Future Update Speculation

They’ve gone very quiet about Light No Fire. If they’ve run into difficulties there, I would imagine it’s getting most of the available resource. No Man’s Sky is nice to have, but Light No Fire is the company’s future income stream.

Considering there was a nasty save corruption bug introduced for legacy saves with the last patch that has prevented people from booting up their main saves, it’s been an oddly long time between now and that last Experimental patch.

I hope there’s good news for those players soon, have seen a few people post about it over the days in Reddit and I think @BlackIris was effected but recovered via a rollback on gog.

Mrs Mad Hatter’s ’ pre-Next’ era Legacy Save got smooshed as she exited the expedition.
Last backup was months ago.
She’s devestated.
She had already done the expedition but wanted to ship hunt a particular exotic she’d seen so went in again with her Legacy Save
What’s worse is I warned her of the glitch & she did it anyway without bothering to check her back-ups were up to date.
Hopefully they find a resto fix & she can save her favorite Save file.

I tried updating to v5.12 again. Nothing is different on my PC from the first attempt that would not launch. Lo and behold it works fine. I use GOG and it doesn’t appear anything changed there either.

I sometimes check in on the LNF discord and there’s a person who writes every day “it’s now been x days since we got news” or so, plus a motivational line. There is also someone who makes beautiful drawings of his future self in the LNF world as a potato farmer. Every picture contains potatoes. People react with potato emojis. They have spent the time programming a hype bot that spells out things in emojis (like, hype no fire) and it responds to questions with word salad. No, they are not slowly going insane at all…

Your formerly broken legacy save work now?

“Can’t Forget about Potatoes” will always live in my mind…

I think I’m right there with them.

I also need to see this Potato Farmer fan art now. Is there a “search by potato” feature on discord?

Oh I have a few of theirs from a while ago saved in my wallpapers folder, I thought they were doing weird anime thirst traps of Sean in LNF :stuck_out_tongue:

I will have to add them all to the collection, can’t wait for everyone to find the inevitable potato farmer community nod easter egg in the game

I’m wondering with all the effort that has gone in to make this game one of the day one Enhanced PS5 Pro titles for the consoles launch, it will naturally come with some form of patch.

It will probably also come with the usual screenshots where you can drag the slider to compare and see the improvements.

These updates don’t always come with content but they usually come with incredible improvements or QOI updates so I think we at least have something like this to look forward to in November.

If I was to let expectations fly loose and into the realm of wishful thinking/Sales Team Boss Moves; saving worlds Part 2 as being a big part of the consoles release would be a surefire way to pull in those who got the console and are looking for something to take advantage of the very expensive buy.

It would also be a great patch/update to bring back the cross save feature that has disappeared on the Sony end of NMS and… verging into wishful thinking again… introduce the multi-plat cross save options teased from datamining. Maybe someone on PC or Switch just picked up their first Sony console of the gen and might want to continue their journey elsewhere

I’m just spitballin how they could take advantage of what will be a monumental patch day but maybe not a monumental content day (but if it was to be the latter it would officially make this HG’s greatest year of hit after hit).

I guess SM tweets a bunch of pics to show us he is still alive and then digs back in…

I prefer his emoji tweets.

Is there an emoji of fire with a “not” sign through it? :smiling_imp:

It just dawned on me, the community spotlight bases in the Nexus ,that I feel have been the same for a few years now…

They all fit a theme that more or less said, “hey we like what you guys have made because it’s exactly what we’ve been secretly working on.” Wizards rests, floating islands, big ol’ dragon eggs…

The feckers were teasing LNF for years with the community spotlight and we had no idea :grinning:

Where there’s a smoker, there’s fire?

Maybe :fire_extinguisher: would work

I would disagree. There’s a (unpublished, if I remember correctly) song by long-passed swiss songwriting legend Mani Matter , in which he vents frustrations over the condescension of pipe smokers towards cigarette smokers. After a couple of verses he concludes the song with “there’s many a one still smoking, but it’s not a fire”, meaning in this context “it’s really not that big of a deal”.

Hmmm…we were just placed under a burn ban. No rain for weeks and no rain for the next 2 weeks.
One cigarette butt out the window is all it would take to light a fire that would burn acres before anyone could even spit on it.

And it looks like you won’t even get the tail end of Milton. Half the country’s drowning, and the rest is a fire-trap.

There is a lot of discussion on X twitter about removing Comm balls. It would be a shame but I am feeling the same way.
I did notice a big reduction in how many I saw in the last expedition. But they are increasingly hateful.

I’ve still yet to encounter a negative comm ball, all mine are always greetings from European countries.

I wonder if you are more likely to see comm balls closer to your IP’s source? Or how does it decide which comm balls to show you?

It’s the only way I can make sense of not seeing hateful ones, but a lot of love from European countries etc. or words of encouragement like “you’re almost there, keep going” etc.

The only other explanation is I’ve been fortunate.

But I love it. I love arriving to an RZ point and getting a barrage of well wishes from the community while I wait for 65days guitars to stfu.

They definitely need reworking. Less of an eye sore. And easier to remove. I can’t even find or remove comm balls I’ve placed myself.

And add a guestbook/sign in to player bases while they’re at it.

I used to like to thank people whose base I’ve visited by placing a comm ball on their planets poles or as far away from their base if they’re near a pole, as possible. I saw a post about someone complaining about having a comm ball marker forever in their periphery so I stopped, don’t wanna annoy the wrong person '^ _^
