They have a lot of people on temporary / short-term contracts. Also people who don’t work for them full-time, but are only involved with specific targets, as and when required.
It makes calculating employee numbers very hit-and-miss.
The real eye-opener is if you go to Companies House, and look up how much the company is worth / is making. Their declared annual accounts are a matter of public record. There doesn’t seem to be any danger of them running out of cash any time soon.
As far as I can make out, Innes McKendrick hasn’t been with Hello Games for some years. Not since hiking across the United States.
I got the impression that Innes had become far more interested in political activism than in programming.
