As long as I stay out of the ‘hype-train’ room, I’ll likely survive
considering how “BIG” the Atlas space is to the NPC’s it is EMILY’s place!
Might be kind of a player-owned anomaly. You know, first we got freighters, now we can get our own anomaly to cross space and time…
I am feeling the same way
Hmmm, an excerpt from community event week 4/8, where we were locating those boundary failures.
Friend! Your data, harvested from the Sentinels at such great cost, it -
It has yielded an extraordinary result! They are tracking an Anomaly, but not Nada and Polo!
The Sentinels had such cartographic marvels! Boundary maps of our reality, charting its weaknesses, its vulnerabilities!
They have found a series of broadcasts from beyond the breach, messages from another anomalous being! We must track the source of these transmissions and make contact before they do.
OMG! That fits the cube thingy with the coordinate grid and the planet pic and everything!
And I just had an elderly neighbor call because she messed up her TV and Dish remotes…again…I will return later.
Keep the ideas coming!
I’m still hoping for the lore to give us the opportunity at some point to cross the boundry, back to reality(this is a sim, right?) long enough to access the mainframe that is generating this “reality” in order to change the sentinals programming code, to make them less aggressive.
My first thought about the holo-cube is that it may be a map of a galaxy. Containing the stars for any galaxy we choose to select. It reminds me of the holo-sphere that sits awkwardly in the starship cockpits. It also sort of fits with how the math for the game builds the galaxy (squashed cube) and keeps track of all the stars. Maybe players can dial in co-ordinates using the terminals arranged around it.
The floating orange lights might indicate busy servers? Or the most populated galaxy at any moment. Or maybe when we dial in the correct galaxy they lift up much like the portal dial pad.
We may be able to fly our star ships straight into the revolving Galactic Gate into the light much like we run through the Portals now.
I was wondering about the floating object within the cube. Could it be a new exotic space ship design? If it is a minature ship that has fins they seem to swivel. Maybe it is not a galatic map but a communal terminal where we can buy and sell or build starship parts? Does one player operate all twelve terminals? Or is it more likely 12 players can operate the individual terminals surrounding the cube, for whatever reason.
The space platform seems circular and does have plants and seating so clearly is a space to walk about in. Hopefully it is a new space station inter galactic terminus and we won’t lose those iconic ‘tron’ like space staions that are a signature of the current game. Hopefully they may be updated to compliment any new additions but I quite like them in their simplistic clean style.
Lots to think about in this new peek at Beyond.
I definitely had the impression that the structure is intended to be a Hub. My first question from that thought was wondering if those structures were public hubs or something that is available through a guild system. Perhaps the holographic galaxy map works with that hub system; letting you travel between those hubs?
Wishful thinking here, but from a lore standpoint, maybe this is the entrance the the World of Glass, because we are finally going BEYOND the simulation. Maybe the WOG will be an endgame area you need help from other players to explore.
My two cents:
My impression of the video is it is the hanger of a new Anomoly or space station. The glowing cube thing looks to me to be a holographic projection for navigation purposes surrounding a sperical Anomoly type station model. Could also be a space station.
The rest looks like it may be mostly ‘fluff’/eye candy as viewed from the (first person) launch of your starship.
I’m thinking substantial upgrades to the large facility areas like space stations and maybe freighters may be a thing as well as the ‘hidden’ area beyond the current space station runway landing pads.
I really love the Tron Style, for those who don’t know i’m obsessed with Tron, and i’m really glad Hello Games is leaning onto this. !
Imagine this in the same color palette
Its so similar!
Considering the universe of No Man’s Sky is a simulation inside of a computer, it pretty much is the same as Tron.
I agree, this is would be an excellent endgame scenario (one that I have anticipated before now given the lore).
this would be bad bad bad for single player mode, those whom can not do multi-player, but I’s sure HG realizes this, …
I concur. The World of Glass would be beautifully enticing and dangerous. Some things should not be attended without appropriate planning or allies.
There is definitely some ominous music playing. I agree with @MacForADay. It seems we are treading into the most dangerous part of the Lore. This makes me happy. I want the complete story.
This made me think… A lot of the flavour text for the community missions related to the boundary breaches, to someone being there yet not there, etc. I thought it was just kind of a shoutout to early criticism of the game, but now I realise that beyond wasn’t originally planned as it is released now. THey had three major updates in the pipeline, and decided to mash them together to use synergies between them.
In other words, it is well possible that it was planned that the story of the community missions dealing with the breaches would lead up to the release of NMS online.
I fully agree with you here. If you look at anything having to do with the ‘travellers’, you will always see the same ‘orange’ colours. The Quicksilver Synthesis Companion inside the Anomaly, the Holographic Comms Tower, the Traveller Graves, and of course some of the travellers themselves. Travellers represent us, the player, and continue to hint at what is to come in the future (visions). We have been given most, if not all the clues of future (planned) updates. You can check up on all the lore/dialogue to see we have been told about multiplayer, being able to see each other, trade/markets (Holo comms towers), and even travel across the boundaries (Apollo). By the way, looking at the style of the station we see in the video, it may as well be Apollo owning the place
I truly believe that HG always had online/multiplayer in mind, as well as VR. Sean Murray has always been pretty clear about those wishes/dreams. Of course a lot of what you hope to accomplish depends on how well a game is doing. Considering they are doing pretty damn well, I feel they had started to show their confidence through the traveller lore we received, ever since Atlas Rises.
This continued with NEXT and I am pretty sure that the community missions, have been hinting at the future to come as well. Having looked at the source of those missions, it appeared to me they only partly utilised its full potential. It felt like a testing ground, more developed than actually utilised at the time. Manually injected missions, which could very well be fully automated and expanded on.
So yes, to me the station looks to be of Traveller origin, which likely means inclusion of their currency (Quick Silver). From what we have seen, we can however only guess about its true purpose, but I am sure there have been hints. Maybe a market place (Holo comms towers), a means to travel anywhere to (actually) meet up (Apollo), a customisation device for ships (Artemis), or a mission selection device (community missions).
I am hopeful this includes more story, similar to the community missions. What about the world of glass, the sentinels? If there is more to come, and it appears HG is not done just yet, I am confident to find travellers sharing their visions. However, with every update we receive, continuing to cross the boundaries, you’d expect there to be consequences???
