Endurance update (3.94+) - discussion (possible spoilers)

Sounds exciting! I have some things to finish up first but looking forward to trying this out. <3

Maybe @DevilinPixy knows: do we have this entire area to build in?

Oooo. More nice new wallpaper. I really put to use my “enlarge without losing detail” software to create a big wall sized print to hang.

and…

"Asteroid fields are less uniformly spread, now appearing in dense clusters, and feature a wider variety of asteroid shapes, sizes and colours.

The Starship Scanner can now locate asteroids which are rich in fuel resources, in the event of an adverse fuel situation while outside of an asteroid field."

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Reminder to self: Don’t let those solar sails get clipped by a honking big asteroid!

[after more closely reading patch notes…]

" Players visiting infested planets may now occasionally stumble upon the hungering tentacles of the many-mouthed vessel…"

Ummm … cringy. I rarely do multiplayer. I’ll be curious to see what that beast is!

I am completely stunned by the graphics of Endurance, and all the new features… just wow.

And this is not even the 4.0… :joy::joy::joy:

Great news for builders

I have not looked into it yet. I do know that freighter parts now have external textured meshes too, so no longer would it look all weird from the outside. How large the build area is, or if this has changed at all, remains to be seen.

@sheralmyst I have now checked and noticed it has changed somewhat.

The default freighter, after reset, now just has 3 corridors coming off he bridge to start with.

If using ‘new’ parts, the total L*W*H = 21*19*7 = 2,793 rooms/corridors.

However, I have noticed that on the far outer sides, besides the bridge side itself, you can extend one extra ‘legacy’ corridor/room. This then makes the total L*W*H = 22*21*7 = 3,234 corridors/rooms for ‘legacy’.

EDIT: Updated the NMS Freighter Floor Planner :link: (JSFiddle) to reflect the size changes and default layout

Mess Hall is coming together

The outside looks better…but I still would not call it great…

I will likely keep my windows for the edges or looking onto a catwalk area.

Some of the freighter bases I have seen are HUGE!!! I would be lost.
Love being able to walk outside.

My base on my freighter used to have a base teleporter. I ported from my planetary base to my freighter and found that everything seemed intact though all new models, except my teleporter. It was gone. I searched the freighter but not a sign of it. So I tried to build another but there was no base teleporter in the build menu.

Can we only teleport TO our Freighter now?

It has its own room now. There are specialty rooms for all base devices and specialists. You need to unlock some of the new rooms with salvaged frigate modules at the terminal in your freighter bridge area

Thank you! That is disappointing to me since Frigate modules are so hard to find. Let me know if that changes. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My freighter is coming along but oh my, it could get too complex real quickly. I have stuck to just one floor but I really like the ladders so I may have to make a personal space on an upper floor.
Here are a few areas I have worked on so far. Maybe we will need to make a Freighter Base thread.

A little tip: if you love the new freighter piece colors and would like to have them on furniture, highlight a freighter piece and choose the color you want, then without leaving the build menu, choose and place a piece of furniture. If it is colorable, it will take on the new freighter coloring that you chose for the freighter piece. Hope that makes sense.
Here are the desk and chairs with the tan color

I was about to write almost literally the same bug report - I will assume it’s common and reproducible and they are aware of it.

I could remove the intruding geometry from the bridge by flying out and reparking the freighter in a new spot, by the way.

Happy cakeday sheralmyst  !

I didn’t hoard any salvaged frigate modules recently, sigh…

First I thought I’ll just get rid of my freighter and start over with a new one — which freighter is it even in this save? Turns out it was a black star destroyer with red highlights. I don’t think I will find anything better soon.

So instead I decided to clean it out and reset it. I used to have hallway colour coding and stickers pointing the way to the exit, which needs to be redone. There is one new cargo room where the threshold is missing from the opening, and NPCs get stuck walking in place, trying to leave the room, and they pile up overlapping one another, so I guess this freighter base is a little bit cursed already.
I casually picked up some glitch decorations and slowly realised… Uh-oh, this is my glitch hoarding freighter… :innocent: Yup, spent the next 5 minutes sorting these things into storage.

When you reset a freighter, they used to say you get half the materials back from the salvage station, is that still true? What about glitches, are they deleted after a freighter reset?

Oh! I thought they’d fixed that freighter bug, but I guess not. Are you on experimental?

I’ve started a new game now so it’ll be a while till I get a freighter (I’m gonna be a pirate and I’m going to use save editor (NomNom) to cut down on the dullest grind moments. Because cutting corners is the pirate way :pirate_flag:).
