I loved Red Dead 2
Any Katamari Damacy game. Just instantly at ease. If I can’t play the game I’ll go in for the first 2 games soundtracks while making food or doing chores.
Game’s I’ve been playing for years and see no sign of stopping, No Mans Sky aside (almost ten years now ; 0 ; ) would be Minecraft and Valheim (have had a server rented for that for 5 years now).
Occasionally I’ll get roped into whatever MP fad game my IRL friends are playing, especially if its PVE (I’ll pass on their PVP exploits). Mot recently that has been Darktide.
Worms. Any worms game is just a blast with friends. Particularly WWP or Worms Armageddon.
Magequit is another recent addition to our circle where its just so chaotic and the controls are so awkward, amateurs can unexpectedly destroy someone whose got skill, a lot of games end with everyone laughing and cheering no matter who won.
Oh, and deep rock galactic is maybe my favourite PVE to play with friends since L4D2.
Love Baldurs Gate and RDR, also enjoy the new Dad Of War games, finally got to play Ragnarok a little over a year ago. Got a PS5 finally so I could play FF7 RE:birth on launch (FF7 was a big part of my formative years)
Dwarf Fortress is another one I’ve been playing on and off for over a decade now, re-ignited with the steam version and its actual graphics.
Any Supergiant game. I own them all on multiple platforms and have 100% all of them. Amazing music by Darren Korb and always fun and unique worlds and characters. I was a little unsure with Hades II, being their first sequel, but I was soon proven wrong and sucked right in.
I only stopped because I was afraid of what might happen if I kept going but there’s tonnes more I could gush about for hours.
RDR and BG seem very well made games that tell interesting stories (I know them only from streams I watched), for me, the equivalents would probably be cyberpunk, deus ex, half life. (Starfield was less captivating than expected.)
When I’m tired, I’m not in the mood for so much talking, then I prefer NMS, space engineers, minecraft, where NPCs are “mute.” It’s only topped by Journey, where even your fellow players are mute. ![]()
I’m not sure about RimWorld yet, colony management sounds like fun, but … the pawns are such stupitragic slapstick… “oh no, I stepped into the open mouth of a wolf”, “oh no, I just stood there while a guineapig killed me”, “oh no, I stepped into the line of fire one pixel next to cover”, “oh no, I have no bed and roof because I didn’t build them”… Have you tried not doing that and following the priorities I set??
Not recommended for relaxation. ![]()
I guess when it comes to recent games, I only had citizen sleeper that stuck out to me. In the “not quite young anymore but can’t call them old” category there’s NMS and Legend of Grimrock, I guess (at least they’re the only games in decades that ever got the honor of getting played through…).
And then I have to reach way back to Albion, Realms of Arcania 1&2, X-com, Star Control 2, Starflight (the proto-proto-NMS), Alien Legacy, Privateer and Morrowind. These are the games of my youth, where I still had time to actually play games, not just skim their surface. Though I was already a so-called adult when I learned about Alien Legacy and Starflight to be honest (after I discovered HOTU), so I didn’t get as deep into them as I wished I could have. Still got the GoG version of starflight 1&2 lying around which I bought at a sale for 2 bucks just to have them in the library. One day… One fine day I’m going to bloody well play them again! Probably when I’m retired or somethin’…
Hi future me. I highly recommend this life plan.

Woah, I thought maybe this went the way of Deep Down and other capcom titles that have just disappeared for years without a word.
I remember it being announced as a ps5 title during the big ps5 reveal with a 2022 release date. Capcom are weird when it comes to revealing brand new IP and then just falling back on Street Fighters and Residents Evils. Happy this one made it over the finish line <3
Downloading the Demo on console now ![]()
There’s some backstory laying around
And this feels like a trap
Scan it little robo girl
That’s a big foot
I’m gonna die ain’t I?
Yep
Just from the screens it’s reminding me of their Lost Planet series. Japanese 3rd person action games have such a specific feel to them or maybe it’s just Capcom? Like a visual brand identity? RE Engine aside.
Going to play shortly, first I gotta watch me some Fallout Finale.
Definitely created for Japanese players who are born with Samurai thumbs.
There is a lot going on at once.
My main character feels sluggish and I had a hard time evading things.
Let me know what you think…
If I can improve my handling of the mechanics, I think I could really enjoy this game.
