Ace Combat 8, huh? Dammit, when are they finally going to make an anime? I don’t have time to play the games!! ![]()
I have pre-ordered Star Wars Galactic Racer, my eldest daughter loved PodRacer, now she has her own house away from us wants online hook up races with me. Cant wait for it dropping, it looks fantastic in all the reviews we have seen.
All that talk of Flow, Flower and Journey in the music thread seems to have conjured up a new noclip documentary about the history of ThatGameCompany ![]()
Part one covers Flow and Flower.
Part two will cover Journey and part three will cover Sky when they release in the coming weeks.
I wanted to like sky but touch screen controls and tiny mobile screen; I barely could see where I was going and most times the phone misinterpreted my thumbs and sent me into a wall.
For those wanting AC8
So I don’t know if he will upgrade or not lol
And another game from the makers of The Invincible going into early access soon
Picked up a few PC big box classics today:
- Ring (1998)

Purely bought for the intrigue, while aware of the negative reception. I love the really old 1924 b/w film by Fritz Lang and certainly don’t mind the Wagner music drama. This game is most likely going to disappoint me for gameplay itself, but I can’t help but wonder if I can appreciate their intention and Druillet’s artwork. And knowing myself, regardless of that outcome, I’d still be on the lookout for part II, which is said to be even worse, if only for completion sake. - Rama (1996)

Love this game, good old point & click with the occasional classic video scenes. Cool Arthur C. Clarke, Rendezvous with Rama and Rama II mixed story. Played it two or three times from start to finish over the years. Already own a copy, but with a hiccup on one disc and no box. - Myst III: Exile (2001)
I did not actually have a physical release of this yet. It’s a Dutch version, still sealed. - Star Crusader (1994)

Played at friends a few times, never enough to really get into it. I never had a computer myself or one good enough until much later. Seems cool enough and it’s ‘space’! - Blair Witch (2000)
Never played any of these myself, but I used to be a huge fan of the movie(s) and surrounding intrigue.
Omg its out? I’m very excited to try this.
Ive never been a racing sim fan but ive always enjoyed arcade racers etc. Twisted Metal, Wipeout, Destruction/Demolition Derby (name depending on region), burnout, OG Pod Racer etc.
It feels like that Genre just up and vanished after the 360 era with the occasional game that tried to revive it but seemed to fall short or become a weird “Games as A Service” platform.
I think im gonna be bold and break the bank a little and get this ![]()
Savings can be next weeks problem ![]()
It looks gorgeous, glad to see yr rendering issues from NMS didnt follow you over like a digital haunting.
I’m on PS5. Mostly due to storage issues.
Photo mode is lacking but still nice.
And now I am hungry and need to go find food. Can’t race on an empty stomach
Droids sure do like their games
This game takes racing seriously. Crash and burn too many times and the season is over. Your racer is scrapped for cash and you start all over next time
Once in a while I jump back into Fallout 4 because I never have found all of the bobbleheads.
Never found this before either. Afraid to discover what happened
Imagine he has the last bubblehead in this hand…
If he’s one of your settler your villagers have weird hobby ![]()
Just restarted it myself. I never got round to it back when the DLCs landed (there was some nasty bug too). I’ve actually forgotten heaps of the interactions & map areas so its a bit like a new release fo me. Looks much nicer on the PS5 than the PS4 & load times are quick. Me like ![]()
Yes. It looks much better and I had lots of creation points to spend so I went all out on T shirts, paint jobs and picket fences so I could deco Home Plate real well.
Just scored a complete Giddyup Buttercup yesterday. ![]()
And the speeds on the SW racing game are insane. ![]()
I just got Star Wars Galactic Racer today on the Laptop, completely agree its face melting good racing, even if using keyboard.
Came 1st once, 2nd four times .. and other results I shall not discuss as a cadet ![]()
Also face planted a few rocks along the way .. I’m on my third round of the Campaign (still Cadet) and I like the way progression is being made even after you lose a run through the campaign.
Feels: Bang on. I loved the really old Pod Racer, and various incarnations of WipeOut, this is just as addictive for just one more go.
Still trying to figure the best combinations of upgrades, but already have a new chassis which gave me my first 1st place win.
And Sebulba!, I shall make him poodoo!. Mine laying swine.
I will not discuss my finishing places either
1st place felt good while it lasted
But that is how the game progresses. I love carefully building my speeder up. It has kept me from buying into a 2nd one. That bike is really tempting.
I also like the mystery encounters. Some are a real risk but let you walk on the seedier side of the sport.
The speed is mind blowing. The crashes hurt, really badly.
I have made it to 3 planets so far
Not knowing the tracks and the varied weather have a real impact.
Also walking around listening to the characters is funny and remember to pet the cats ![]()
Had no idea Galactic Racer was a rogue-like with its progression but It fits it so well. Also was happy to see it wasnt one of those 80-90 euro plus titles, I was able to stretch myself to pick up the standard version.
Made it through the qualifying tournament on after maybe my 3rd or 4th elimination.
The secondary loadout I unlocked that comes pre loaded with the auto pilot ability may have had something to do with those wins though.
Especially if you get offered the upgraded auto pilot abilities. Paired with stuff that boosts your ramjet cooldowns etc while adding energy upgrades where you can makes it a very poweful ability. Especially for those of us with aging reflexes ![]()
A fun thing I found out, when sidebets are unlocked, some will say they offer favours.
If you keep targetting your sidebets against the same racer (that offers a favour) and beat them enough times throughout the current tournament, this will unlock unique encounters with them culminating in a one on one race that isnt part of the tournaments race count but will give you a permanent unlock in a unique Favour ability.
Also if you see a mystery event along the path, they can be incredibly useful too and lead to favours and other unlocks.
Elimination rounds are fun but tough.
If I can give any advice, its throw the final race in act 2, maybe stay in act 2 a little longer upgrading if you can. Act 3 is kickin my ass ![]()
I think I got a very very lucky run and finished act 2 on one attempt. Could barely keep up with the top 6 in my first race in act 3.
This was re-blue skied by the The Long Dark account. Not tried it yet myself
Geoguessr for Great Bear Island….
