No Man's Sky—Profit, VR, MMOG & Future

We start with http://www.ware-tech.cloud.

The words “VR” and “Post-VR” and “virtual” and “virtual reality” are found all over the website, especially on the About and Product pages. Other words found are “HTC” and “Oculus”; also “mirror”. As well as “Massively-Multiplayer Online Game”.

Here’s a few examples…

In the 1st example, we see the V/RE headset described as a “Post-VR” headset.

In the 2nd, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, popular VR headsets, are comparable to V/RE.

In the 3rd, we read the words…
“Play in the most realistic virtual worlds possible!” ← No Man’s Sky VR
“Massively-Multiplayer Online Game” ← Next v1.5
“The W/ARE system is a mirror into the soul of humanity.” ← Infinity mirrors & Sean’s tweet

Although there’s a growing interest in AR, Augmented Reality…

(1) VR itself is barely getting off the ground, yet it’s presently the most widely utilized and popular, over AR.

Means VR provides more of a market for Hello Games to tap.

(2) VR provides environmental immersion (fauna, flora, biomes, etc), unlike AR which only brings elements (items) directly into a users real environment.

Means VR provides more environmental immersion for the user.

(3) Whether utilizing AR or VR when playing No Man’s Sky, a user’s HUD is still necessary, and thus projected across one’s view.

What’s better? A 2D monitor display of environmental game-play (what we have presently) with a 3D ‘AR HUD’ projected across one’s desk or wall? Or a 3D ‘VR HUD’ projected within a 3D environmental immersion?

Lighter AR glasses beat heavier VR goggles, that’s for sure.

But I don’t think AR provides quite the immersion that VR provides, for such an environmentally immersive simulation quite like No Man’s Sky.

However…

A mixture of the 2?

Result: (1) Spectacular (ex. VR-like projected screen & separate HUD within AR; prob best w/ a blank wall), or otherwise (2) cumbersome, and not quite practical.

But a “VR-like projected screen” is still not the same as being completely surrounded, by an entire environmental immersion.

Unless AR can provide a richly detailed version of that,

Conclusion: Different devices for different purposes.

Even still…

The V/RE headset does closely resemble a lighter Microsoft HoloLens (for AR); or HTC Vive or Oculus Rift (for VR). And our new avatar character models were introduced to us as holograms. And the new in-game Traveller aliens (the 4th race) presently also display as holograms. Even the newly introduced Holo-Terminus (Holographic Comms Tower), for long distance communication, displays fellow Travellers as holograms… Likely to soon be utilized in multiplayer, beyond quest-lines; We’ll see.

Of course, quoting lore, I think this is simply intended to suggest, that each of us together form, “anomalous interdimentional multiversal cohabitation”.

:business_suit_levitating: As if we are there, but yet we are not, although still we are.

Yes it seems beyond that, all other hints motion towards VR.

“V/RE” closely resembles “VR”. Even included on the NEXT v1.5 announcement trailer. The V/RE website even descriptively compares it’s futuristic headset against, not a HoloLens (for AR), but the popular HTC Vive and Oculus Rift (for VR). And we were presented with the word “MORPHEUS” which was the original code-name for PSVR.

And so far it seems that VR offers the right immersion for this specific game. The right market and barely the right timing; if they can even deliver such so soon. (A future update? I can understand.) Although they long ago experimented with VR and spoke favorably toward it, as we also know.

Why “infinity mirrors”? And what did Sean’s tweet mean? What was he hinting at?
“If you fall asleep with a mirror on your face, you wake up in your dreams.”

Re-quoting the V/RE website, “The W/ARE system is a mirror into the soul of humanity.”

And now, upon WT Season 2, we are presented with this story…

V/RE Tech created a sci-fi futuristic “Post-VR” headset, gone seriously wrong.

So I put it all together and this is what I find…

What would ‘realistically’ enhance our view of reality in No Man’s Sky?

Virtual Reality (VR)!

The word “PHOENIX” on our ‘Level 4 Atlas Passes’ likely means “Rebirth of NMS”.

After all, as Sean said, they get a fresh start with Xbox.

And while MMOG (multiplayer) alone will now provide that, I do wonder…

Question 1: Why was Waking Titan Season 1 so “STORY/LORE” focused?

And then Atlas Rises v1.3 dropped with increased story/lore; 30 hours of it!

Question 2: Why is Waking Titan Season 2 so “VR HEADSET” focused?

And then NEXT v1.5 dropped with . . .

They’ve set a delicious table here. Got fork and knife in both hands.

Mouthwatering… I’m trying to hold back “HYPE”, but failing at best.

Presently, Google “No Man’s Sky” and here’s what comes up…

And Googling “E3 2018”…

NMS VR at E3 2018 - The CSD Investigation!

As of June 2, 2018…

Why did Waking Titan pause till the 8th? …it got quiet.

