Yes, apparently some freighter wreckage floating in space has salvageable cargo.
I’m yet to see this for myself.
Crashed freighters laying on planets have 6 cargo vaults, 4 in rooms, 2 buried.
Crashed freighters found underwater have 6 buried cargo vaults (i think its 6) but in a slightly different configuration to ones on planet surfaces.

The only freighter wreckage that has the lootables, is the largest one in 3 pieces with one that rotates. There should be 1 or 2? cargo pods.
As soon as you loot them you will be attacked by pirates.

I just came across one and only found two cargo pods outside the freighter. I do not see any other pods on the sides of freighter… I am getting pirates every 5 minutes or so attacking so in a way it’s kind of lucrative to just sit here and make credits.
