No Man’s Sky—Game Details & Investigations: Portals/Seeds, Atlas/Loop16/Emily, Atlas Foundation/Tech, OldGods & More

If you read down to the eighth post on that Reddit thread, you will see where he admits that he realized that galaxy 257 was just a copy of galaxy 256 because the things he had named were the same in both. Galaxy 256 IS the last unique galaxy, after that they are copies of the last one.

I wasnt saying loop 16 wasn’t a valic subject, just that the 16th galaxy or “loop” didn’t seem to hold much weight in terms of investigation as a possibility.

The meaning of loop16 is of course still very important.

Correction…

There is presently no 257+ Galaxy!

https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/65spiy/greetings_from_the_257th_galaxy/

Therefore…

:boom: Are we stuck in a 256th galaxy repeat? …What do YOU think?
“…Loop16 …Unexpected Error?”

Are we lacking a singularity?
Or facing one in other ways?

Because we now know there’s apparently only 256 galaxies… MAX!!!

Thanks @MacForADay

Singularity

PHYSICS / MATHEMATICS

  1. “A point at which a function takes an infinite value, especially in space-time when matter is infinitely dense, as at the center of a black hole.”

  2. “A hypothetical moment in time when artificial intelligence and other technologies have become so advanced that humanity undergoes a dramatic and irreversible change.”

Singularity

http://csd.atlas-65.com/

Regarding the Citizen Science Division’s “Atlas Pass Distribution Email”, which were sent out to those who signed up for the Waking Titan mailing list, welcoming them…

The email contained a specialized Survey Link, unique for each participant, containing different kinds of questions, yet all related to the concepts of simulations and approaching a singularity.

Could we still be leading to Galaxy 257+?

Could we be facing a mega-computer that’s reached singularity?

My theory is that loop16 is Waking Titan’s codename for No Man’s Sky. This is because there were 16 people on the Hello Games’ programming team when the game was finished. You can see this by counting the people in this iconic “No Man’s Sky just went gold!” tweet:

This theory is supported by the fact that A. The secret message inside No Man’s Sky was called “loop16 unexpected error” and B. The loop16 on csd.atlas-65.com is a picture of a night sky (possibly a screenshot from inside the game), and includes a link to concept art which appears to be a new spaceship for the game.

Just to clear up a few things. The image of the sky that says loop16 is called map.jpg:

This image is a cut part of Header.jpg on Superlumina and has been glitched, likely using ImageGlitcher:

This image is actually part of the following stock image:

Wonderful find @DevilinPixy!

The stars line up perfectly to the left of the image.
So this is not a scene from NMS!

…although no doubt alluding to NMS.

But…

Why is it called “map.jpg”?
…Why “map”?

Superlumina? …Time Travel? …Space Map?

It’s also intriguing to note that Elizabeth Leighton recently referenced Superlumina in her Twitch broadcast! …Time travel? …Emily further referenced ‘time travel’ in her recent 4th vlog (of glitching video)!

Any connections?

Does “LOOP16” have anything to do with a ‘space map’?

The NMS Space Station globe hologram? …Past/present/future?

Or perhaps even… Portals anyone? . . .

Let’s take a visit to Gamepedia!

Portal - No Man's Sky Wiki

This is what I find…

Who penned this ‘plausible’ theory?

Gotta figure out them there monoliths/ruins, I guess, lol.
I don’t know what to say. Time will tell, perhaps.

Excellent theory @MacForADay!

If “LOOP16” proves WT codename for NMS…

Echoing what you said…

Could it be that “16” was the number chosen, simply in honor of the potentially “16 people on the Hello Games’ programming team when the game was finished”?

And therefore… 16 programmers = 16 cassette tapes.

And perhaps “loop16” placed inside the NMS ‘comm station’ as a WT clue, was simply to hint us toward the NMS cassette ARG, connections with the WT ARG… Do to the use of “16”?

Building theory upon this…

We know that this code “97C-303N-5884-P” proved a password for WakingTitan.com .
Waking Titan - Game Detectives Wiki

Could this code mean something more?

And if “LOOP16” proves WT codename for NMS…

Could “LOOP” perhaps reference an already ‘singular’ (infinite) nature of NMS?

Afterall, 18 quintillion planets (apparently 1.8×1019 or 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 to be exact, lol) is pretty close to “singularity” in my book! …Know what I mean???

A fake quote from Sean Murray…

Forgive me Sean; These words are said with love. Couldn’t resist.

