Frontiers (Updates and Patches)

You might actually be right @Clemm, as that would certainly be fitting. :blue_square::sparkles:

On April 5, 2010, the show introduced Geoff Peterson, Craig’s robot skeleton sidekick. Previously, Craig had professed his desire to have his own “Robot Skeleton Army”. — (Source: Wikipedia)

Btw, Geoff has glowing ‘blue’ eyes, :eyes: for what it’s worth.

Could this be an Easter egg? :egg: After all, this was an Easter update. So why not?

Otherwise…

Remember the No Man’s Sky trailer, which premiered at The Game Awards 2014? On September 30, 2016, shortly after NMS’s troubled August launch, Geoff Keighley attempted a video explanation, and this could be their way of saying: “Hey Geoff, look at us now!” Or, “We dedicate this cube to you!” Or, “Don’t forget us this year!” After all, Geoff Keighley has served as the executive producer and host of The Game Awards since its inaugural show in 2014. And fast-forward, NMS won ‘Best Ongoing Game’ at The Game Awards 2020. :trophy: Could they wish not to be forgotten in 2022, when they release an immense version 4.0, a whopping six years after its 2016 launch and eight years after the No Man’s Sky trailer, which premiered at The Game Awards 2014?

Granted, Craig’s goofy robot sidekick Geoff, sure does make for a nice line of reasoning. IMHO, best late night show ever! Do we know of any other Geoff that could fit the bill better than either of the above?

The Fun Police have struck again.

HG have drastically reduced the quantities of goods space station traders will sell you. It used to be common for traders in a 3 star economy to sell 2,500 - 3,000 of their items. Now I can’t find anyone selling more than 800.

Obviously, this vastly increases the grind required to build up your character and equipment. No fun at all.

I read somewhere that they nerfed something that made tons of money and then they reversed the nerf after complaints about it.

Has anyone else noticed the sound of the new starships following them around since this last update? Had it on both PC and Steam Deck

I’ve noticed a sort of hissing/crackling noise -like a loose wire in a mains circuit - that follows me around. Whether that’s the new ship noise or not, I don’t know.

Yes. I know what you are talking about. But this is like the underwater noise that sometimes remains even when out of the water except this is the sound of the starship following me as I walk across the planet.

For me, I keep periodically hearing my royal exotic’s landing transformation sound.

I also still occasionally see that annoying phantom mining beam thing following me, which also flickers and hisses.

I was hearing the exotic and solar ships landing on my freighter parked just outside the space station. I moved the freighter and the extra sounds stopped (probably because the landing stopped). It seems that the distance attenuation is broke again. It did help me know to go to my freighter to grab the exotic. Reminds me of the ‘good ol’ times’ when we could hear the plants finish growing from across the galaxy and knew to go back to harvest them.

A friend of mine an I were playing a couple of weeks ago and that phantom beam hit us. It turned out to be that we were seeing each others terrain manipulator. If either of us fired our beam the flash showed at the others feet. We haven’t seen it again but that may be because we stay in single player mode and just use the console’s chat feature most of the time, only joining games when something cool comes along.

I just noticed that our avatar is supposed to make sounds when we use certain emotes. I knew of the squeaky sound from Need Resources but at least two others have sounds. One is Help which has a coughing sound and I forget the other one. They do not seem to always work. Maybe that is why I never noticed. Not sure if the emotes had these sounds from the start. Maybe someone else knows…