That’s 1 day before E3 2018 Press Conference on the 9th.

Should we look deeper? Is there an Easter egg? -Hinting?

Those last words, before the silence, revealed to us a set of dates and times.

If we can decipher this, might we learn something?

Perhaps No Man’s Sky appearing at E3; Dates/times?

NMS VR at E3 2018 - Emily's Prediction!

Let’s take it from the top, hmm,

01.06-06.06

What might these dates imply?

01.06-06.06 reversed 06.06-06.10

June 6 to 10…

Sony begins revealing PS/PSVR titles 2 days early

…and Emily predicted it.

Do the series of times that follow predict E3 events?
I simply do not know, but I really wouldn’t doubt it.

And then she isolates No Man’s Sky…

06.10
03:32 UTC

E3 2018 runs from June 12-14 in Los Angeles.
(WT: Could description of “Sacremento” hint toward E3?)
(WT: Ancient Greek “Themis” was a ‘convention organizer’; E3?)
E3 2018 early Press Conference starts 9-11.

Sunday at 8am, “An eagerly anticipated game comes to PSVR.” ← That’s our “06.10”!!!
And the Microsoft event is held June 10th @ 1:00 pm PT! ← That’s also our “06.10”!!!

03:32 pm UTC = 8:32 am PT ← A perfectly matching time!!!

So perhaps…

“Sunday at 8:32 am PT, Sony will announce No Man’s Sky PSVR”

And it seems Emily predicted a time for Microsoft, as well.

Meaning, reverse 10.06 back to 06:10, is still June 10.

23:47 is Microsoft Xbox, after Sony PS4 @ 03:32 UTC (June 10).

23:47 UTC = 4:47 pm PT ← A perfectly matching time!!!

Sunday, June 10, 2018…

:boom: Sony starts at 8 am PT, announcing NMS PSVR at 8:32 am. :boom:
:boom: Microsoft starts at 1 pm, announcing NMS Xbox VR at 4:47 pm. :boom:

I don’t know guys. Let’s see what happens. Gonna be interesting.

Sony Livestream - E3 2018

Microsoft Livestream - E3 2018

Above times could be wrong, so do watch early to be safe.
And remember, there’s always the 12-14th main events.
Also, E3 NMS VR might not appear 2018. Tried my best! :vulcan_salute:t4:

Why do Emily’s dates/times match so perfectly? Uncanny!

Oh wait. Edited the opening to my last post even more refined. Enjoy!

I’d love to see a PSVR version of NMS. I feel like it would take the PS4 Pro or the PS5 to really pull it off, unless you downgrade the graphics to PS3/Xbox 360 levels (and I’d take that happily to play on my standard PS4).

Of course, I’d love it if even the grass would load in from further distance, lol.

Or higher complexity level for base building; Nonetheless, here’s for wishing…

In every SciFi game, I always wish for “changes in gravity”. Ranging from really-light to really-heavy and even reversed (inside caves/spaces). But never anything that allows for “stupid realities” such as “falling into space” and/or “being instantly killed by pancaking-flesh-in-extreme-gravity”. So far, only games which are in outer space give Null Gravity…even then, the concepts of “micro-gravity” are non-existent.

It is like the devs around the world think…“Yes, the game engine allows for varying gravities…but since no one has tried it, IT IS TABOO!!!” -*(

@Emily to @Crimsontine

I reminisce…

It’s been a whole year. I recall your last words to me were, “Atlas Seeds”.
After your disappearance, all went into morning and searching for you !
I then posted :candle::wilted_flower::hole::chopsticks::mag: & at the NY live event you replied :ramen:.
Christina bashfully said she knew you & that “Emily’s doing Emily things”.
All interpreted to mean you were OK in real life, and wanted all to know.
Which was carefully followed up by everyone’s fav hamster, Mr. Noodles.

July 4, '17 was your last post & now your back as of June 15. - Welcome!
Disappeared 1 month before 1.3 & now reappeared 1 month before 1.5.

I recall feeling so inspired by :chopsticks: and :ramen:, and the whole event that unfolded,
I wrote a beautiful poem for you two. It was called, “Christina & the Felines”.

OK, so… While all are busy with the inside flow,
I find outside overreaching themes can get lost,
& I now feel renewed zest to drive home the VR.

Fasten seat belts, cause it’s gonna be a wild ride!

I’ll start by getting past this old E3 2018 subject…

NMS E3 2018... Never Happened!

E3 2018 finished last Thursday & this is Sunday… Results are final!
To be clear, NMS did not show at E3 and VR remains unconfirmed.

Although the ARG appeared to strongly point toward June 10th,
Even dropping times during both the Sony and Microsoft events,
(What was one to think?) Yet, No Man’s Sky never showed at E3.

Insted on Sunday, June 10th during the pre-show, we saw ‘Beat Saber’ come to PSVR
around Emily’s hinted-at time and Xbox finished shortly before it’s proposed time.

