Project skyscraper / no man's sky arg

Not totally parallel - WT message modules were found inside of NMS, and the recent Expedition begins with “Hello, world”, also an element of this ARG. Plus there’s no guarantee that past precedents hold into the future!

Sure a clue was once hidden inside NMS at the beginning of the ARG, this was mostly just a big clue to let us know the ARG was definitely related to a NMS reveal.

The Hello World phrase pre-dates WT, and first appeared in the Rememberance logs that have been a part of NMS since it’s release, it’s one of the big post game reveals when we learn about the Atlas Creators and the true nature of 16/what the Atlas predicament is.

Again, just allusions to the game, Emily has no connection with Atlas/Void Mother etc. Atlas wasn’t even built by humans nor is it on Earth or any human colonised planet in the far flung future.

And of course “Hello World” itself is a sci fi trope showing up in many sci fi novels over the decades, and almost everything in NMS is a reference to some sci fi novel or trope in and of itself.

I see this mix up happening a lot, just trying to prevent it from spreading further.

People are of course, entitled to their own head canon so I won’t say no to that.

It’s not just headcanon (basically meaning fanfiction), it’s my theory as to where this ARG is headed. You disagree and that’s fine, but you’re discounting evidence of a connection in my opinion. Either way, time will tell.

Actually, “Hello World” is pretty much the first thing covered when learning most programming languages. That’s how it entered sci-fi.

Hello world is the first thing any software developer learns how to do in each language they learn. I saw it as a cool nod to the ARG but also CS hat nod as well. Too generalized for me to confidently say it was ARG specific tbh. Could be one of those “ah yea you saw that one too” from HG after all is said and done

Or the WHOIS commands which confirmed Emily’s (?) awareness of No Man’s Sky groups and content… that’s a pretty irrefutable connection I’d say.

Okay but, emily is not the atlas/void mother/etc. That’s all I’m trying to get across.

You’re getting the allusions to the game it is hyping, mixed up with the story it is also telling, they are kinda seperate things. Lots of ARGs do this, it’s pretty common. And ultimately they all end up being non-canon to the game they are advertisings, actual narrative. Our knowledge of the games story and content, will in all likelihood help us progress the ARG, but it is not part of the games story. Emily is not IN NMS.

Though technically, as I’ve said in the ARG story discussion thread, Atlas would have simulated our planet (earth) in their original simulations as directed to by their creators, which would include our entire history, which would include, this ARG we are all experiencing and also include the game we all play. So this is where head canon can do some magic. You could even say, that version of our earth, in the Atlas’s universe, the ARG story could have been real rather than an ARG. Those old sims in theory could be within the deleted banks of the Atlas, within the world of glass.

But that still doesn’t make Korvax Prime, Emily. Nor the Atlas.

In your opinion. And that’s fine, we’ll see in time! I’m open to being wrong, just not convinced that the two narratives and the entities therein are guaranteed to be siloed in the way you have proposed in your head canon.

That version of earth might have some slight differences to ours, like giant wooden people sitting in parks or cassettes leaning up against buildings.

I bet it has sunny weather instead of this weeks thunderstorms too. A nice safe, dry, cassette tape for Morse and a dry bed for Spiderbob <3

Imagine if Emily rises from the dead…

There is a theory that she is actually in the Myriad system from the ARG or remnant of her..

Not dead, more like in a robo-coma.

Interesting. I always thought she actually died

she gave up resources…I would have to dig more on that.

The Architect was just here a couple minutes ago…

The Architect saying they’ve dedicated a chunk of their life to this, in the newest email, leads me to believe they’ve been trying to find/revive emily since 2018.

Several people did die, including Elizabeth Leighton and some of the Dreamers from S2.

In the final memo from WT, Maj. Dubois lists Emily’s status as “critical”.

@the_architect I’m not your buddy, guy. :face_with_steam_from_nose:

Yeah i remember that too

The week before this ARG started, I built a memorial in-game to those dreamers. I wont say any more because it was part of ETARCs event system plans for the #NMS10 community celebrations, and those builds are all very hush hush rn. I figured since we were the WT community, a WT themed build would make sense…

When the ARG popped up and it had those loose nods (now they are very STRONG nods) to WT like the hexagon glitching button… I totally freaked out :joy:
