Just completed a second run. Still missed 4 chests.
My feeling about the storyline: it is the journey of life. The highs and lows. The point being, it is a journey we all must make. Don’t make the journey alone.
( I also believe this is the story of NMS. When the end comes, no one wants to be alone. Make friends along the way. Love one another. Share. Enjoy. Love)
Just checking, are these chests you mention the diary entries?
Yes.
The gate was supposed to raise with the snake beside the gate and the far one raise the platform…another bug on PS4
The snake puzzle was my favorite. That OH NO moment
A nod to the NMS trailer snake, perhaps?
Absent hand…the friend that was not there.
The statue puzzle hung me up for a bit as well, even though the place to put him is right in plain view. HG did a good job at getting you used to doing one thing one way and then slipping in something new.
Actually, one mirror is fixed in place and pointed at the objective making this a reflection puzzle that can be solved by logic. There are several positions of the two snakes that work.(which means it can also be solved by trial and error)
Below is my final review of The Last Campfire:
I give this game a 9/10, a near perfect game. It is a delightfully cute puzzle game with serious themes of life, death, and mental health.
My only complaint is that some of the puzzles are a bit too easy; especially the final one, which should have been the most challenging for the climax, but I do understand why they may have chosen to do this, as to not distract from the narrative.
After getting all the trophies and notes, I am happy to conclude my play of The Last Campfire feeling content and satisfied.
I savor the great look and feel to the game. And, embarrassingly, some of us (no names of course) have made bad assumptions about a puzzle and gnashed our teeth unnecessarily.
Example: assuming a statue needed to be on a pedestal to turn the turnstile for the 3-statue puzzle (facepalm).
Switch game patch available. No notes.

Good to know! I had no idea they planned to update it! Is it available on Steam now?
Still no release date on the Steam page.
I auto boycott buying from Epic Games or watching videos about games that are exclusive to them and not on Steam. I am happy that they are getting all the bugs out though and updating it
Sometime this summer the game will be released on Steam according to my wish list. I am hoping that they won’t push it beyond the summer
But then of course the only reason they would push it back is if Epic set it for more than a year from release on their store. I don’t see the game being unfinished or broken enough to need to be held back. So I assume it will be released before August 2021
Go the update on Switch. Starting a new game. Not sure where the additional puzzles are yet. Framerate much improved and most of the stuttering that accompanied the cutscenes is gone.
EDIT There are 4 new puzzles that can be accessed from the main menu when you start the game
