They look amazing @ _ @ From reading the article I learned that if its private land you don’t need to inform an Archaeologist and that its quite common these hoards are sold off in auction before theres a chance to gleam the personal history from them.
I’m hoping the finder of this hoard is patient enough to go that route because treasure is always the better when it comes with a story.
In Ireland, because you never know whats under your feet, before any building can be done on any land that hasnt been previously checked, an archaeologist must come and investigate the site first. This includes road works, commerce, residential extensions. Basically everything. You can also look up every archaeological dig online (including digitized archives from decades past), be it for the new clothes store that was built in that old field across the way, or your neighbour getting a new shed built out the back, which is always fun.
This wasn’t always the way, for a while there were some pricks in power who were happy to turn a blind eye or take a bribe and even though we changed our National Monuments Act to remove treasure trove laws and to protect our cultural heritage and history, there are absolutely some developers and commercial archaeo’s taking money under the table (According to a tutor who quit being a commercial archaeologist because of this unfortunate greedy trend)
No, Not a scooter at all. What I ride has pedals, a 500watt brushless hub motor, 36v 13ah Li battery, 7 gears, and two 26 inch fat tires. 6521 km in roughly 21 months.
Laws here in Canada are something like 36km digital speed limit split into 3 classes. Mine is a class 2 with full throttle control and pedals assist, where class 3 can have no pedals at all and rival gasoline motorcycles. I mostly stick to bike lanes and pathways to enjoy myself, but when I ride roads I can stay fast with traffic when needed… limits can be tampered with lol and the brushless hub motors are cheaper, fast enough and near silent compared to the mid drive geared nonsense too.
Class 1 or anything less than 500w brushless is too weak and narrow in its uses, and having more than 2000w draws so much power you need huge battery capacity and all that extra cooling nonsense imo. Class 3 is basically illegal everywhere fun like bike paths and trails, and the mid drives are too expensive for what they are anyways. The sales guys will bump em for their pie tho.
E-Bikes are so much more fun than a bicycle without a motor. And I would argue they are more safe than regular bikes with current infrastructure forcing riders to use the road. Cars dont mind if you can keep up with them and follow the rules. I also have a regular vehicle license, but enjoy my e-bike more than driving. e-Bikes are better than e-Scooters in almost every way but portability, especially the custom builds.
And the lightning strike images are different by one factor, Amber tinted Polarized Sunglasses were placed in front of the camera.
The robot cow did make it. Of course, manufacturers gave up trying to make it look like a cow - the real thing looks like a chemical factory - but they genuinely exist, in large commercial quantities.
Where did you think vegan / soya / almond milk came from?
That seems to be a very different concept, though. Looking at that robot cow, it appears like its only purpose was to appear like a cow. It goes Moo, it moves its head, it wiggles its ears, and it gives milk… from a tank, that you have to refill with… milk. It’s like having all the annoying aspects of a cow without any of the useful ones, and replaces the maintenance nightmare with a different kind of maintenance nightmare. I do wonder what its designer thought its place in the market was going to be…
World Fair was a bit like burning man in places. People would bring and build the craziest things to generate hype and mix a little bit of engineering with the magic of fun, usually to draw people in to then show them the companies practical gadgets.
Someone told me the ice cream cone was invented at a World Fair but I’m too scared to google the validity of that, I don’t want it to be true
In the days before modern instant mass communications, World Fairs served an important role in spreading and popularising new ideas. The beginnings of Art Nouveau had been circulating amongst artists since the late 1800s, but it was the Paris Exposition of 1900 that brought the style to the attention of the public, and caused an explosion in demand. Similarly, many of the diverse elements of Art Deco had been around since the 1890s, but it was the Paris Exposition of 1925 that united them in the popular imagination, and turned them from artistic curiosities into “must-have” objects of desire.
It might look small but RPG’s have thought me that rare encounters will always be accompanied by exceedingly high health points and OP moves. Good to see this guy and his party made it out in one piece.
I read that they are selling out as a double feature. They are calling it Barbenheimer. Most are watching Oppenheimer first then Barbie to ‘clean their pallettes’. Both movies seem to be very good and I plan in seeing them both. I will watch Oppenheimer in broad daylight with something fun to do afterwards because nothing scares me more than nukes. I can’t even play Fallout 4 without stressing out every time I hear the geiger counter ticking.
I just checked the weather map and the places that are 40 degrees Celsius up to next week are the Sahara, the Arabian desert, the center of Brazil, a spot in the center of China, and the whole south east coast of the USA (the latter being the most densely populated one…). So. Yeah. What do you do now?
My colleagues say Minnesota is nice! But maybe the snowman behind them is forcing them to say that.
