I loved the comment Sean made about this:
“We don’t know what this is, or what it’s for - but if you think we’ve got it, then vote for us!”
Apparently, XR means “extended reality”…
Extended reality ( XR ) is a term referring to all real-and-virtual combined environments and human-machine interactions generated by computer technology and wearables. It includes representative forms such as augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and virtual reality (VR) [1] and the areas interpolated among them. The levels of virtuality range from partially sensory inputs to immersive virtuality, also called VR.
XR is a superset which includes the entire spectrum from “the complete real” to “the complete virtual” in the concept of reality–virtuality continuum introduced by Paul Milgram. Still, its connotation lies in the extension of human experiences especially relating to the senses of existence (represented by VR) and the acquisition of cognition (represented by AR). With the continuous development in human–computer interactions, this connotation is still evolving
From wikipedia
Well, South By has been canceled …
Hopefully they’ll still manage to make something of it online or so.
Hmmm, tough competition. I’d have to give that one to BeatSabre. There’s just no substitute for making you feel like a dancing drummer-jedi… ![]()
Don’t know why that says Nov 22. It is voting for ‘25
LNF is also up for most anticipated game
How were the nominees decided? Seeing a lot of omissions here from categorys they deserve like soundtracks or audio design.
Or the studio nominations category… That needs to be a bigger list because there are standout studios with fantastic releases this year not even mentioned.
Either way, having fun picking and skipping as always.
The best gaming hardware section, I just got to it… This one is the funniest. You have
-
A handheld console from one of the biggest game hardware and software developers in the world, known by toddlers to teetotalers. (Switch 2)
-
A Laptop
-
An AMD CPU
-
A nintendo switch controller shaped like an xbox controller (i guess thats what they look like now?)
-
An NVMe solid state drive
-
A webcam.
Ummmm… Was this category one of those dinner of fools type scenarios?
Nominated for Best Ongoing Game
bit.ly/tgavote
I only voted in categories where I had played the game or knew of the performer.
E.g, best performance, 3 of the 5 were for Clair Obscur which I’ve not yet played. The other 2 (silent hill f/ghost of yotei) I had also not played. No Norman Reedus? None at all for DS2? I feel its performances and the fidelity of the capture are one of its strongest points.
Three Noms in one category for one game also seemed a bit much.
Logan Cunningham being omitted for 3 people from the same game seemed a bit cruel. That guy gets overlooked every time, I was certain he’d get some love this year.
Having not played Clair Obscur I couldn’t vote for it, however in best RPG I gave it that award because I do plan to play it, watched a friend play a chunk, and the hype of a good JRPG is very true. Even though I have played Outer Worlds 2 I had to give it to Clair Obscur (cos I want the industry to remember JRPGs can be profitable/critically acclaimed
)
Seriously though, Justice for Logan Cunningham!!! In Hades 2 alone he was Poseidon, Charon, @Polyphemus , Chronos, Typhon, Homer & Hades!
If he shows up in a category for the Public Nominees I’m doing all I can to get him into those noms.
I picked Wolverine for most anticipated because while I’m not an MCU fan, it’s probably safe to say everyone is a Wolverine admirer; I will do anything to make sure GTA 6 don’t get it cos f*ck rockstars union busting; Light No Fire was not an option </3 ; Insomniac are a fantastic studio.
While I argue Clair obscur could drop a few of it’s noms from the performance category (they fill 3 of the 5 slots), this Devs comments come across VERY salty.
For example, they also had this to say…
“Who even played Donkey Kong Bananza”.
Not me. But the amount of people I’ve heard say “oh banana” in the wild while wandering outside and touching grass, is undeniable. I actually thought it was some Tiktok trend until I was informed it’s from DKB.
Also using the opportunity to blame people’s “misconceptions” about AI generated art in games as the reason for their own games omission.
Another MOBA shooter? Aren’t you great… Sorry, fighting salt with salt here ![]()
Edit:
Oh he’s not even a dev, just an FPS pro streamer. So an extremely biased opinion from a guy whose sad the game he’s streaming didn’t get nom for game of the year.
It is actually nominated for best multiplayer (arc raiders)
I suddenly remembered a majority of gamers are entitled so I should not be surprised by these takes.
Golden Joystick Awards went Minecraft and GTA 6 ![]()
The Steam Awards
NOMINATE YOUR CHOICES - NOW UNTIL DEC 1ST @ 10AM PACIFIC.
VOTE FROM THE FINALISTS DURING THE WINTER SALE.
WINNERS ANNOUNCED JAN 3RD @ 10AM PACIFIC.
Those blurbs next to the nominees feels a lot like Noise Diffusion if ya catch my drift ![]()
TBF it’s a job nobody should enjoy so let the intern/copier off the hook to do some other work AI say. I mean, I say. That was a legitimate typo and I’m leaving it in ![]()
Gonna log into steam now and dole out my votes ![]()
edit: I see now that the blurbs are about the category and not the game you’ve chosen, hence the extreme vagueness. So maybe they aren’t AI.
First round of voting for user nominations ends today and No Mans Sky is in the list. It will no doubt be gang vetoed as you get people complaining if it isn’t a game from the year but I gave it an oul vote.
You can have up to ten choices for this round, I picked the games I enjoyed and the ones I heard were good and still had plenty left over.
I believe it’s a knockout round so games with the least won’t make the next round, which has less voting choices if I recall.
