Thank you! I know! Iām your neighbour (2). Hearing my music blasting from next door makes me really happy

Thank you! I didnāt dare ^^
Hey fellow Operators, Iām unsure as to the standard procedure for this, but Iām currently working on an IRL mixtape for Project Skyscraper. Iāve compiled a total of 10 songs into a bout 43 minutes of runtime, all curated and compiled to encompass the arg as a whole (from my viewpoint). This is side A.
Project Skyscraper Mixtape side A
For side B, Iām going to start compiling a list of songs that represent us, The MAIN FAM.
The plan is to, somehow, record/upload the Mixtape version of the recording back to YouTube, along with a really cool thumbnail/album cover that Iāve teamed up with the super creative @thewingcmdr to make! (Seriously, this dudes art skills are insane.)
If you want a peak at that sick art work youāll have to get him to share, he deserves the love!!!
In the meantime Iāve shared the YouTube music playlist above, and I hope to get some feedback on it!
I also plan (eventually) on making a few irl copies and sending them around as well!
P.s. I slipped in an audio clip at the end of the first song, little bit of an arg/ETARC shout-out ![]()
If Side A is System, think about this. title and even the vid (useless on a cassette I know ^^) fit with the subject.
This is a great choice. I only knew the last one, and the artists to the 4th (the sixth. THE SIXTH. Iām sorry), the rest I completely discovered. I really liked it. I think lyrically those are a good match to the ARG, though I had to listen several times as I just discovered 4 of those tracks and my brain likes to prioritize how it sounds vs. what it means
)
(By the way for the other French-speaking people here, or old-school hip-hop fans, the Architect beat sounds a whole lot like old Cut Killer sets and tapes⦠Just occurred to me)
Ta ta ta tarara, tarara tarara jajaj , molan ![]()
Donāt forget about G.R.3.G
I was planning on having that on side B lol!
My brain does the same!! Iāve spent a lot of hours over the last few days working on it! I wanted to make sure the songs sounded well together, fit lyrically, and made sense in order as well!!
I really appreciate that you liked them! I genuinely wanted to incorporate more french artists into it, but as a not native speaker, it was harder for me to find one that fit my previous criteria. It was actually in that search that I came across Trans X, the third songs artist, and felt like it was a really good match to systems pov
Iām French and I actually know very little about popular French music with lyrics, save a few select and mostly old things ![]()
But I do know that in France, SF as a genre across all media has long been shunned in the past, culturally. From my interpretation it was seen as ānot seriousā by most people, or just without interest (maybe still is). Sad⦠To find SF works youād have to look at underground, or at least not mainstream stuff, be it in music, books, cinema, etc. Only a few French SF works have achieved fameā¦
This kind of āold-schoolā thinking (in a bad way) is one of the reason I said what I said first in this post.
Argh ! Jule Verne, Pierre Boulle, Barjavel,Moebius, Bilal, Druillet, Melies (pionneer in cinema), Luc Besson. In music thatās hard to say āSFā but if itās a question of electronic sound so Iāll just say: J.M. Jarre. And of course Pierre Henry in the 60ās Music Tastes among ETARCers? - #949 by kerdorin
Only exemples of course, there are many more ![]()
They all are great authors and artists, I especially have a thing for Druillet and Metal Hurlant
Urm le Fou is a masterpiece.
Youāre right, I stand corrected and I shouldnāt write when tired/waking up lol. But I feel that for many people, it was seen as something not serious, childish even, back when. Surely itās not a objective view, but I think itās true in some way, just as hard rock and metal were ignored by radios and TV in France, while booming in the UK and Northern EU.
Edit : I thought about Jean-Michel Jarre but as I understand it, MountTheRainbow wanted lyrics ?
Yeah Urm is great, I love Delirius (with Lob).
I think it was a time where society was handle by people who lived the WW2 and wanted āseriousā people, not dreamer. But the massive baby boomers (the true one, not the āboomerā we hear every day) became adult and thought future so their work/ideas were underestimated . But future and evolution always win ![]()
Still very much a work in progress, but hereās a shot of a troublemaker some of you might find familiar:
Those look good already !
