kemp bans cities from ordering people to wear face masks.
He thinks it’s better for businesses to open up on the early side, despite horrible trends in the state. Profit before people. That’s bad enough, but other articles I’ve read say that opening too soon actually hurts businesses and the economy more in the long run.
There are ways to help people financially, but there’s no helping a dead person or one with permanent body damage due to a COVID-19 infection.
I’m reminded of the old saying, “He can’t see the forest for the trees.” (SIGH)
Thank goodness!
Close - open - close again because you opened too soon. Not wise.
Ahhhh…so sweet.

Just a perspective most of us are not exposed to
The Daily Beast: I Was an Army COVID Planner. Trust Me: Texas Is F*cked…
Statewide mandantory mask starts today. Nearby town has a gas station with a HUGE burly bouncer-lookin’ guy standing outside loudly announcing “No mask! No entry!” In one way I applaud this but I am really afraid someone is gonna get shot…the world has gone totally crazy!
We shouldn’t have to tell people to do the right thing.
I heard that a certain president that shall not be named now shows himself wearing masks and does at least the minimum to not corner his followers in a situation where they choose loyalty to him over community health. I would have liked to hear the conversation that convinced him!
At the same time, most EU politicians make certain that they are publicly seen wearing a mask and they release videos where they elbow bump each other at meetings. Elbow bumping Angela Merkel sounds like a life goal, eh?
My wife’s take: “If you are bumping elbows, you are too close!”
