Blast from the past, Frazzlesprite just reminded me of WinAmp, grabbed the Legacy version, extracted it with 7zip, and its still as good as it ever was ..

Soo happy Frazzlesprite found a youtube about winamp on the Main Fam discord, WinAmp is an excellent music player.
It really whipped the llamas ass. Visiting a friend and seeing what winamp skins they had was something of a rite of passage.
I had to give up waiting for the Winamp 4 skin, they just wouldn’t release it. Something about the name.

I have been using Winamp for quite some time. I have my media drive specifically setup for using it, playing over BT on my main audio system too.
I am always playing catch-up with ‘archiving’ all the music I own though, been slacking quite a bit lately. I have yet to digitise all my vinyl and cassettes, which I dread getting started on, especially the latter.
It is however really nice to just start up my full DB as a single mixed playlist, currently closing in on 300GB, with just over a month of continuous playtime 
For nostalgic reasons, I prefer the default classic look.
Theres a newer version than the OG Legacy?, I need to look into this, I grabbed the Legacy from winamp.com

Edit: The ones for Win 11 at your link seem to be older version than the WinAmp Legacy I already have from winamp.com. My WinAmp.exe is v5.9.2.10042

I had to look back for any links as it has been a while I last checked for it. I do know you’ll have to be very careful with downloads, not just for Winamp itself, but also skins etc. This goes for the link I posted too by the way. The forum on the website you linked used to be quite ok, but does appear to have been abandoned mostly, with spam creeping in regularly. I personally dislike the frontend with their artist promotion stuff and paid plan.
The latest version is still v5.9.2.10042, which released in April 2023 IIRC. There are community sourced versions and spinoffs too, like WACUP. Best bet is probably v5.666 for full compatibility all the way down to Win98.
Have to say it again though, be careful, especially if anything starts complaining.

Yep I remember years ago they used to get entangled with companies that wanted to include their own bits n bobs in the installers (PUPs), aswell as the various reuploads which included worse malware. The current legacy one from WinAmp.com is also treated suspiciously by Windows, you have to extract the installer with 7zip instead of running it. All the files contained though are clean (tested with VirusTotal and Windows Defender has no beef with the extracted files).
I assume you are referring to Win11 to be treated suspiciously? Not sure, been seeing quite a few posts mentioning this. I never had any issues, but it has been a while and I am on Win10 (until I switch to Linux rather sooner than later). Good practice to verify 
Yep, Win 11 is being over protective a lot. A recent update enforced some memory protections, and smart filtering of files is just ridiculous sometimes unless the .exe has a signed certification. Vector_Cmdrs new releases of NMSE get the VirusTotal treatment (by himself), but Win 11 often tries to deny its use until the download becomes more popular. Thats why I use 7zip to extract an auto-extracting zip like WinAmps first before checking out the files, Win 11 just will not allow you to run WinAmps self extracting installer.

Reminiscing about Winamp, the Geiss visualiser plugin was awesome, we actually projected it at a few underground rave/parties that me and my brother organised in the 90s.
I checked the Geiss visualiser, I like it, but it looks like it can only play fullscreen, unless there is something I missed to get it in a separate window.