So perhaps we’ll never know what… 6.10 …& those dates/times meant?
And who really knows why Waking Titan Season 2 so strongly hints VR?

  • [Edit: Subjects 6.10 and VR evolve in posts below!]

As we know, our WT ARG is highly cryptic & encourages speculation.
So if we’re given dates/times we simply must report our findings CSD.

❝Speculate not with fear to be wrong, because together we it make right.❞

As the genuine fans, that crave HG and NMS success, we can very easily excite.

But what if they did appear :interrobang:

Given NMS’s spectacular E3 2016 launch, which was ultimately met with such extreme criticism, I can fully understand Hello Games and No Man’s Sky speaking through cryptic means. But we’re listening, and so are others. Those that matter.

I think companies like Sony and Microsoft see HG’s potential with NMS, and want very much to see their dream fully realized. Even the haters, before they became such, wanted the same. Xbox head Phil Spenser excitedly welcomed No Man’s Sky.

Those in the upper places know where this game is going.

Yes, I think NMS will continue protected from publicly heated events. And for the better; Certainly. Years later they’ll reassess, once NMS fully matures, reaching far beyond the simple confines of Fortnite!

And I’ll be there. And so will you.
Much love, my friends. :hugs: Smile.

Xbox One VR... "Not Coming 2018!"

And perhaps not even in the 2020’s.

Here’s a recent article on the subject…

The way this matter appears to me is…

Microsoft owns Windows for PC and Xbox consoles.
So if PC VR drives Windows sales, they’ll still be OK.
Xbox is one product. It’s like Amazon owning Twitch.

So… Who has better VR? - Microsoft or Sony?
No, there’s no Xbox VR, but…
#3 - Xbox One X is VR ready, and…
#2 - More powerful than PS4 Pro, and…
#1 - Windows PC VR is better than PSVR!

And there you go. - Microsoft isn’t worried !

Sony provides affordable VR solutions - Leading “console VR” concepts.
Microsoft preps quietly - Knowing they’re very ready likewise, anytime.
(Could Nintendo be taking notes? I think everyone’s taking notes! imho)

NMS VR... Still Unconfirmed!

So here’s where we are right now…

Why does Waking Titan Season 2 so very strongly hint VR?
Will NMS ever get VR? Also… What will future updates be?

Beyond game sales, how will Hello Games profit long-term?
Utilize something like Hello Labs, investing in other games?

Multiplayer/MMOG is confirmed for the NEXT v1.5 update.
Will we see VR in v1.5? Will it come later? Will it ever come?

Was V/RE just a random thought in the Puppetmaster’s head?

My guess is that the dreamers in the ARG are really experiencing VR but it is not suitable yet for the general public to use.
So we have to rescue them from being stuck into this simulation to experience the virtual world as it is at this moment.
VR still is in its infant development is my humble opinion. There are still too much side effects happening that have to be solved (i.e. dizzyness, not the right environment in the house for good use, and some more).
All in all, guess that VR is not completely ready yet for the masses.

I would say Ms not having a VR peripheral is no indication the Ps4 version wouldn’t, as there are plenty of multiplatform games to are on xbox but have VR capabilities on ps4. Resident evil seven is a good example.

However I do not think its possible for the ps4 to render no mans sky twice, they had to seriously downgrade skyrim, a seven year old game, just to get it to run smoothly and they even had to turn off any ragdoll physics on enemies.

Since no mans sky doesn’t have any 3d models or graphical assets to pull from and it just renders everything on the fly using maths and super shapes, I think a lot of the processing power is very much used up. I could imagine maybe vanilla NMS just about supporting VR but in its current and future state I just don’t think the PS4 has it in it to pull it off.

However I am very much hopeful for the next generation of consoles as no doubt NMS will get a VR release by then as I see this game crossing over generations much like Minecraft has. (I own it on pc, xbox 360, ps3 and ps4 :see_no_evil:)

@heartphone

While it’s still in its early days, a lot of the dizziness stuff has been figured out and having used VR quite a bit and talked in length to other VR owners or friends who have tried mine a good bit, is that the dizziness stops, it’s kinda like getting sea legs, your body eventually gets used to the new experience and your brain and hands learn to cooperate in a different way and you get used to navigating with analogue sticks inVR very naturally.

I had one friend I was worried about trying it, he has severe motion sickness when travelling.

His first experience he threw up, he insisted on playing Eve, was his own undoing. So then we tried him with surgeon sim and job sim where he could stand still.

After a few rounds of this he tried skyrim and resin seven, then went back to eve and he did not feel any nausea.

It is kinda like learning to walk again, and you kinda learn some disciplines and rules that make for a much easier experience.

Thanks
Good to know from someone like you who really had experience with it that it works out for most people then.
I will probably try it out myself someday, if not at home than certainly with my grandkids, as my eldest one got a game room for his birthday recently…