Also, I could not find the demo in the PS or Windows store and it isn’t working on Linux right now so I ended up on Switch which isn’t great because of the backwards buttons
Let me know if you find the demo of PS. It’s Pragmata Sketchbook
Edit: had to change proton version in Steam
Settings in this game’s graphics are huge and it shows how much graphic memory you will use and gives a screen to show what it will look like
If you are a keyboard player…good luck. You will definitely need an above standard mouse mouse with side buttons
Ok. My daughter beat it and is now speed running. At the end, you get ranked? Diana draws a picture and it has a number on it. It read No 7 on her first run and No 6 on her 2nd run. She is going in for a 3rd run
Her 2nd run was 10 minutes. 19 for her first run
3rd run No 5, 9min 8sec a sub 10
Now she has gone to her PC and will have to defeat herself to unseat me-not-me ![]()
edit: I am definitely getting this game
Looks so much better on my PC
This is me taking my time and getting all the objects and reading all of the story
Some unexpected things cropped up in the day so will have to try this out tomorrow.
I wonder what the highest number is? I might just take my sweet time and see if there’s a Number 16 ![]()
Recently spent a few afternoons playing SPLIT FICTION with my daughter.
It’s a 2 player, co-op type game, where you are both essential to get each other through.
It is based around stories so the realms shift from various fantasy & sci-fi. The fantasy stuff was my favourite & there were some brilliant ideas in a beautiful environment.
As games go, it isn’t very hard, although we still got stumped a few times trying to work out our next puzzle step.
Boss fights also include shared tasks & are a tad grindy & repetitive if that’s not your thing.
(My daughter is an avid Elden Ring [sucker for punishment] so boss battles are not a problem for her).
We had many good laughs at our dumbness when things were being tricky & both quite liked the game & storyline.
Each character has their own skills & weapons/tools so each player a unique involvement as the game progresses.
Quirky, expected events & a mindbending variety of perspectives added to the play experience.
Sometimes the view would switch from 3rd person, to offset angled or even side-scroller which added to the amused swearing & occasional squeals.
I’ll give it a 7½ out of 10 simply due to it looking a bit dated at times & my personal dislike of long boss fights however it was a ton of fun for a once off, co-op with quite a bit of amusing & surprising content.
Worth a look.
Easily one of my favourite trailer reveals/announcements in a long long time. Came out within three months of its announce too, and can play with a friend online with just one person owning a copy.
A very good studio that deserves support.
I havent played it because i lack the second person to enjoy it with but i told everyone i could who has kids or partners to pick it up (a lot of people I know with partners and family played and enjoyed their previous game, a lot of them non gamers).
I quite liked how the pig level ends with you becoming hot dogs and carrying on anyway ![]()
I know you played it but i reccomend checking the trailer, its the lead dev just talking over the footage enthusiastically with some colourful language. He was on stage before and after the trailer too and had the entire audience in the palm of his hand.
@sheralmyst i played that demo last night. Feels more like a game from the 360 era than a modern game, static environments with invisible walls etc. But thats kinda been a huge problem with japanese game design for these types of games for a long time.
Im curious where the 8 years of development were spent. Enjoyed it all the same, took my time, forty minutes cos distractions and seeing what the highest number might be.
I got a 7 ![]()
I laughed every time I used the r2 special animation attack on the boss and both the chatacter and boss would teleport to the predetermined spot where the animation takes place. Been an age since id seen that happen. I thought we’d moved on from it but there really is something odd happening with japanese development in that regard. Using the same old shortcuts in game and level design from over 2 decades ago ![]()
Considering hes always been a vocal critic of the worst parts of American culture and politics (while simultaneously being a massive fan boy of its greatest parts) and the recent attitudes shown towards anything foreign, especially to those whove been critical towards what we now know as MAGA-types, I can totally see why he may want to pass on this event. His team should be okay but there might be an agent waiting to have a word with him for his anti american/anti war statements ![]()
I didnt realise it was in america this year, its usually in some european country in the past rigjt? Couldve sworn it was in germany a few times ar least but maybe I havent been paying all that much attention
Unpopular opinion: rdr 1 is a masterpiece. no questions asked. ok sure the graphics are not as stunning as rdr2 but the story makes up for it. and the undead nightmare dlc? absolutely a blast. I spent about a whole day getting all four horses of the apocalypse. if you haven’t already, seriously try it. you won’t regret it.
I remember RDR1. But what I remember is a stagecoach stuck in one spot with the horses running but going nowhere. I also remember shooting birds. But it’s all I remember. Waiting for a remake ![]()

Kena is getting a sequel, i did not see that coming