No Man’s Sky has rightly received much praise for the technical achievements of its procedurally-generated universe! …But is it even possible to achieve “infinity” to the extent of “Infinity Beyond”? …I mean… Come now! …Mercy!

Never know.

Building further theory…

And perhaps “UNEXPECTED ERROR” just references NMS’s mixed reviews upon launch, and it’s lacking several marketed features. Portals being one of them.

IN REVIEW…

So if all the above holds true…

It seems that “LOOP16” as potential WT codename for MNS…
Together with “UNEXPECTED ERROR” as potential WT codename for mixed reviews and lacking features…

Would translate to…
"Hello Games expressed commitment to fixing technical issues with the release, as well as plans to expand features of the game in time. "—Wikipedia

Further translating to…
“No Man’s Sky version 1.3 - The Update!”

NMS 1.3… BETA?

Speculation…

Might some of us be randomly chosen as testers? …Leading up to the August release?

Friday, July 21, 2017… We begin Waking Titan Phase 2 of 3.
This is according to Elizabeth Leighton’s recent Twitch broadcast!

What else could prove significant about this date? …and forward?

Let us dream, lol.

Edit:
NO… NMS 1.3 …BETA!!!
Hello Game confirmed this with Reddit Mods (See below).

And regarding “16”…

Let’s test @MacForADay’s theory just a smidge further.

Can anyone surface a direct statement from Hello Games that there were definitely a team of 16 upon NMS’s release?

Reference the iconic Twitter pic…

If not, don’t sweat it. I think this counts as a pretty direct statement, lol.

LOOP16 OVERVIEW…

So perhaps we can narrow down at least some questions, thus far…

Could “LOOP” reference an already ‘singular’ (infinite) nature of NMS?
18 quintillion planets? …18,446,744,073,709,551,616?

OR

Could “LOOP” reference a ‘non-singular’ nature of NMS?
Like the apparent galaxy 256 repeat? …“Stuck in the loop”?

Progressing from galaxy 1 to 256 with no way of ‘backtracking’? …Then stuck at 256?

…or something else?

As discussed above…

The term “UNEXPECTED ERROR” seems to work with either of these 2 theories.

THE BASICS…

Perhaps reference our entire discussion above.

This is likely due to the template used for the site. In the template it would by default show a Google map, which could have been replaced by a simple map image in the blank template. Then replacing this image with the starry sky we now see.
See the live demo template here: http://demos.working-idea.com/galactic/galactic-default/

I think it is a whole lot easier to write 18 quintillion as 2^64, which completely makes sense on a computational level.

As for loop16, I have thought about seeing it as base 16. Loop10 could be base 10, which loops from 0-9 when calculating, while loop16 would loop from 0-F, base 16. Makes sense to me on a computational level and in this ARG due to working with Hex quite regular and is also seen in NMS when checking Galactic coordinates. Just an idea though, nothing solid …

I was working exactly on these two images yesterday. It could be a hint to let us decode the glitching images. The map.jpg is taken from the top-left-hand corner of the Header.jpg, but some bands (especially the green-ish ones and dark blue") are shifted from somewhere else.
I have tried to apply some filters, but I don’t have the required expertise in image processing to spot something useful. In most glitching images we often see the same “jpeg-squares” artefact, but how could that be used to mode forward?

To clarify a bit further, would it be useful to find the exact values of the parameters used to glitch the image?

No, it’s just a glitched image, there is not a single indication of Steganography being used, which means the image holds no clues whatsoever, other than possibly showing there is something to be found on the page, as in the D-00A image. Personally I’d say don’t bother, unless you want to learn about glitching and the JPEG format.

Hello Games just confirmed to Reddit mods that the Atlas Level 4 Passes are NOT for a beta of the update.

I just got on the game and looked at the credits you can access from the Options menu (these have not changed since the original release of the game, even after updates).

Art
Aaron Andrews
Beau Lamb
Grant Duncan
Jacob Golding
Levi Naess

Programming
Charlie Tangora
Chris Cummings
Daniel Armesto
David Ream
Harry Denholm
Iain Brown
Innes McKendrick
Martin Griffiths
Ryan Doyle
Sam Lucas
Simon Carter
Sean Murray

There are other people on the credits, but these seem to be the ones that created the actual content for the game.

So as you can count, there is actually 17 people here, one number off.

It is also important to note that Harry Denholm has left Hello Games since then (he tweeted about it). I guess this could account for the number of original game creators being 16 still at the company now, but it just doesn’t seem to me that they would cut Harry out of the numbers, especially since they claimed he left on friendly terms.
