Music Tastes among ETARCers?

Because each time I see the “wishing well” topic

Ive always enjoyed the idea of being a famous musician and doing a book reading at a music store. And just read out the guitar tablature verbatim. Very. Slowly.

Last person to leave gets the keys to my world famous chocolate factory. Im also Wonka in this fantasy. The gene wilder one.

I still remember the first time I heard Darren Korbs music and getting excited that there are still good videogame composers out there despite the introduction of voice acting and detailed cutscenes doing all the heavy lifting on world building and tone and causing VG music to take a backseat for a long long time.

I still feel invigorated and refreshed from that experience and relive it any time I listen to supergiant games soundtracks.

Thats what I love about supergiant the most. Every aspect of game design is given equal weight and imprtance to the overall experience. The art, the music, the writing, it all congeals with the gameplay and seems to breath along with the games engine and core principles.

I agree about good games soundtrack, that’s why I always have thrills when i hear

And if you add radio crackles after that I’ll have to change my pants

I mean, it’s an obvious one to follow with, but for anyone who hasn’t seen this one with the text commentary, it’s worth a watch..

Amazing, love journey. Wish thatgamecompany would bring us another gem like that.

Martin Griffiths of Hello Games was actually part of basically a two man team involved with porting it to the ps4 just before he joined HG.

Austin Wintory who did the Journey OST is actually conducting the orchestra for the Hades 2 concert above  he co wrote the music with Darren Korb for the final area in the game, to bring the adequate amount of orchestral splendor that such an environment should evoke.

I won’t say what the final area is in case someone decides to play through it in the future

Yeah, I’d seen Hades/Hades II on AW’s YT page, but haven’t played it.

MG posted about it, and I had to thank him directly as, after playing it briefly on a wall sized screen at the NVM, I bought it (with Flow & Flower) for the PS4, and that’s how I played it properly. Obviously I have it on Steam now, too. I really like the OST.

This is and always has been one of those games I felt I really should get and play but never got around to. The music is just as awesome as I imagined it would be, fitting whatever little I know about the game. For that matter, thanks @toddumptious , hopefully some day I’ll learn all about it! Seems such a gem of a game, which continues to remind me a lot of ‘ICO’ for some reason.

Interestingly, I’ve not played ICO, but I got the OST at the same time as Journey’s.

I’ve been brought to the verge of tears three times by a game, and Journey is one of those. Do play it, while you still have the chance of playing with an random, anonymous stranger.

I am still looking for a specific version of ICO for PS2 I used to own back in the days. Limited edition cardboard sleeve, which came with postcards if I recall correctly. It’s probably going to cost me, so I might be satisfied finding a regular box. I did order the Team ICO trilogy OST, even though I have actually never played Shadow of the Colossus nor The Last Guardian, which I am sure will tempt me too if I come across those.

Edit: Never mind, scrap that, found a decent offer on Ebay actually, from Ireland of all places, right @toddumptious ?! This makes me so happy, I truly missed that game!

Will be seeing CBL tonight. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

For this performance there will be a bespoke laser show.

I remember that cardboard sleeve version very well. It was the one our rental store had on display and it jumped right out at me.

Didnt know anything about it going in and have been a Ueda die hard ever since. Waiting for The Last Guardian is where I learned to be patient :stuck_out_tongue:

Very much excited for their next game.

Thats so cool you found a copy in Ireland, I wonder if its from the archives of that rental store after they, as they all did, went into liquidation when digital took over.

I guess thats why Im not shocked or bothered by sony discontinuing discs. Ive lived through this before with PC and the rental sector :stuck_out_tongue:

All this has made me realise, I need flow/flower/journey and ico/sotc/tlg OST’s for my colevtion.

Oh wow, I bet they’ll put up a wonderful show. Enjoy!
Let us know how you liked it.

Most likely not considering the condition it appears to be in. Rental only lasts so long and is never without obvious signs of use.

I am not surprised at all, but between the ability to own, and being forced to rent, I am strongly against the latter.

Waiting for delayed train home. It was superb. They were really good.

Never expected a mosh pit. A mild one, but one nonetheless.

Anyway, if we ever meet, I owe you one.

I’d say it’s in the top 4 of the last ten years or so - 65DoS at Gorilla will probably always be top. 65 DoS Wild Light anniversary also up there, along with tonight and Mono at Gorilla. Sort those three out into the rest of the podium.
