After years of looking up NMS release-era merch, I finally managed to snag a Limited Edition copy of the game and a CD release of the original soundtrack (no thanks to the import restrictions back home)!

What got me curious though, was that the CD mentioned the person behind Supermoon and Heliosphere’s acapella vocals, which I haven’t seen mentioned before:

(I apologize for the non-insightful rant so far btw😅) I managed to find an Instagram account linking work on 65DOS’ Debutante with a similar name, so this might be the Debbie mentioned in the soundtrack? If so, it’s really cool to finally see who’s behind one of the most memorable tracks in the game so far, which all travellers who’ve reached the center have heard!

I’m sure someone else has already made this connection and tracked down the vocalist before, but I thought I’d share in the slight off chance it hasn’t been discussed, or has been lost to time!

It’s always amazing to me how vocalise can carry way more feeling and depth than singing words. Because there are no lyrics to repeat, (no hook) these singers are often unknowns. They deserve a lot more credit than they get because they take the music to another level.

Oh cool, I actually thought they used the same vocal sampler/vst for supermoon as they did with debutante since it sounded so similar, cool to know they have a go to vocalist they can record and sample instead of relying on pre-packaged libraries.

Didn’t expect to get insight from the big man himself haha

Although the in-game model isn’t nearly as awfully optimized

Still pretty cool to get a look at HG’s modelling tools though. Iirc HG uses Maya internally?

The image does look like Maya with a mesh preview, seeing the background and dark blue edges

So I can’t share the video from X any more?

Edit: if you hold on the video you can open a drop down that allows you to open the video in Chrome, maybe also in another browser? Can someone else try this?

Clicking on the video in your post doesn’t work. Hasn’t worked for a couple of years.

I’m using Firefox on PC. If I right-click on the video, I get this menu:

The only real option I have from there is “Open video in new tab”. If I do that, I get this:

However, If I click on the link here:

That will take me to X, and allow me to watch the video. It seems you can’t watch their videos directly - you have to go through their gateway.

Weird. On my phone, if I long press on the video, I get this

I can then watch the video in Chrome

Ah well, I suppose I’ve got no-one to blame but myself. I avoid using Microsoft or Google products wherever possible. I regard both as unethical and untrustworthy. I use Firefox as my browser, and DuckDuckGo as my search engine.

It has to be said, I have no proof that either of those organisations are any more ethical or trustworthy than MS or Google - but it makes me feel better.

I was wondering if there was another browser option showing for anyone else. I also use Firefox on my PC but I find Chrome works better on mobile for a number of things I do. I have Firefox installed but it did not come up as an option…

There is no clicking or holding, only a limited right-click browser menu (Chrome), which allows me to copy the video address and then paste in Chrome, which will play it properly. However, I prefer it this way:

Holding on mobile. Right click on PC. So that’s cool. Just wish it opened in more browsers.

Good news is we dont have to login or sign up for twitter to see the video if we take the link there.

Reddit started this ganked API trend where cross posting to other sites is all but dead now. Hardly anythjng embeds now. All in the name of more profit.
