Aha. Microsoft Defender “protected” some NMS files from overwrite.
Gave them overwrite permission.
Also smelled a brain fart and cleared the air :). I then was able to start the expedition. Now to find time to actually do it.
Any play tips would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance.
@DevilinPixy posted a good guide here, about 5 messages back. Scroll back and look - it covers most bases.
With the milestone active the signal sweeper will direct you to the nearest valid item.
For me they seemed to be those buried organic masses or the buried mineral formation, I’m sure it would have guided me to a buried cache too had I needed more and not being surrounded by atomic ores and pustules globules.
Just finished the Expedition and I see they made the wise decision not to give us the comm ball blueprint throughout.
I saw some at the end, I guess it became available after becoming normal saves for them, and I didn’t see any negativity thankfully. I did get a good laugh out of this one
“Make America Great Britain Again”
Nice subversion of expectations and a good lampoon of outdated ideals.
Most of them were references to Mass Effect Memes and people happy to finally have the Normandy <3
Replaying the expedition, and taking my time this run-through, I noticed this:
There is no Moon Rover milestone in this version. Possibly left over from the previous version?
A mass effect expedition without a Mako milestone? Unacceptable!
I’ve never noticed this before, either:
It’s tagged as “Abandoned Wreckage”. You can’t use it, but you can search it for tech goodies - much like the distress beacons.
They were added with the Expedition that had them as a base decoration or not long after that.
I keep forgetting about them, they can be quite abundant once you know what you’re looking for but I must say I have not seen one in months! I forget the particular requirements but I think it can be any planet that has “salvageable scrap” in its planets info.
NMS wiki doesn’t even have an entry for them, and NMSResources has nothing under interaction or additional info XD They’re new and nobody’s bothered writing about them Poor lil wrecks, abandoned by all accounts.
In true NMS resouraces fashion the page also links to this infographic you cant zoom in on, get a clearer version of or comfortably digest the onslaught of information being thrown at you by the infopanes.
Why watermark the funk out of your infographics and then also make it impossible to even see beyond the preview copy… It’s one of the many mysteries of the website. I would love to get a reddit AMA going with the owner. The sheer volume of work they’ve produced is impressive but I think they need an editor
I’ve wished for the Damaged Technology to get more variety in our ‘Wishlist’ threads & I suggested wreckage, (among other things), as a stand-in.
I never realised we got it, (sort of).
I just thought we’d got some cool base decorations & have never encountered them in the wild.
That must have been a fun find for you. @Polyphemus
Oh, yeah. NMS Resources has a lot of info, but the info is too dense, among other things. That’s a very low usability factor.
Replaying the expedition, I arrived at the final destination to find that some clown has built this on top of it:
Well, my friend, that truly makes you a Hero in my eyes. What vision! What imagination!
Having finished the expedition (again), it’s possible to revisit the final destination - which is, in itself, an instructive experience.
Note that all the surrounding bases have gone (there were dozens), as have all the comm balls. The expedition and the normal mode game are cleaarly taking place in different iterations of the same galaxy.
Are we gonna have our bi-weekly discussion about brutalist architecture again? I’m not ready!
Would be cool if a scan harmoniser would show you Expedition players for a brief moment while in an expedition system outside of the expedition
Beachhead Redux was released 10 days ago, and was due to last 2 weeks - so by my reckoning we should be nearing the end.
A few days ago, I checked the in-game timer, and it said “1 week remaining”. This morning, I checked again, and found this:
On the face of it, it looks like the time’s been extended - but the timer has been flaky and unreliable before. Who knows?
Has it been 10 days already? I am living in a time lag or something. I need to run this exp on PS5 but I will be out all day today.
To be conpletely honest, I can’t remember if it released on the Wednesday or the Thursday - so it could be 9 days. Either way, it’s more then a week - so my comment regarding the timer still stands. Completionists had better get moving.
The Beachhead expedition has been expanded to now end:
Wednesday November 27th, 2024 at 10:00 (UTC)
The countdown timer has been adjusted to reflect this
Looks like they’re preparing something, and the timing’s important. Christmas / New Year holidays?
